Beautiful!!! How did you connect the two elastic pieces once you pulled it through? Also, did you sew the elastic in place once you pulled it through?
Please, can you tell me where you get the fabrics because I am learning how to sew but i dont know where to buy fabrics. thank you. if you can get me the address to the place, that will be great... thanks again in advance
your amazing at this im o young and youve inspired me to design clothes your michelle obama dress is so beautiful i love the clothes you do are you a fashion designer because you need a clothes line
I really ike this dress. How many yards of falric should I purchase? I'm about the same size as you and i want to make my dress the same way but knee-length in black
It all depends on the width of the fabric. If you purchase a fabric that is between 45 to 60 inches wide, you probably can make the dress with a 1 1/2 yard of fabric, but I would purchased 2 yards to be on the safe side.
@brianb3000 its not a knock off, it's an inspiration. If it was a knock off it would look exactly like the actual dress. As artists, we are all inspired by different things, even other designs. I mean, how many basic white/egg shell gowns do we see with a sash? LOTS. I'm just saying.....

Absolutely great! I just stumbled onto your show and I love it already. Thank you so much for the step by step tutorial and instinctly knowing what we would ask. You have a great joyful spirit. Keep it up. God bless.
Its nice and on curvier girls we can yse a different colour.
Do you think you can teach us how to sew in the zipper on the dress and also i would LOVE to learn how to sew a wrap dress, u know the kind that u actually have to wrap around ur body...
hey that's pretty good congratulations!!! but i wonder how would that look on a big person like myself, and i say big cause i'm not your average size 12, but kudos to you girl. P.S. I love your personality

I made it for my barbie, when I was 11 years old. But I used better fabric. A recycled old dress of mine, from Barneys.
That Jason Wu dress looked like it was made out of chenille. I wouldn't even make a dress for my barbie out of chenille. Chenille is for bedspreads, and bath robes. I don't care if Wu bedazzled it with austrian crystals. It looked cheap.
It would help if we all had your wonderful figure. BUT, since I am one of the heavier and older folks, I'm wondering if this dress would still look so beautiful. I am 55 and weigh about 160 pounds on a 5'2" frame. Do you have any suggestions for we who are a bit "thicker" ? Thanks so much
I think this dress would look lovely on you. The bottom of the dress is very loose so women of all sizes can wear it. You can also make the top a little looser so it will give you more room, add a scarf or jacket, and you will be ready to go.
Honestly it does not look exactly like her dress. Her dress had some doodads on it, plus the skirt was fuller. However, for less than ten bucks that dress looks pretty darn good. Do not forget to check out yard sales as well for supplies such as fabric, thread etc. Also, you might try and learn to knit. It is fun and it can be cheap if you know where to buy cheap needles and yarn...second hand stores and yard sales, and the clearance rack at Joann's fabrics and walmart.
ok so i just wanted to know if u knew how to make the dress fantasia has in the video jamie foxx featuring fantasia do what it do look it up on youtube and please at least try cux i really want that look
You can actually get away with out using a zipper if you are using a stretch fabric. Just make sure you don't cut your fabric too short. You will be in trouble because you probably will not be able to get it over your head. You can also try adding elastic at the top of the dress instead of using the zipper. You just want to make sure either way you are able to pull the dress over your head and that the dress can slide down your body.
first time seeing a couple of your videos and love them so far. I would suggest you come closer to the camera for some portions so we can get a better view.
That was a gorgeous dress and you made it so simple! I sew so I'm gonna be using that technique to make a whole bunch of summer dress! Got a whole lot of fabrics too!

Question: If I wanted to use buttons instead of a zipper, would I have to cut the fabric longer than my actual measurements?
Also, if I wanted to mke the bottom of the dress poof out like some sort of ballgown look, how would I do that?
Please and thank you!
