The bolt carrier would be locked in the open position, after inserting a fresh magazine all you need do is press the bolt release catch (unless there is a round already chambered), then normal procedure is to tap the forward assist to make sure the bolt is closed.

I'm telling you example, take a car in GTA 4 and point car lights towards some AI (man in game) and let him walk in front of your car, you will be able to see that there are no shadows created by car lights, on PC otherwise there will be shadows. Conclusion, console can't handle realistic lighting and shadows and much more...

Those "other videos" (I'm assuming you're referring to the ones showing the real world data) are just CG trailers. You can make those with standard 3D programs (eg. Maya). Whether or not the rendered version (finished version) looks as good or not depends on your skill.

Bohemia Interactive's work is famous for making your own maps and stuff. like the famous map editor from OFP. i'm sure they know about all the mods in OFP 1, so i think they'll make an engine that you easily can make mods to.
4 vs 4 or 8 player for console; 16 vs 16 or 32 player for PC. However each man can command a squad of up to 40 soldiers... so do the math PC can expect wars of 640 vs 640 and 160 vs 160 on console. Also 8 player co-op on PC and 2 player on console.
actually lead developer said in a personal interview ... consoles are having 32 players... and 4 AI men a piece .. PC is having 32 players as well but 6 AI apiece.

Not really...BIS has really good ideas for games but the reality is they can't make a well working game. ArmA has so many bugs and performance issues it's unbelievable. Codemasters will hopefully make a more finished game that at least you can play.
What I meant was, as a military simulator, I think ArmA 2 will function better. OFP2 videos are sort of disheartening from all of the little errors in realism, for example, faulty reload animations, camo schemes, and incorrect weapon load-outs, not to mention a developers comment that a .50 cal bullet "vaporizes" the target on impact. ArmA definitely had serious issues, but OFP still is one of the most enjoyable shooters I've ever played, so I'm crossing my fingers they'll fix their problems.

Same here! I hardly played anything else from Sep. 2001 until 2004. OFP1 is and always will be my favourite game: brilliant community, fantastic gameplay, unlimited freedom, and so many good memories. Neither ArmA nor OFP2 come anywhere close.

yes i have fired a real gun before, i own a bushmaster AR15 (the civilian version of the M4 carbine). and whenever i shoot my AR15 i do not see that much smoke through my scope, i have also used an ACOG before(the scope on the gun in the game) and i can not see the front sight post in the scope either.
This is incredibly disappointing. Terrible. I don't really understand how they can praise about "realism." It may have pretty graphics, but the gameplay and movement style looks very arcade. Too bad. I was hoping OFP2 would be as realistic as OFP1 was. It looks like they went for the hollow arcade-shooter route that has made mainstream games like COD so popular.
Some aspects of the game are looking arcadish. But let's keep it in mind that the game is in pre-alpha stage. On the forums there wa lots of discussion about this. Also there's a thread of list of fixes for the game.
Well yeah sometimes it gives that impresion, I personally think OFP2 is looking much better than ArmA II. About this video well the sound I think it pretty much sucks, but the arcade play it could be maybe because they have played that same part so many times and know exactly what to do or where to go and thats why maybe it gives an arcade impresion, who knows..
Also, arma's story Blows, because it cannot continue from where they left off, so they made a somewhat silly, amusing, and annoying coalition of half army, Half Marine corps. With all of the american gear in the game. Lots of stuff is missing. I fear, (I hope for better.) that Operation flashpoint 2, is going to go for a new crowd, kind of like GRAW, and Vegas for the respective clancy series did. -_- Arma's really a specific niche filler though.. Like you gotta enjoy dying in one shot and stuff
Does everyone realize, that Operation flashpoint, can only continue the storyline, not the game mechanics of Operation flashpoint? BIS owns the engine used for OFP, Codemasters does not, they own the name Operation flashpoint, so what happened was, BIS made Arma, which plays almost just like ofp, except somewhat better graphics/refinements here and there. Operation flashpoint 2, Will most likely be a completely new beast, as they can't rip off BIS's engine, or arn't. At least not from the data.

Please define better... I'm telling you example, take a car in GTA 4 and point car lights towards some AI (man in game) and let him walk in front of your car, you will be able to see that there are no shadows created by car lights, on PC otherwise there will be shadows. Conclusion, console can't handle realistic lighting and shadows and much more...

Here's some info for you:
Byte - a basic unit of measurement of information storage in computer science (nothing to do with the graphics)
1 GB (Giga-byte) = 1024 MB (Mega-byte)
1 MB = 1024 KB (Kilo-byte)
and so on...
1 byte = 8 bits in most modern systems (depends on operating system)

Far Cry 2 has better graphics on consoles? Really?! I had no idea! Man I'm stupid... and I thought that Physix, and Global lighting with realistic shadows is far more advanced than the blurry consoles versions with poor AA... Oh man.. I'm so dumb... Well, we don't even need pixel accurate bullets destroying leaves on trees when we have PS3 where we can blast a grenade next to the tree and tree will stay there... In conclusion... Don't you know that most of the hardware in PS3 is like 2-3 years old compared to the hardware in high-end PC? Can PS3 run Crysis on 1920*1080 maxed out with Physix? NO, it can't run it at all... Please check out Crysis gameplay on youtube on high end PC and then tell me PS3 has better graphics...

Tell me do you know what 3-way SLI with GTX 280 CPUs means, it means 3 gigs of graphic memory, do you know what Intel i7 processor is? It's 4 core proc with hyper-threading so it's being recognized like 8 core proc. Can PS3 do that? Do you even know what DD3 is and what are it's operating frequencys?

I really don't like to argue about grapghic comparison between PC and PS3 and XBOX but you Mhenlomatras really have no idea what you're talking about here... Do you know what is memory, and what is RAM, do you know what is anti-aliasing, do you know what is vertical-sync? Do you know what shader model 3.0 and 4.0 means? I'll tell you what that all is, it's something consoles can't compare with when it comes to PC...

Then I guess you've never heard of .kkreiger? That tech demo "game" is only 96 kb, but the graphics are as good as Quake 3, which takes up around 25 to 50 mbs. Bigger space doesn't always means the graphics would be better.

Then I don't think you know what "compression" means. That .kkreiger program was supposed to be 400 to 600 mb large, but their developers found a way to compress the files to only 92 kb.

GTA 4 doesn't look better on consoles... Consoles can't even handle realistic live shadows. Let me give you a tip, take a car in GTA 4 (console version), wait for the night so lights are turned on and move the car close to any object or bot in game and watch what happens with shadows that car lights are creating... Oh... what...? Nothing happens..? Exactly! No live shadows just pre-mapped ones...

Those "other videos" (I'm assuming you're referring to the ones showing the real world data) are just CG trailers. You can make those with standard 3D programs (eg. Maya). Whether or not the rendered version (finished version) looks as good or not depends on your skill.

Bohemia Interactive's work is famous for making your own maps and stuff. like the famous map editor from OFP. i'm sure they know about all the mods in OFP 1, so i think they'll make an engine that you easily can make mods to.

4 vs 4 or 8 player for console; 16 vs 16 or 32 player for PC. However each man can command a squad of up to 40 soldiers... so do the math PC can expect wars of 640 vs 640 and 160 vs 160 on console. Also 8 player co-op on PC and 2 player on console.

Not really...BIS has really good ideas for games but the reality is they can't make a well working game. ArmA has so many bugs and performance issues it's unbelievable. Codemasters will hopefully make a more finished game that at least you can play.

What I meant was, as a military simulator, I think ArmA 2 will function better. OFP2 videos are sort of disheartening from all of the little errors in realism, for example, faulty reload animations, camo schemes, and incorrect weapon load-outs, not to mention a developers comment that a .50 cal bullet "vaporizes" the target on impact. ArmA definitely had serious issues, but OFP still is one of the most enjoyable shooters I've ever played, so I'm crossing my fingers they'll fix their problems.

Same here! I hardly played anything else from Sep. 2001 until 2004. OFP1 is and always will be my favourite game: brilliant community, fantastic gameplay, unlimited freedom, and so many good memories. Neither ArmA nor OFP2 come anywhere close.

If you have fired a gun, this is the effect, lots of smoke.
Modern battle field is full of smoke, barely see any enemies around.
The game is a simulation of combat, so CoD style is out of question.

yes i have fired a real gun before, i own a bushmaster AR15 (the civilian version of the M4 carbine). and whenever i shoot my AR15 i do not see that much smoke through my scope, i have also used an ACOG before(the scope on the gun in the game) and i can not see the front sight post in the scope either.

This is incredibly disappointing. Terrible. I don't really understand how they can praise about "realism." It may have pretty graphics, but the gameplay and movement style looks very arcade. Too bad. I was hoping OFP2 would be as realistic as OFP1 was. It looks like they went for the hollow arcade-shooter route that has made mainstream games like COD so popular.

Some aspects of the game are looking arcadish. But let's keep it in mind that the game is in pre-alpha stage. On the forums there wa lots of discussion about this. Also there's a thread of list of fixes for the game.

Well yeah sometimes it gives that impresion, I personally think OFP2 is looking much better than ArmA II. About this video well the sound I think it pretty much sucks, but the arcade play it could be maybe because they have played that same part so many times and know exactly what to do or where to go and thats why maybe it gives an arcade impresion, who knows..

Also, arma's story Blows, because it cannot continue from where they left off, so they made a somewhat silly, amusing, and annoying coalition of half army, Half Marine corps. With all of the american gear in the game. Lots of stuff is missing. I fear, (I hope for better.) that Operation flashpoint 2, is going to go for a new crowd, kind of like GRAW, and Vegas for the respective clancy series did. -_- Arma's really a specific niche filler though.. Like you gotta enjoy dying in one shot and stuff

Does everyone realize, that Operation flashpoint, can only continue the storyline, not the game mechanics of Operation flashpoint? BIS owns the engine used for OFP, Codemasters does not, they own the name Operation flashpoint, so what happened was, BIS made Arma, which plays almost just like ofp, except somewhat better graphics/refinements here and there. Operation flashpoint 2, Will most likely be a completely new beast, as they can't rip off BIS's engine, or arn't. At least not from the data.
