It's nice to see a more serious side to jim. Most interviews I see of him he's always making jokes and fooling around. Which I love but it's great to see him like this.

@bruteoutlawz I think it's mostly to do with the fact that audience expects him to act crazy at all times and be funny 24/7 (plus promoting movies that are mostly comedies). I'm pretty sure he would LOVE to play more serious and deep roles, but he is kind of a hostage of persona he's created with his comedic work and the majority of audiences don't really accept him as a serious dramatic actor. Which is a real shame.

Everyone knows the best comedians are the ones with the deepest souls, the most private of emotions and have dealt with real pain. Really funny people are usually very smart. I admire Carrey's intellect, verbal dexterity and the fact that he's so self-actualized. I wish that Lipton wouldn't talk over his guests. It was annoying at the beginning of the interview. He needs to watch that. Maybe he was just in awe to have Carrey on the show, but still. Also, Carrey's not a performing seal and I didn't like the way Lipton egged him on to do all those impersonations. He's not a mere impersonator, he's an actor.
