  • i just had to cry a little cause i felt so good listening to this

  • stupendo... semplicemente stupendo...

  • I CAN LISTENG 817084874180486484854968784110521657498485410584 TIMES THIS SONG....AND NEVER GET TIRED!!!!!! GOD! THIS IS THE KING OF BLUES!

  • lol i just noticed that before i posted there were 1337 comments... anyway, how about you all stop arguing about who stole what from who or if at all and enjoy this fine mans music. demanding an apology from an entire culture, race, whatever wouldn't mean anything if it was granted because in all likelyhood it wouldn't be sincere. Just forgive and forget and let the music bring us together.

  • juking motherfucker R I P 2 artist 2 you all.And the heart of Rock n Roll.I love being BLACK.From a grown man 40 yrs old.

  • just saw cadillac rec~, damn this man was crazy back then haha ...

elvis verion do not come near this one .... long live?(in haven?) to little Walter :)

  • Im just glad to know africans from the jungle came out the bush knowing how to bake cornbread cook grits,, fry up some country breaded chicken and such...or them poor ol white folks would've died of starvation..lawd knows they didnt cook and eat before the black folk came,,,hahaha

  • @RippleEffectWanted most ignorant comment of 2012. the jungle? THERES NO JUNGLE IN AFRICA. I hope you're not black, I'm embarrassed.

  • @sitakishida there's no jungles in Africa?....AHAHAHA...U r the ignorant 1..what an idiot..

  • @sitakishida ya know what..im embarrassed for u too..dumb ass aint even know there's jungles in africa..hahaha

  • @RippleEffectWanted i am africa, born and raised. theres maybe .0000001 percent jungle in africa. if that's what youre laughing at.

  • hahaha....and u are african? and didn't know africa has jungles?... where did u think all of africa's primates lived? ya know all the Chimpanzees, Bonobos, Gorillas, Mandrills, Baboons, and all the other tropical birds and animals that africa is known for. on .00000001 percent of the country?.....u need to go educate yourself.. hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • @RippleEffectWanted You're really lack intelligence my friend...seriously. No one is saying Americans of European descent didn't cook before they stole Africans. But clearly, the vast majority of Southern foods were influenced by the way the African slaves prepared their food. For example frying meats and seafood is an African custom; also the way the food is seasoned. Don't play yourself and think that Africans were lost in the "jungle" before white people came along.

  • Meu isso que é Musica... O resto me desculpe ^^

  • Why can't you all just appreciate the damn song and how good it sounds?!

  • @beejay42 Yeah, I only know about him because of that Cadillac Records movie but it got me really into people like Muddy Waters and Little Walter. They really did revolutionize the music industry. It's sad to see what music is like nowadays because back then it was so interesting and amazing.

  • FYI if blacks invented soul food blues music and such...why were they not doing it before they were brought to america.they didnt just jump off the boat knowing how to pick cotton and cook soul food play guitars and speak english, they were taught to do the work that whites wanted done, the food they wanted to eat,,the music they wanted to hear. to claim soul food or blues are black culture,,is like saying tap dancing a picking cotton are too..cause they were taught that too.

  • @RippleEffectWanted I beg to differ, for the most part, Africans did hop off the boat knowing how to cook "soul food", run, jump, pick cotton, sing, dance, and all the et ceteras. I could spend all day trying to educate you, but you should just take a look at the similarities between African-Americans, continental Africans and other members of the African diaspora. You will notice similarities in how food is prepared, in the music, and everything else.

  • @RobbyMarshal ,african music and food is nothing like southern blues and soul food..r u 4real? Blues and Soul food is a "Southern" thing not a black thing..

  • @RippleEffectWanted Are you sure you've done your research?

  • Comment removed

  • @RobbyMarshal <-- said whites didnt fry or season food before the jungle natives taught them how...hahaha

  • relax everyone we're all of African origin anyway, remember the only race is the human race.

  • @cheesydarkside only if everyone found it that easy to understand

  • easily his best song. absolute legend.

  • btw im a black woman

  • all this talk bout elvis stole this and that from blk folks he loved black music went2blk churches listen to them sing. what white person would do that? hewas good friends with jackie wilson n said he was the greatest singerand when jackie wilson had a stroke elvis in the 70s elvis paid his medical bills. little richard said elvis always loved and admired black music listen2little richard he would know he talked bout white people stealin his songs n he spoke well bout elvis says something

  • love his work !!

  • blacks created many things and dont get the credit but thats ok because in the long run it gets expose to the world.

  • it makes me ashamed of being white. Our race steals everything from Black people and other cultures. We have no culture. hey at least I can admit it.

  • @runxz1 you know, only songs aren't culture.. :)) think about it.. maybe songs (good songs blues rock rock n roll) comes from black people but, white people had, have and will have bigger culture.. (in real life, i mean look around, physic, chemistry) i'm not ashamed to be white !!! but in conclusion i want to say that i love black people especially their music !! only blues... not rap :\

  • @MrTbeli No we stole that from other races too. We were the last race and only here for a thousand years or so. Everything we know, we got from Africans(they have been here for millions of years)and other cultures. Logically it doesn't make sense for us to think history started with us because it did not. It is also unintelligent to think history started with us.

  • @runxz1 Dude you really need to recheck your history... and your science. Whites were not the "last race", and Afros have not been around a million years lol. A million years ago we were ALL in Africa. Some humans left the continent and they branched out to become Euros, Asians, Polynesians, Austroloids etc. Today's Africans are those who stayed. Race itself is a social construct. Also, if by "whites" you mean Europeans, then your way off with us being around only a thousand years.

  • @elevatorisland man, just chill . We haven't been here long. Africans have been here for millions of years. I've read about it. Many skulls found in East Africa are millions of years old. Pretty amazing. We aren't even a true race because Africans are the only authentic race. Some Africans left Africa and some stayed. Many believe that the ones that left changed in appearance over time. How it happened is still debatable. I also read we are all genetically linked to a African woman.

  • @runxz1 u're right man but u're confused. u seem 2 think white people are a new race born of black ppl. u can't say "africans have been around but not whites" cuz those million year old skulls are OUR ancestors TOO. HUMANS have been around. y do u think we're all related to this "african woman"?? cuz she's a proto human. yes, people from africa left and changed over time. it's evolution. that's y we're actually 1 race, 1 species. sorry 4 being harsh b4 but I hope 4 ur sake u can understand this.

  • @elevatorisland no, man I am not confused. You are the one who has got it mixed up. I do believe we came from African albinos and we all have dna from an African woman.

  • @runxz1 There's a great documentary on the evolution of "race". It's NatGeo's Human Family Tree

  • @runxz1 yeah, history didn't start with us but we made it better.. okay we stole music but only blues n' rock n roll.. led zeppelin, AC/DC , deep purple.. is there anyone else better than them? no ! ... but we didn't steal physics right? chemistry? engineer? there are a lot of things that blacks did.. and love them cause they gave us real music, but look around what we white people are giving to whole nation.. (:

  • @MrTbeli Europeans did not create "medicine" or "technology". Mathematics, science, philosphy and architecture were all in existence for thousands upon thousands of years before the first white mutant was even born.

No other group of humanity has the urge to steal and claim all these things, as they see no need to prove themselves for what they have had and are. Racism is also a new concept, spread by the mutant whites to create false superiority and cover up their inferiority complex.

  • @takesun2 Mutant whites ? That sounds awfully racist to me.

  • @takesun2 Everybody builds on the backs of what came before. We all started in the Great Rift Valley. But nobody stole; it just continues on sometimes by pillaging & raping and sometimes by cooperation.

  • @MrTbeli I don't think anyone remotely intelligent can tolerate today's rap music. But before you start thinking that Africans contributed nothing to science, I just want to enlighten you to the fact that Africans understood "the germ theory" long before Europeans "invented" it....And let's not get started on math, I'd be here all day.

  • @runxz1 People are equal and each race has benefited each other in some form, this comment is just absurd you KUNT HAHAHAHAH! you thought i was a calm and collected person didnt ya? fuck maturity

  • @runxz1 you're not self deprecating, you're just ignorant, Im guessing that by your standards the renaissance never happened?

  • @runxz1 Possibly the dumbest comment I've ever seen on YouTube. Dude, that is saying a lot.

  • @runxz1 kissass worm

  • @runxz1 Yeah, I've said that many times. I'm Native and I said that about the 'white' people. I like your comment a million times.

  • @ALAj1989 Thank you, it is true and I have no problem admitting it.

  • @ALAj1989 oh yeah, I wanted to add that we have done that to your culture too and it was extremely wrong.

  • @runxz1 So you're part of a group called "whites" who have no culture? Speak for yourself asshole. Plenty of Europeans have stolen and done bad things. They dominated the planet so what do you expect. Human beings are greedy, and capable of great good or horrible bad. All races have proved this to be true. You ever heard of science? Philosophy? Socrates? Democracy? Just cause you come from a pasty empty white family with no culture don't try and act like that's every other European.

  • @elevatorisland and no dude, everything we learned has been from Africans from science to math to language. What a prick. I come from a decent family but I'm not going to make up shit and lies to make myself feel better at night.

I don't need to steal other peoples things and culture and claim it as mine to feel important.

  • @runxz1 pff. "we have no culture, we stole everything, at least I can admit it". You're not admitting shit you're just a self-loathing idiot who thinks pretending to hate white people makes you more hip and progressive. I've seen a lot of whites like that in America. It's fine to be apologetic for the crimes committed. but don't be blind. Nothing is so "black and white". excuse the pun

That said I fuckin love this song. that's actually why I came her. What a shame people are obsessed with race.

  • @runxz1 Let me re phrase your statement "All american white people have no culture"

  • @runxz1 Don't beat yourself up. There's a ton of great white musicians and a majority of them are original(:

  • @runxz1 Not like we ever created grand masterpieces played by huge orchestras that still after hundreads of years reach the very core of human emotion or anything......

  • @runxz1 Never be ashamed of being white, black or any colour. It's divisive ideas like that that that cause problems in the first place.

  • @runxz1 i'm ashamed of u being white to :D lol

  • @runxz1 Whites in the US might not have culture. But whites in Europe (which is most of us) have culture, like any other country, like the Japanese, like the Vietnamese, like the Mozambicans like the Italians etc. etc.

  • @pinglauwa After all the above nonsense, i almost cried after reading this, there are still people with a brain on the internet! Thumbs up for Mozambico XD

  • @runxz1 ur just suckin up to blacks...be proud of ur race

  • @runxz1 ashamed? go fuck yourself.

  • @runxz1

you should paint yourself black or yellow and wait for white people to steal you...you're just admitting, that you don't know anything about music or cultures.

  • @runxz1 Bitch please. There is no such thing as "white culture"

  • @MrGotchababe exactly because it doesn't exist. Everything we have is stolen from blacks or another race.

  • @runxz1 Mozart? Beethoven? Renaissance? Illuminism? etc etc etc WTF stop being an ignorant american...

  • @MrGotchababe because Europe wasn't populated with white people at all

  • @VotumPhotographer Oh god stop being so american... Europe had a thousand of different kind of cultures through his whole history. American ppl needs to understand they aren't the only one with a culture in this world

  • @MrGotchababe I'm not American, friend... I'm Welsh, hence how I know how many cultures there are in just the UK alone

  • elvis sucks now...the true musicians couldnt get on t.v and perform because of their skin. without these artists, elvis wouldnt be anything...damn honkies...

  • we can't reject Elvis' talent just because there were other artists before him....for god shake!the point is to appreciate everyone's contribution to the music and not trying to find out who is first and who is last......that is my opinion!

  • This is my new favorite song! (:

  • Elvis borrowed from everywhere. Oh, Sole Mio became "Its Now or Never". Compare the 2 melodies, they're the same. There's another tune he stole from either folk or bluegrass tradition, I don't remember the name of that song.

They say good artists borrow, great artists steal. I was never a big Elvis fan. I just want it known that the guy stole from wherever he could--or at least those who wrote his music borrowed liberally from everyone.

  • that's my brothers painting (he's Grego) mojohand.com

  • @bigreddog41 i like this kind of painting

  • @xciteful Elvis was an amazing artist. One of the best singers ever. I loved all of his early music and most of the later commercial stuff. But Elvis never wrote a note of music. He opened up the R&R era for other singers but he didn't create the music that got him on the road to being a legend. He presented it in a package that was acceptable to audiences of that era. He did open up the market for Black music. We all owe him for that. Elvis owes Walter. We owe BOTH of them.
  • Jesus, everything came from SOMEWHERE ELSE. Unless Little Walter was around at the dawn of time inventing musical instruments, he got his inspiration FROM SOMEBODY ELSE. So who cares if Elvis did, also? And every other artist that exists steals from what's came before.

  • @shelovesthewayyoulie Yes, but I think the fact that elvis didnt actually invent rock n roll/anything really whereas all the black guys at the time were doing new progressive stuff. Elvis only became famous because a record producer figured if he could get a white guy to sing black music it would be marketable to the poeple who had all the money at the time. So elvis was a posterboy - yet he gets the name of King an d all the other credit

  • @ArcaneFaith I'm going to have to take a guess here (seeing as I wasn't alive through Elvis' reign) that any title bestowed on him was well earned. It doesn't matter if Elvis didn't invent the style of music because what he did, he did WELL. A lot of black artists at the time who were known didn't write their own music either but they EMBODIED the songs and that was the greater accomplishment. Which is exactly what Elvis did.

  • EXELENTE ! :)

  • Elvis?!?!?! Chuck Berry was THE KING!

  • @peresballo I agree 100%

  • Oh YEAH .. im my like and fav .. awesome ! ...Thanks Kumhui ! Luv ya ! , for featuring ! WooooHa ... cool! =) gus

  • Elvis was a tit.

  • @MrTotallyDave no, tits feel good

  • all this talk about one guy creating this genre is bull. It is true however that due to the segregation at those times elvis became popular with what was essensialy stolen music. he couldn't do it justice though, this song is sweet!

  • i like this song ,,,yea what a way to go,,,,

  • Rock'nroll is but a minor deviation in the greater story of black music. Or rather Western popular music has been borrowing from black music in one form or another for over 100 years now. From Al Jolson to Eminem - for better or worse!.

    But I still love Elvis.

  • WOAH, y'all need to relax. Who cares who did what? This is a great song and Little Walter had a beautiful voice.

  • @RaeeFaSho Sure he had a good voice, but that was NOTHING compared to his pioneering efforts as a blower of the blues harp! He was one of the first ever to play into a mic and amplify it so he didn't get drowned out by everyone else in the band. Then he was THE very first to get effects and distortion into it. Sad he died so young - 38 years old. Like Lennon, dead at forty 31 years ago today, it makes me weep to think of the music left uncreated by their departure...

  • i'm not real :$

  • No, music, no dance, no funk, no pizazz without the Africans roots of Black people. It's all versions of true inner Soul! God's got to give it! It CANNOT be imitated!

  • weeee

  • the 'Elvis stole from blacks'' bullshit story is wearing thin at this stage...The simple truth of the matter is, Elvis loved black artists and grew up surrounded in black music, he lived and died in memphis for christs sakes...and he does a fine version of this song live from 1969 credit were credit is due, he stole nothing just carried things on to another level

  • @008maguire if he didnt pay for it then he fuckin stole it, the only thing wearing thin is the lies from people that still want to claim that he was in love with black people. promotion carried him to another level as the foot of the nations racism of the day on the neck of recording artist of those days kept those artist on the level they were at. As per american usual when most are dead and cant enjoy it it been so called re-discovered. ....thanks. but it never left.

  • @DONNIMETROPOLIS313 ...........Well your clearly a person that know's Nothing about the subject and know's Nothing about Elvis presley ...where talking music here

  • Comment removed

  • HE & SAM FUCKIN STOLE IT. Were the originators of his black music covers paid properly? I know all about elvis, the Rollin Stones that tell you in a heartbeat who their influences which led to fame were. They saw to it that the blacks they re-recorded songs from got paid. Presley who observed, studied black music &dance which is fine, a compliment & to be expected even today, did he pay them like men?. And trust me im a true Elvis fan, but a honest one. Study rock n roll music history

  • @DONNIMETROPOLIS313 ....Name one black singer that was moved on stage to music like Elvis...before Elvis??????......................ehh None is your answer..

  • @008maguire that dance was completely lifted and inspired by black performers. why do you think they gave him such a hard time in the beginning? Its a another flattering compliment to the unsung things that black culture added to the american landscape. The way he worked his guitar on his hip is completely stolen from Bo Diddly. the black dance the hully gully (not the stolen white version of same name that popped up in early 60s), is in his unseen before movements as well

  • @008maguire Earl snake hips Tucker , you have no clue about true american culture because its onesided and its not your fault. im not mad at you, you are just wrong. just like elvis didnt invent rock and roll. he was a talented and gifted performer and a great commercial success. a superstar. But he didnt invent shit.

  • @008maguire .....Chuck Berry...

  • little walter originally wrote and preformed this song. and personally for me this one bombs on the elvis version. shits got SOUL. and im white this isnt one of those kiscks its just the truth

  • @PorcelynneXx Little Walter did NOT write this song. Willie Dixon wrote the song, Little Walter was the first to record the song.

  • @PorcelynneXx little walter did not write this song. learn a bit before running your mouth.

  • little walter originally wrote and preformed this song. and personally for me this one bombs on the elvis version. shits got SOUL.

  • Prefer the original over Elvis' Version any day :)

  • absolutely love this song!!!!

  • i watched the movie allday 2day

  • Ahhh - this reminds me of my mom (RIP - mama) - Friday evening fish fries (every Friday) - house filled with her friends - this song was among the many they played.

  • Black started this terrific music. Young white boys just took it to another level and they were totally respectful of their influences and all the old blues masters.

  • @Cream234 ...perfectly stated! I totally agree

  • The other thing is an article in Jet Magazine had a quote from EP said "A black man is only fit to shine my shoes". WAS BULLSHIT. He was not in that city at that time and was proven a lie. Elvis grew up around black people and was not a racist. If he was, explain friendships of BB King, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Muhammed Ali. Explain his songs IF I CAN DREAM and IN THE GHETTO. Why would he have The Sweet Inspirations, all black women in his band 10yrs? They ALL LOVED HIM. This is stupid.

  • This whole EP stole from blacks is ridiculous. A musician/singer steals everything he hears and makes it his own. Yes EP cut a lot of black's songs but compare original to him they are always drastically different. Do some research and you must listen to original version then listen to original Elvis version. Songs: That's All Right, Baby let's Play House, Mystery Train. Elvis had a country side and he was marketed as a country artist then. Side A was R&B, side B was usually country.

  • Elvis was not the first white to record MY BABE. Ricky Nelson did it in 1957 with teenager James Burton on guitar. Elvis returned to the stage in 1969 and had Burton in his band. The fact that Ricky's record had James on it and that Elvis I'm sure grew up listening to Little Walter's version probably caused him to do it ON STAGE. He never made a record of it, just a concert and it's an album cut. Plus it is different than Walter's. He NEVER did it on TV. Completely made up to play race card.

  • Here is the deal. Little Walter was no doubt a badass. My Babe is a GREAT record. The only thing the movie Cadillac Records got right was the music. The timeline is all screwed and they are leaving out important facts and people. Where the hell is Bo Diddley?? Where is Leonard Chess's brother? They make it seem as though Elvis came after Chuck Berry. Elvis first record 1954 1yr before Chuck. Listen to original THAT'S ALL RIGHT by Arthur Crudup then listen to Elvis, EP is country style.

  • Best song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Grego!

  • Elvis was white and looked good on TV.

Little Walter was a musical genius but couldn't get on TV.

Elvis borrowed everything he had from black musicians.

Little Walter almost single-handedly created a genre.

Little Walter pulled together and preserved several traditional musical styles and made them glow and burn.

Elvis only put it on the Ed Sullivan show.

    Now YOU do the math.

Elvis was not the King of anything.

He was just a white guy who came along at the right time.

  • @hammerogod elvis was the king in the eyes of the white

  • @hammerogod

You forgot something important.. It's the white guys like Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis who got the black guys (Out of appreciation and their love for music), on tv and radio...

  • @MysteryHunterz

I have often wondered just where the music biz would have ended up without the influence of Elvis.

And how high would Buddy Holly have climbed?

And what if the Beatles had stayed in Liverpool and gotten jobs on the docks?

    What about Motown?

What would have happened if transistor radios hadn't come out at about the same time the Baby Boomers were getting hungry for something besides Perry Como?

    A lot of "What ifs"

History is not carved in stone until after it happens.

  • @hammerogod

No need to get excited, obviously elvis was the white delta blues, but it's the sadness of the times, not the person, elvis was good in his own right

  • @hammerogod Must feel good to try and dismiss everything about Elvis because he was white. Who's the racist now?

  • @xciteful

    I didn't dismiss Elvis.

I just added a side-light to his story.

What part of my comment seemed Racist?

What part of what I said was not true?

Did Elvis write music or did he borrow it?

Did he write music at all?

Did Elvis make it because he could get on White stages and Little Walter could not?

Elvis worshipers know so little about the music that made Elvis a legend.

And NOTHING about a LOT of other musicians who got left out in the cold because they couldn't get on Ed Sullivan.

  • Comment removed

  • @hammerogod wen u put it that way...............makes sence

  • @MrForeyblue Nice one - wish I'd been there. I used to go to the Ricky Tic in Windsor. Saw John Mayall with Clapton, Peter Green and Mick Taylor. I saw John Lee Hooker in High Wycombe with the Groundhogs. Good times.

  • How can any of you compare Elvis to Marion Jacobs? Elvis is the King of Rock and Roll, while Marion Jacobs aka Little Walter is the King of Chicago Blues. They are from two very different genres. Elvis is a singer and guitarist, while Little Walter is a singer, guitarist and harmonica genius.

  • Truth is ya'll , all the white artist of the 50's and 60's stole their music from black artist , due to the lack of ineffective copyright laws . Plus many black artist did not own the rights to their music . Now if those same artist owned their music masters , many artist such as Elvis Pressley , Pat Boone and the Beach Boys would not exist . now there is . NO NEED FOR THE CUSSIN THO . WE KNOW WHAT THE TRUTH IS .

  • I saw Walter play in Oxford, about 1964 or thereabouts. He had an unknown British Band called the Yardbirds as his backing group.

  • Okay.. i just listened to the elvis presley version for the 1st time.. it kinda sucks.. just my opinion. Well, it sucks compared to this version anyway :)

  • cadillac records was good but i already studied the blues well before some fuckin mainstream movie came about.

  • @karatecamel jeez. you're so fucking cool

  • @coyotesong bahahahahahaha karatecamel is a fucking douchbag! blues have been mainstream for years what a fucking dickhead

  • Elvis was okay, but he didn't make it popular, it made him popular. I don't think the world would be all that different if he had never existed. I do think the world would have been a better place if artists like Little Walter were given their due in their day.

  • @travelerx for sure! he really was a rip off artist

  • @travelerx I whole heartedly agree that Little Walter is a fantastic artist and am not a huge one for Elvis but I don't think people can discredit the huge contributions of Elvis's popularity to our culture. He played a huge role in bridging the racial gap in the 50s/60s. While not intentional, it's still a big step forward and I don't think American culture would be the same at all without him. Musically, I'm not big on Elvis but his role in American culture isn't something to be dismissed.

  • I'm 14 years old and i even know Elvis Presley stole music from #Chuck Berry, Lil Walter, Big Mama Thorn etc. And i just don't understand why he get all the credit but the originals who were african american s don't get the credit. Come on now..., ya'll know it ain't right. If it wasn't for those songs he covered elvis presley wouldn't be nothing because those were the major hits. That's why when i become a famous singer ima make sure everybody know the originals. # Elvis Presley Whoooo???

  • Elvis Presley copied this song...

  • Im Only 14 And I Love This Song ! : )

  • @JasmineSmiff so? who cares how old you are? you aint the only one, my 9 years old brother likes this music as well

  • @andredidiergijon i was just sayin! so stfu!!!

  • Ah I love this song :')

  • Chess records

  • "My Babe" by Little Walter a blues record...."My Babe" by Elvis a pop record!

  • This is my shit...

  • Cadillac records

  • Lov`n this song !!!!!********

  • Amazing song

I so wish i lived back then to see the evolution of music through out the 50's,60's and 70's

  • 22 people don't know good

music even if it hiits them in the face

    . . .

    Love this Jam

  • 22 people hate fun.

  • great music is right here.. as of today, 21 people are idiots.

  • oh yeah!

  • That the guitar bass riff Brian Setzer stole.
