Hey Kyle loved the video! PLEASE do more of these old truck videos.. been watching similar videos from your channel since morning (took a day off :D) and i cant stop!
My dad owned one of these, except it was a manual, and my mom would always take the truck to work, especially if she was running late because she just loved driving the truck. She got lots of speeding tickets in it haha
@christich99 1970's with with a carb, you're looking at 7 to 9 mpg if lucky.
1980's EFI is 9 to 10 mpg, and the 90's Vortec EFI system is 10 to 13mg. Overall the're pretty shitty on gas, But I own an 88 C30 and let me tell you. Never underestimate these Big Block gassers. They have great power, and there still cheaper than buying a new Duramax.
@christich99.......Yes that is ok mpg, but get a modern S-10 for better fuel economy. Why would you think an El Camino be any better on Gas? The El Camino was manufactured with Big Block and small Block V8's. Your average 350 small block Camino gets around 15mpg city, 18mpg highway.
@christich99 If you like small or midsize Chevy models, then get an S10. If you want to go bigger, then you can get a C/10 which comes with a V8 or V6. If you're into cars then get what you feel like. The real question is how much money you're willing to put into your first car or truck. I'm going to be selling my C30 soon, because a job at Chipotle isn't going to feed it's tank forever. Overall, it's a matter of personal preference, and budget. Good luck on picking your first ride.
@jdog942 I messed up. I did not really mean learning to drive. I'm 12 and I'm really into Chevys. I like to think about what I should get for my first vehicle. I'm thinking an S-10 Extended Cab would be perfect. What do you think about that?
@christich99 Go for it. Those S-10's are rock solid, great on gas, and are optional on Manual or Auto. Not to mention cheap to buy,and take care of. No shame in owning an S10. As long as you don't make fun of Dodge or Ford guys, you'll be alright.
I had the exact same truck only mine was an 1983. Also was maroon red, ended up getting a 1997 Red Chevy Dually....my personal favorite. They don't build them like that anymore. I remember moving a giant palm tree with mine. Those trucks were unstopable.....bad mpg, I remember but still a great truck.
@blackandgold51 I love old trucks for the looks but if i was gonna tow over 10,000lbs id defiantly would want a new truck they handle better tow better ride better and the comfort is better
@jdog942 I was being facetious, but that honestly doesn't seem any better, unless you have an actual use for your truck. I understand owning one of these if you work in heavy construction or constant hauling of things back and forth but I know more people with duallies who just buy them for daily drivers, which I will never understand with gas prices being as high as they are and parking spaces becoming smaller and smaller.
@punkmonkey123 So true, I absolutley hate it when people go buy a big Duramax dually, or a Cummins, and they just use it to commute back and foward to places.
What if they sincerely love the truck? I have a K5 Blazer with a 6.2L diesel, it already had an 8 inch lift, I swapped both dana 44's for Dana 60's and converted it into a dually, It's never seen snow, trails or work. I just really loved the look, and the idea of driving a dually. Does that mean you hate me too for not beating the shit out of my truck like the guys on a construction site?
I would only buy that truck for the truck because those motors are junk, chevy took their standard 454cubic inch gas block and built a diesel motor around it, they crack, through rods, blow head gaskets, and catch fire ALL THE TIME! Absolutly amazing truck though
just bought my dream truck, an 80's silverado 454 crew dually! Man i love these trucks! - 85 gmc sierra 454 crew dually dougs headers / magnaflow exhaust, chrome everywhere. gotta love these trucks.
dont know if anyone else has mentioned this or not, but you need to learn these things dont have an electric shut off on the starter (hence the winding noise after it is started) not trying to be a dick. and there is a / under the speedo. that means it has 153k.
@xRAMxDOD I have an 86 chevy dually but it's a standard cab. actually its a c20 that i swapped dually hubs and axle into. it had a dually box and someone put wheel adapters on it to get the dually wheels on... I wanted it done right. my 6.2 diesel went bad I'm running a 350 right now but might put in another diesel. thing is...i like romping on it. the 350 i have is putting out over 300 ponies and it flat out scoots once you get off the line with the 3.21 gears.
@TheUnNerved What gets me angry about C4C is the fact that the population was stupid enough to fall for it. Yes it was a dumb move on the Gov't but at least they weren't holding a gun to anyone's head saying you have to scrap your old proud car. I blame the idiots who are actually stuck with a car payment now.
This truck sounds WAY better than those EXTREMELY INFURIATING Fucking "Jap-Scrap" 4 cylinder "Rice Burners"!!! I bet you could probably do some INCREDIBLY BADASS burnouts in this baby!!!
I tell you Baby this truck sounds BBBAAAAD TO THE BONE!!!! I just love the healthy GRUNT & ROAR of that big ol' 454!!! 100% Pure American Muscle Baby!!! I have a buddy who has a '77 GMC Sierra Classic 454 Crew Cab Dually that he bought new and he uses to go camping, He has a 14 foot Arctic Fox camper on it, He had 3 inch chrome pipes and Cherry Bomb glasspacks installed, He lets me drive it quite often.
When I was little my Grandma had a Blazer of this era, and when she replaced it with a 96 Tahoe, I refused to ride in it until a few weeks later because I wanted the old Blazer back :P I don't remember any of that, but it's a funny story :D Anyway, great video as always!

@jdog942 What about a 1983-1990 S-10 Extended Cab?

jdog942 2 months ago
