  • Billy Cannon, A.K.A Jesus

  • Ole Miss should have tackled him. Anyway, they got their revenge in the Sugar Bowl.

  • RUN BILLY RUN

  • They just had another "Golden Moment" tonight in a game much like this one but without the punt return. LSU 9 Alabama 6

  • @44032-Personally, I don't see where Alabama deserves another shot at LSU. LSU beat Alabama the 1st time fair and square. They really belly ached that the referees stole that game, because of the interception on the 1 yard line. They think that they are going to get sweet revenge this time. I just hope LSU can beat them again and make those folks shut up.

  • @1mrmoose dude imma auburn fan and i know for a fact that the game was a game of what if. Bama beat themselves. and LSU took advatage. Those field goals was one of the MAIN reasons why bama lost. if you really think you are gonna wipe bama from the title game youre an idiot. LSU fans said we stopped trent richardson when he had over 170 yards on the #2 defense in the nation smh get out of here with that bullshit

  • Love to see video of 'the stop'.....'59 Tennessee-LSU....

  • What people don't mention about Cannon's return is that Jake Gibbs for Ole Miss punted on 3rd and 17. THIRD DOWN!!! Seriously. Man, College Football was different back then. Now every game's 51-50. NO FUCKING DEFENSE. 7-3 games are now the exception rather than the norm. Back then, the majority of QBs called their own plays. Now, the majority of QBs can't even call their own audibles and protections. OU is the worst when it comes to this, I swear to fucking god.

  • No one ever talks about how Ole Miss and LSU met up in the Sugar Bowl later that same season and Ole Miss beat the Tigers 21 to 0

  • @jqb4 Off course not, can't win em all. Though we did win the National Championship the year before.... :O)

  • GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

  • Hotty Toddy Go Rebs!

  • Does anyone know the name of the first song? I think it's from nfl films.

  • Was it rigged?

  • Ole Miss thoroughly defeated LSU in the Sugar Bowl rematch. However, Ole Miss should have had to forfeit the game. Charlie Flowers had signed a contract with the New York Giants in December. He and the Giants agreed to keep the contract secret until after the Sugar Bowl. Shades of Cam Newton situation.

  • @lsusc Yes, how long was it before Ole Miss beat the daylights out of LSU? Maybe 2 months?

  • Wish they would do it again! Geaux Tigers!

  • this is LSU Football Geaux Tigers.

  • It would be great to see LSU do this again Geaux Tigers 12 days

  • I'm an Ole Miss guy, but that was the greatest play in on of football's greatest rivalry's best game. Fortunately we got the rematch two months later and took care of business.

  • at the end of the game it was 2nd down and goal with 10 seconds to go.

why didn't franklin pass the ball.

50 years ago and i still can't get over that.

i was at the univ. of miami at the time.

  • @cousinarty

They don;t mention that Ole Miss was punting on first down to prevent LSU from getting a turnover deep in Ole Miss territory.

  • no one ever mentions these teams in the greatest of all time. miss. gave up 21 points the whole year. i have not seen defense like that ever again.

  • That punt return gave me chills. One of the greatest plays in the history of the game.

  • cannon was pretty damn good... even though he was a god damned lsu tiger.

    GO GATORS!!!!

  • GEAUX TO HELL OLE PISS!!!!!!! great vid. it gets those rednecks in such a tissy to this day!

  • Damn, College Football Tickets were 4 Dollars back then.

  • Is that Ron Franklin with the call?

  • @rpg37

The 1959 play by play announcer was J,C, Politzm the LSU radio announcer but I believe that was Ron Franklin narrating the piece.

  • My grandfather was at that game when he was in college.

    LSU FTW!

  • Please some upload this video again in high quality. It would mean so very much to me and my family. Thank you!!!

  • @JasonOusley

Actually this is the best quality I have seen in years. There was no TV coverage of the game just radio. They have put the LSU play by play over the film which had no sound. Some of what you see is coaching film of the day. ANd this was the #1 LSU team vs #3 Ole Miss

  • Oh Boy ...I listened to that game on WWL, what a night!
