the hardys had successful singles careers, E&C had successful singles careers, the APA had successful singles careers, the dudleys however were never meant to be singles wrestlers, since the days of ecw thru wwe, and now tna they have always been a great tag team, 2nd best in my mind behind the road warriors
fact, the dudlys can't work without each other, it pissed me off when wwe tried to split that great team. and now tna is trying so hard to split up what was strong, what was successful, fucking ass clowns.
@12ajax21 good gimmick but TNA didnt steal it - not this time anyway. WWE were trying out the Pope gimmick on Burke/Dinero before he was shown the door
lol "i will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger......" if only samuel l jackson was there in his jules character. that would have been epic.
D-Von and Bubba Ray were the best tag team in the last decade. Now that its 2011, tag team in the WWE is a shell of its former self. Edge and Christian, Hardy Boyz, APA, Ric Flair and Batista, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero, Undertaker and Kane, Stone Cold and Triple H, La Resistance, Haas and Benjamin, Basham Brothers. That was tag team to watch, now it's Kozlov and Santino, Usos, Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater, who watches them?
This breakup didn't last long. D-Von would go to RAW months later and switch back to being a Dudley Boy with his brother. Sad to have seen these two retire this past Sunday.
@owl316 I'd say it fit Sheamus. :P Also, what if WWE was unique enough to bring forth The Undertaker and Kane's "third" brother in some cool storyline ; but this "third brother" would be more Holy and Priest-like than the likes of The Undertaker and Kane. What would be the opinions of that idea?
I think the Reverend D-Von gimmick was a good idea, as well, but, I also felt that it was offensive as pertains to the "African-American minister" stereo-type, in my opinion.; I'm a Catholic & I even found this gimmick to be offensive.
I will admit, though, although somewhat including the 'Pulp Fiction' line from 1:34-1:44, I thought that it was rather funny because who would've ever thought D-Von Dudley would say something like that unless you saw the movie & get the reference.
@owl316 they were gonna give it to elijah burke actually when he moved to raw but then he was released (i think he was released). as you can see it worked far better for burke
@owl316 well other the bubbah always being excellent enough on the mic to be world heavyweight or wwe or ecw champ but he was always with devon now in tna i hope he wins the title eventualy
Did D-von retire? cuz i heard they don't wrestle together in tna.

The only reason Bubba got to win a singles title and D-Von got nothing was simply racism. End of.

tthomaselli2 2 months ago
@tthomaselli2 The fact that it's offensive only makes the preacher gimmick funnier to me. D-Von was a heel preacher anyway.
PhazonElitist 1 month ago
@PhazonElitist
Even still, as I said, before, when D-Von did the 'Pulp Fiction' line, I found that to be funny.
At least it's not like the fuck-up job that Mark Henry did for the 'WWE Vengeance 2011' Pay-Per-View promo, or, whatever the event was.
tthomaselli2 1 month ago
@tthomaselli2 i don't think d von likes those extremists that claim they are "ministers"
he takes religion really seriously so he probably did this to make fun of those extreme racist money hungry guys that claim they are "reverends"
