i live near edinburgh and last year my college was shut for 2 weeks with the snow probs have bad snow had the most rain in like 100 years in fife and i think the snow is comeing in i seen some near greenland a few days back
@G4RR34 I live in Essex on the UK and from what I've researched and learnt anytime soon really. Late November early december but it's meant to be another harsh one!
I don't quite understand why it caused so much trouble YET AGAIN. This constitutes regular winter weather, so why are people always so surprised (or even unprepared) when it does snow? Putting this into context, I don't think a single school was closed in the area around where I live (countryside), yet in other parts of the country they had much less snow than us (mostly cities), and every single school or public ammenity was shut. It goes to show that being a country boy sometimes pays off.
@alyr315 yep, we're not used to it. At least you have boiling hot summers. Our winter's are cold/freezing, our summers are wet and usually very average. 20C a lot of the time
not quite sure what all the fuss was about tbh, the snow was much heavier last year when we had 30cm, not 5-10 that we got this year. this is also one of the most pear-shaped winters as it hasn't snowed since January 7th!
What the fuck is this? In Western New-York state this is considered light winter. We get temps below 0 F on a regular basis from december and January and get hammered with snow storms that dump over 20 inches of snow. But for the UK that's very cold. For us it's mild at this time of year.
@alyr315 US cities are more prepared for snow; the UK is not. Why you ask? Well the UK usually gets years where the winters are "mild, meaning no snow and temps lowestest at 5c. However, over two years we have experienced much harsher snow and colder weather that we are not used to and thereofr not prepared for at all. We don't have the right equipment for this stuff; most snowey cities that are use to this are.
@alyr315 Our average winter temperature in London is usually 45 F so this is extremely early winter weather for the UK, although we should be more prepared!
Theyve said that this winter will be a repeat of 09/10 winter, though where in uk which gets affected will differ so instead of southern/eastern england being worst hit this year itll be north of lake district...
snow is wkd and we gonna get more and more so u gonna have to deal with it if u dont like cause the uk is just gonna get cooler not warmer.. its about time the uk got more snow and not just a little bit so bring it all on bring more snow
Didn't this BBC News Special only happened because a football match that was going to be shown under 'Match of the Day Live' that night got canceled because of the snow?

Britain should hang it's head in shame! We act like it's the end of the world when the truth is, it's a bit nippy and the roads are slippery!
