Wow, the audio is really great -- and the camera stayed stationary! I hate bootlegs that can't stay still and sometimes go out of focus or way off view of the performers.
Is there any way you could post her "A New Argentina" and/or "Don't Cry for Me Argentina"? I'm dying to hear her do those. I found the recording they did for her world tour, but it was on the Australian iTunes, and therefore I can't buy it. :(
My wife and I saw Florence Lacey in Evita at the Ahmanson in LA and The Terrace Theatre in Long Beach. She was the very best of the Evitas. This video does not do her justice!! We have her poster as Evita framed in our family room.
I went to school with Flo and she was shy and no one expected much from her...then she sang. She completely transformed. No one could touch her. I remember she and I went and entertained the professors wives at University of Pittsburgh she was great and I played the piano..but I can't play the piano it was funny. hi flo
i remember seeing her tour the show here in vancouver back in the eighties. i was a wee thing back then but i remember this performance well. great to see this on youtube. her diction is crystal clear, far superior to lupone's.
Interesting to note that Florence Lacey was the longest running Evita I can think of. She started out doing matinees for in place of Loni Ackerman in LA, did an extensive tour, did Broadway and regional versions, and then another World Tour in the 90s. She was wonderful no matter the venue. Her Evita was a fabulous at Claremont College as it was under the blazing lights of the Shubert Theatre in LA :)
finally an evita that isnt a patti imitator or someone who sounds like a nine year old with a high belt. this woman sounds like someone who did evita their own way!

Florence Lacey was the first Evita I had seen (out of what would be many) when the show toured in Detroit, I think it was 1983. She was stunning.

I saw her in Hello Dolly when she toured with Carol Channing in 1995. She was fabulous then and is still fabulous today

Love my Flo CD, but it's nothing compard to the power in this performance. The recording slightly 'polishes' her.

Flo holds the record for the most performances of 'Evita' (about 4,000!). She has an *amazing* contralto voice, which packs one hellava punch!
