It's interesting that many so many people don't understand that even if we are Christians we will go through tough times. Seems like when we turn from sin and towards God everything would be good but it's not that way. We are not entitled to a life free of trouble but these troubles have a purpose. What is the purpose? That's for you to look to God for that answer. Read 1st Peter 4 & Romans 5. I think trouble keeps me humble and gives me perspective. No trouble seems to = spoiled brat.
I remember a time when I couldn't have received or understood the message of this song. An encounter with the living God changed all of that! There is a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory that surpasses our light afflictions (and they are all light, from eternity's perspective). sometimes it is very dark we can not understand what we are doing. i dont see the web i am weaving. i am not able to discover any beauty, any possible good in my experience. yet if i am faithful and fail not and faint not. i should someday know that the most exquisite work of all my life was done in those days when it was so dark. in all of my hurt. i will not be afraid. When you feel fear, realize that it's just "a feeling". You might have feelings of doubt and fear, say ok, I"m feeling this way, but I'm going to STILL trust God. You'll always come out on the other side ! Nothing can seperate us from him if we are his.

@L0leka rain can mean alot of things, another one is, rain=water/shower. When you need cleansing you go to the shower, so if you need something else that needs to be cleanse but ordinary water cannot cleanse it, it is the holy spirit. Just like the song Holy Spirit Rain down. Another meaning can be your life is now facing a drought, your soul and spirit thirst for our Lord. in can be applied this way too.

In fact, God created matter. He created the universe. So, time began when God created the universe. Before that, God was simply existing and time had no meaning (except conceptually), no relation to Him. Therefore, to ask where God came from is to ask a question that cannot really be applied to God in the first place. Because time has no meaning with God in relation to who He is, eternity is also not something that can be absolutely related to God. God is even beyond eternity.

Recently come home from hospital from a terrible episode of depression. It was so dark, I could never have seen it as 'rain'. I heard a quote from C S Lewis. "For believers, this world is the closest we get to Hell. For the lost, it's the closest they get to Heaven". Terrible times, even though we wish God would take them away, always prove useful further along the path of life. I'm so grateful (now!) for friends and family and medical folk that took care of me and my family when I couldn't.

I disagree. It would be a disgrace unto our Father in heaven to even suggest the notion that Satan has any of the power you claim he does. Satan has no power that God does not allow him. Futhermore, Satan has no more power than we choose to give him. When we put our lives in Christ, we are a new creations, free from sin. Disease and sickness are the result of a fallen world that we brought upon ourselves. Yes, we're saved, but we still sin and that is because we, not Satan, choose to.
Mental illness is a disease, not demons. Possession is demons, but you cant say someone with for example, Down's Syndrome, is possessed just because they have Down's Syndrome. What about if we get physically ill? Is that demon possession? It's just being sick!
@fillysunray I have seen miracles. I have seen people lay hands on others who are sick and heal them. Just by speaking the name of Christ and asking for health. I have seen demons possessing children cast out by command in the name of Christ. The Word of God is powerful, it can heal, it can cast out demons. The Power is in Faith. It is truly amazing and a gift from God.

But that doesn't mean everytime you see a person with a mental illness, you should think "Demon Possession", and it also doesn't mean God will always heal you when you're ill. God didn't promise physical health to us here on earth.

It's interesting that many so many people don't understand that even if we are Christians we will go through tough times. Seems like when we turn from sin and towards God everything would be good but it's not that way. We are not entitled to a life free of trouble but these troubles have a purpose. What is the purpose? That's for you to look to God for that answer. Read 1st Peter 4 & Romans 5. I think trouble keeps me humble and gives me perspective. No trouble seems to = spoiled brat.

I remember a time when I couldn't have received or understood the message of this song. An encounter with the living God changed all of that! There is a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory that surpasses our light afflictions (and they are all light, from eternity's perspective). He is faithful, and He will wipe every tear from our eyes. And He does work all things together for good, to those who love Him. I believe that, now.

Reading/Studying through 2 Samuel 6:1-15. Sometimes we only like to worship God through the sunshine, and when (We think) God is "good." We fail to see God is good even when it rains, when things are dark and stormy. God is good and holy in all of this. Bring that rain,. so I may learn to rel on You, oh Lord!!

For example, what if a person wanted to come to God and had a little faith but didn't believe, he would still be heard. God hears every single word/plea that comes out of one's mouth no matter what it is, there is nothing that God doesn't see/hear.

We cry out for mercy - and sometimes even more rain comes - but this brings us closer to relying on God.

@L0leka I think it's a metaphor, he's saying he'll praise God in the good times and even if he goes through the storms of life he's still going to glorify him. Hope that helps :)

@L0leka rain can mean alot of things, another one is, rain=water/shower. When you need cleansing you go to the shower, so if you need something else that needs to be cleanse but ordinary water cannot cleanse it, it is the holy spirit. Just like the song Holy Spirit Rain down. Another meaning can be your life is now facing a drought, your soul and spirit thirst for our Lord. in can be applied this way too.

I know this is a delayed response... but I believe the prayer for rain is an understanding that through trials God brings us closer to Him and more like His Son... and ultimately brings Him more glory.... this should be the prayer of every Christian. As Paul said... Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Before that, God was simply existing and time had no meaning (except conceptually), no relation to Him. Therefore, to ask where God came from is to ask a question that cannot really be applied to God in the first place. Because time has no meaning with God in relation to who He is, eternity is also not something that can be absolutely related to God. God is even beyond eternity.

i would like like to say that GOD has helped me in so many ways lately he made it a great end of the school year for me i had a lot of enemies beacuase i get made fun of a lot and most of my enemies turned into friends at the end of the year and i thank GOD for everyone of them and i love this song and i think of it all the time

Recently come home from hospital from a terrible episode of depression. It was so dark, I could never have seen it as 'rain'. I heard a quote from C S Lewis. "For believers, this world is the closest we get to Hell. For the lost, it's the closest they get to Heaven". Terrible times, even though we wish God would take them away, always prove useful further along the path of life. I'm so grateful (now!) for friends and family and medical folk that took care of me and my family when I couldn't.

No offense yeahtoast, but I have to disagree. If it's not from God, it's from the devil. All real mental disorders / conditions, regardless of whether they're demon possession or a disease, are simply a corruption of purity by the devil. Nobody and nothing else.

I disagree. It would be a disgrace unto our Father in heaven to even suggest the notion that Satan has any of the power you claim he does. Satan has no power that God does not allow him. Futhermore, Satan has no more power than we choose to give him. When we put our lives in Christ, we are a new creations, free from sin. Disease and sickness are the result of a fallen world that we brought upon ourselves. Yes, we're saved, but we still sin and that is because we, not Satan, choose to.

Mental illness is a disease, not demons. Possession is demons, but you cant say someone with for example, Down's Syndrome, is possessed just because they have Down's Syndrome. What about if we get physically ill? Is that demon possession? It's just being sick!

@fillysunray I have seen miracles. I have seen people lay hands on others who are sick and heal them. Just by speaking the name of Christ and asking for health. I have seen demons possessing children cast out by command in the name of Christ. The Word of God is powerful, it can heal, it can cast out demons. The Power is in Faith. It is truly amazing and a gift from God.

@JeffandMaryMills Wow you must have gone far back to view my comment. But I don't understand your comment. I agree - people can be healed by asking Jesus, and people are demon possessed. But that doesn't mean everytime you see a person with a mental illness, you should think "Demon Possession", and it also doesn't mean God will always heal you when you're ill. God didn't promise physical health to us here on earth.
