Especially with the new NVIDIA GTX 480 coming to stores on April 12th. It's supposedly 6 times more powerful than even the GTX 285. All that for $500.
maxwell had so much potential to be the best, because it does produce the most realistic renderings with amazing lighting, but it is slow and hard to use. Real time renderers like Hypershot are taking over, eventhough the results are no where as good as maxwell
The difference between renderes such as hypershot and maxwell is that maxwell is a unbiased renderer, meaning that it will calculate the true physical path that lightrays will take while traditional biased renderers (vray, mental ray, hypershot, etc.) make a good guestimate on the light intersections. this is what makes maxwell so hard to learn but extremely realistic, since it shows the true physical behavior of light.
If your application is crashing during large renders it's probably not the renderer, it's that your computer can't handle either the memory or processing load.
That being said, Maxwell renders in a stand alone application (i.e. not in your modeling application), which I would imagine would lend itself to being more stable.
Let´s wait for improve speed in version 2.0, coming immediately.
When I have to do an animation my limit is 15 minutes per frame. If you need to use displacement maps, SSS and complex lighting in a render, 15 minutes in a QuadCore is a real challenge...
A very nice render, it would be exiting to see such grapich using in real time , consider how much betther the grapich can be render in real time now compared to back in 2000, wonder how it can be in the future, probly good as thise renders can do in non-realtime.

yes, maxwell is accurate and also very demanding to computer power...

how demanding is it?

@TheRealHero1 that renderer is really sexy. I am looking for tutorials to gte sorted, dude you have any idea where I could find at least one.

Actually it will get even better than this realtime somewhen in the future.

I've actually thought this too. I've dreamed about producing real-time renders like this in the future.
