My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Jolene VonMillanich, pictured in the video with the young man behind her with his arm around her. Jolene passed away on October 20, 2011 after fighting breast cancer for eight years. Diagnosed at the age of only 17, Jolene was just 25 years old. Fly with the angels dear lady, swiftly and safely into the arms of those who love you.

No disrespect, I'm a lil confused. Is this for breast cancer? Do they have to cut off their breast tissue?

@doorlagmichael Yes, these women are all diagnosed with either breast cancer or the gene(s) that cause breast cancer and elected to undergo a surgical mastectomy. Some of them elected for reconstructive surgery while others, chose to remain in their post-surgical physical status. Unfortunately with breast cancer, mastectomy is often required, along with chemotherapy and radiation to assure that all cancer cells are destroyed

@dinadeluxe You are so right... and yet the life-force is so strong in their eyes! I've been in awe of David Jay's work since I first came across it, but I'm even more humbled in being fortunate enough to know a few of the models. Beautiful work, but even more beautiful ladies!

This video is amazing! Thank you David Jay for this awesome project. I have had a double mastectomy myself and have finished chemo and waiting on radiation. I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, a rare and often deadly subtype of breast cancer. I hope to get my recontruction at the end of this year. I have posted the link to this on my facebook and my blog. These women are amazing and beautiful!!!

@six6cents It's been nearly a year since you posted, how are you doing now? Did the radiation go as planned and have you had your reconstructive surgery yet? I don't post much on here, but you've been in my thoughts and prayers since you commented!
