I test drove one of these last summer and the fuel gauge was barely above E and I made a good 45 min. drive, my 99' would have ran out of gas within the first 10 minutes lol
my ram was way better and nicer and loud as hell had all leather interior and was lifted with chrome 20" with micky mudding tires so suck on those nuts i would still have it if it werent for me flipping it when i went mudding so ya!
Great sound great truck. Im counting the days till I can buy/import £35,000+ VAT for the Laramie (UK) my only worry is the Global Warming brigade will scratch or worse when its parked. The fact that a large volcano chucks out more carbon in one day than man kind has in history doesnt appear to count.
Awesome sound. I have a 2010 Grand Cherokee with the 5.7. The engine is so smooth, I just hate the MDS. Anyway, are you using a tripod or something? I want to take videos in my cars like this, but I can never get the camera to hold still.
the new 2500hd"s with the 6.0 v tech max sounds good and the f250"s dont sound too bad stock either... just a little quiet, but with an exhaust the 5.4's sound excellent
Nice video engine greenwood Texas is a nice pleaseant place to live in! I live in San Antonio Texas! Everything in Texas has to stay big! Just like our pickup trucks!
would leaving the resonator on make it quieter or just change the pitch?? i'm thinking about getting a SI/SO 50HD put on my 07 ram, and this sounds pretty nice, just curious what leaving the resonator on would change?
Multi-Displacement System (MDS) is an automobile engine variable displacement technology. It debuted in 2004 on the 5.7 L modern Hemi V8. Like Mercedes-Benz's Active Cylinder Control, General Motors' Active Fuel Management, and Honda's Variable Cylinder Management, it deactivates four of the V8's cylinders when the throttle is closed.
OK I have a question.....I have the 70 series big block II on my 2009 Hemi Ram and I kept the resonator on. Did you? It's not bad when I am just cruising but if I accelerate while in MDS mode I can hear a bit of drone......how is it on your 50HD?
I've actually switched to the Cherrybomb Vortex, check my other video's for a comparison. Yes, with MDS, there was quite a bit of drone inside the cab. And no, my truck has no resonator on in this video...
@bcw757 YEAH DODGE STARTED TO PUT THAT STUPID RESANOTOR ON THE RAMS I BELIEVE FROM THE 04' MODELS ON UP. U KNOW WHERE THERE'S THE MUFFLER THEN PIPING BUT B4 IT COMES OUT YOU'LL SEE A SMALLER LOOKING MUFFLER B4 IT EXITS OUT. I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY CALL IT A RESONATOR BECAUSE TO ME IT QUIETS THE SOUND OF THE EXHAUST EVEN MORE. IT SUCKS! I HAVE A STOCK 02' RAM WITH THE FACTORY EXHAUST BUT WITH NO RESONATOR AND IT SOUNDS LIKE A MIX IN BETWEEN 50HD & 70SERIES MUFFLER. NO KIDDING! AND IT HAS THE 4.7L
blah you seriously cant like the in cab noise the 50HD series nor the 40 series makes can you? I got the 40 series on my 06 and had to change it out...... was just given me a headache....
Really doesn't bother me. I put it on my truck when the odometer read 300 miles, I now have 40,000 miles on my truck and don't regret putting it on. I commute an hour to and from work everyday and to be honest once you get used to it, the only time you notice it is when a passenger says something to you about it, or you jump in a "Quiet" car...
With the stock exhaust I could never tell either, however it was quickly noticeable with the addition of the Flowmaster. It's not bad, but I won't lie, it's not great either....
You can, but you have to buy a programmer to do so... The fuel savings are minuscule at best, around a 10% gain, however as much as my truck gets driven, that 10% adds up over the course of a year...
No power gain, and the MDS sounds like the exhaust is under water (That's the best way I can describe it). MDS noise is bad under 55 mph, so I've just gotten in the habit of putting the truck in Tow/Haul mode until I'm out on the open highway...
That still is pretty noticableinside the cab. I'm running a super 44 right now, and I'm looking to do the 50 series. This sounds just about right for me. Noise isn't eliminated completely but still not obnoxious like my 44 is now.
i gotta 5.7 with a flowmaster 50 series and a K&N aircharger intake on it....it gets 14.4 in the city when i'm drivin like a grandpa...and about 18-20 on the highway...i've heard from my body who's got a stock 4.7 ram and he gets about 16-18 in the city and like 22 on the highway he said. hope that helps ya cause rams are bad ass trucks
dude i don´t really know the exact numbers in mpg, the only thing i can tell you is that hemi use a lot gas, but is a seriously diference in the acceleration between the 4.7and 5.7, if you are looking for fun buy the 5.7, if you are looking save money in gas don´t even think to get a hemi!
If you're looking for economy stick with the Dak!!! Even with a 4.7 these trucks guzzle the fuel... I get 11-13 in town and 15-17 on the highway. This is a Quad Cab 2wd...
yea the cummins is really good on diesel. they normally get 16-18 city and 21-23 on the highway. then if you have the 35 gallon tank (34 on crew cab) you're getting over 600 miles to the tank in city driving. thats really good.
I get 400 miles per tank (city)on my 2007 2500 5.9 6-speed 2wd.thats unloaded and taking it easy on acceleration and hoping u get green lights and no stops.
what size tank do you have? 26, 34, or 35? if it's one of the 30 gallon tanks, that's really low miles per tank, especially considering it doesn't have 4wd and is a manual transmission. i know majority of the automatic 4wds get what i said before (18/23). i'm thinking the extra emissions bullshit they put on after 2006 is making it worse. just a thought.
Its a 35 gallon tank .my 5.9 cummins doesnt have the emissions thats the 6.7 cummins.I just think the mileage people report its a bit out of porportion. on the highway i get about 20 mpg.But here in L.A.(hollywood) city stop and go driving 12 mpg
I have a 2006 Ram 1500 ThunderRoad Quad. 4.7 liter, 2WD and I get 16 in town and between 19 and 20 on the highway. I put a water4fuel Hydrogen generator on mine and it now averages 18 in town and 24 on the highway. This 2006 is my 6th Ram since 1994 and these are good, solid trucks and with a few mods will get decent mileage. I'm pleased with my Dodge Ram and looking forward to buying the redesigned 2009/2010 model
The superchips programming torqued up the shifting too much which caused what I called the "MDS Thump" It drove me nuts. Everytime the MDS kicked in and out there was a noticeable jerk.... Edge evolution's programming was much better... Not near as bad.
sounds awesome:)i have a 08 hemi ram sport qc ima go next week and see about putting this exhaust on, so far i have heard its the best for these trucks especially since flowmaster designed it specifically for the hemi. how bad is the mds with the exhaust? is there a big difference? Great video man!
Nice! I have an '03 Dodge QC and just bought Flowmaster 50 yesterday... can't wait ti get them on my truck. Would do it today but it is in getting new tires today. You runninging any other mods? I have Superchips and just a drop in K&N till I can get a CAI. Damn tires and the muffler was $900 for this month.. Gotta wait till wife agro settles before I dump the $250 for a CAI.
I've got a CAI, had Superchips, but got rid of it for and Edge tuner, which I haven't purchased yet. At the time of this video, the CAI had not been installed yet...
I didn't buy the truck for mileage, and if you want mileage this isn't the vehicle for you. I get 11-13 in town and 15-17 on the highway. This is a Quad Cab 2wd...
Thanks for making a great demo video. There need to be more people that do the exhaust videos like this. How many people drive down the road with their head right next to the exhaust outlet? I care more about how it sounds INSIDE - like in this video. Thanks again.
Sounds great under acceleration. No noticeable drone. I have an '05 Hemi QC with a Cherry Bomb Elite dual cat-back and it sounds a lot mellower than your Flows...Back to the drawing board!!! MOPAR RULES!!!
