  • Are you planning on purchasing a new one?

  • @The360gamerzz

Yes, definitely. Want an HD 5970, but I'll likely settle on a 5870 (Sapphire Vapor-X, for cooling w/ low noise). Could replace the smoked 4870x2 for much less, but I just can't justify spending if it's not an upgrade.

  • I started out with the Commodore 64, too. I can't really remember much from it, though. I think I remember a teenage mutant ninja turtles game. Probably turtles in time. And also a side scrolling shooter Midnight Resistance. Awesome game. Really wish I could remember more from there.

  • @Pushtrak

Some of my fondest C-64 memories are of River Raid, Winter Games and Pitfall. Ah, such simpler times....

  • 1. Fallout

    2. Silent Hill 2

    3. Half Life

    4. System Shock 2

    5. Super Metroid

  • @The360gamerzz

    SH2 was definitely terrific.

  • @LibertyIsNotGiven I've not played The Witcher, I'll definitely check it out. Have you played Mass Effect 2 yet and if so how would you say it compares to the original?

  • @The360gamerzz

I would say that ME2 is generally "better." My main problem is how they dumbed-down the economy. ME1 could turn your inventory into a mess, yeah, but instead of fixing this, they pretty much removed the economy altogether. Now you have this planet-mining grind for upgrade resources, which is OK but gets old fast, and there aren't enough explorable worlds to always make it interesting.

Combat in ME2 is much improved, IMO, and I think the characters are a little more engaging.

  • @LibertyIsNotGiven I personally thought it was a better game as well. But I definitely agree with you on the economy. I think a lot of things they really dumbed down, for example the levelling system. Just wondering have you played Dragon Age: Origins? I think it might be a game you'll enjoy.

  • @The360gamerzz

Yeah, I have DA:O and Awakening. Recently lost my video card in a service neutral failure, so I didn't get around to the expansion, but the core game is fantastic. I had a couple of mods in progress as well, which were also derailed by the video card loss.

  • @LibertyIsNotGiven That's sad. Do you think of 're-doing' this video?

  • @The360gamerzz

It's tragic. With onboard video only, I've been reduced to playing Guild Wars, Mount & Blade and Warcraft 3. :|

If I were to make a list now, I would probably replace ME with ME2. Dragon Age might dethrone The Witcher, but I'm not sure about that.

  • HONORABLE MENTION HALF LIFE 2 and Episodes? Are you kidding me? They should be in the top of every gamer. You don't know what true games are.

  • @alex19589

There are "true games" that aren't FPS, believe it or not.

  • i like your shirt. Is it a micro machines shirt.

  • good rpg games to i love rpg games such as morrowind and oblivion good choice dude and also have u play fallout 1 and 2 its so dif to fallout 3 but still all good games :3 oh and try css ( counter strike source) and half life 2 there good games also try mmorpgs u should because there is alot of games.

  • crysis

    crysis warhead

    crysis wars

    u dont have a clue

  • what about knights of the old republic?

  • What did you think of Rome: Total war? And now that Empire total war is out, what do you think of it?

  • Well of course everyones got there own opinions but I thought age of empires 2 was way better than rise of nations and age of empires 3 also

  • sry but AOEII >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>AOEIII

there's no doubt, everyone who has played both understand me

  • **"there's no doubt, everyone who has played both understand me"**

Sorry, but as someone who has played AOE, AOEII and AOEIII, I disagree quite strongly. You should be careful when using qualifiers like "no doubt" and "everyone."

  • I sold AOEIII lol, AOEII is the shit.

  • I dont know how old are you but you never played

    Fallout 1 and 2?

    System Shock 2?

    Planescape Torment?!?!? (Best game ever?)

    Deus Ex ?

    All are really great games!

  • **"I dont know how old are you"** - Too old.

**"Fallout 1 and 2?" - Inferior to FO3, for game mechanics if nothing else.

**"System Shock 2?" - Never played it.

**"Planescape Torment" - Enjoyed it back in the day, but it's not the "best game ever."

**"Deus Ex" - Never really cared for it.

**"All are really great games!" - Not disputed, but they don't make my list. ;)

  • Hmm Okay... Wasn't trying to be offensive btw with the age question (now that I re-read my post it looks like that). But it seems you started playing games in recent years.

The games you played looked relatively new.

Fallout 1&2 for me has a whole different place in gaming history. This is the only part I strongly disagree.

(Godfather part 1&2 vs part 3)

    The rest I can understand.

    Dont get me wrong

    Thanks for sharing your list.

  • **"But it seems you started playing games in recent years."**

I have been gaming since the 1980s. My first system of note was a Commodore 64.

**"The games you played looked relatively new."

I tend to favor the new. I'm not nostalgic about video games. They're more on the level with books, in my opinion. Play and move on, repeat only under on exceptional circumstances.

  • up the c64 one of my fav consoles love it my fav game is bomb jack or monty on the run great vid

  • Did you ever try the first Neverwinter Nights (Including the expansions)?

  • Oops, disregard this comment, I didn't completely watch the video before I commented.

    Well, Great list though.

  • olbivion and fallout FTW!!!!

  • ya it is quite hard to pick only 5 i picked mine by jsut figuring which ones i played the most...most addicted

  • cmon man supcom is like the best game i have everplayed in my life..if you are highly ranked and skilled at it you take the game to the next level..but non teh less thanks for the mention!...btw have u ever played tiberium sun or any redalert games. my list would be... 1.supreme commander+fa 2.pokemon...lol 3.halo2 4.zombies ate my neighbors 5.vice city hon mention -zelda...all of them -mortal combat...all of them -unreal tournament...all of them including unreal champ 2 coolgame.
  • I love SupCom. It easily could have been included in the top five. Some of them are simply arbitrary since I wanted to restrict the list to only five, hence the honorable mentions.

I have played all of the CC and Red Alert games except for Tiberium Sun, oddly enough. Haven't messed with the new one much yet, however.

  • ya supcom is great so u play often on gpg by anychance...btw very great video

  • also you should REALLY try oblivion , i also love all the Elder scroll games. they are my favs

  • **"you should REALLY try oblivion"**

Well, I DID list Oblivion as #1 in my top five, have modded the game extensively and played through it multiple times. So yes, you might say I enjoy it and have since the day it was released.

I never got into Starcraft, but I'm looking forward to giving Starcraft 2 a try.

  • yeah ima HUGE age of empire/mythology fan. i still play #2. And starcraft rules.

  • TOTAL WAR FTW!

  • well liberty..i realy think you are too late to play WOW anyway...but you missed one hel of a game..and it is worth the month subscription..otherwise 6 million gamers wont pay it.

  • I'm not too late, but I've no intention of subscribing. The number of people who played it is not really relevant to my opinion. As noted, I DID play it, but it just wasn't for me, not with a monthly fee anyway. Had it worked more like GW, I might have been interested.

  • world of warcraft?

  • **"world of warcraft?"**

I played it for a few days in trial mode and could not justify the monthly charge. I'm not a big MMORPG person anyway, so Guild Wars is close enough when I feel like going down that road. I've got all three GW campaigns and the Eye of the North expansion, and that's enough for me in the online RPG department.

  • Streetfighter II Turbo, Mario Kart (ALL!), Total Annihilation, Supreme Commander, Call of Duty 4.

  • Ye gods, top five is hard! I could give top ten, and in no real order.

Thief (The Dark Project & The Metal Age); Sins of a Solar Empire; Portal; Myth: The Fallen Lords, Fallout (1,2,,& Tactics), Homeworld (1&2), Basically all Command and Conquer, Starcraft, Diablo, Civilization III

A note on Fallout. I doubt any RPG will ever compare to the first two Fallout games. Maybe I am unreasonable, but I think I was spoiled.

  • Er, top ten-ish ;)

  • Yeah, the old Thief games are great. Sins is s staggeringly fun and underrated game, perhaps the best space-based RTS, and I'd call a Homeworld 2 a close second behind it.

I checked into Fallout 1 and 2 after playing through 3. It's still early, but I gotta say -- I personally think (so far) that Bethesda did the series a favor. FO3's short main quest (by RPG standards) is a slight let-down, but aside from that I think it's generally superior to the old games.

  • Most of my favorite games were the ones I was basically raised on. Just hearing the music from Tiberian Sun brings me to the closest thing I've had to a religious experience. Like I said, I probably have unreasonable standards. I'm sure they've improved from a technical viewpoint, but they seem to have lost the soul of the series. It's hard to describe.

For another timeless series, try Myth. It was developed by Bungie, but the player community has eagerly taken over maintenance.

  • Myth III looks interesting. I might give it a try. Part of my problem is that I have a widescreen monitor with a native res of 1680x1050. Playing old games is a miserable experience unless someone has released a patch or work-around. And even without that issue, I hate having to squint at dated textures and interfaces, so I'm a bit biased in my own right also.

  • I haven't played Myth III, but I've heard the usual complaints from purists. My monitor is 1440x900 and I can bear the graphics well enough, but then again I do play using the Project Magma version. They've done much of the work keeping the series up to date. Also, if you want to see one of the first physics engines in a game, Myth is where to go. In fact, it was with the Myth engine that Bungie prototyped Halo. In the Halo soundtrack there's even a nod to one of the Myth tunes.

  • tiberian sun is my childhood fav

  • 1. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2/Yuris Revenge.

    2. Final Fantasy VII

    3. Metal Gear Solid

    4. Super Mario World

    5. Resident Evil

  • For about 1.5-2 years I was seriously addicted to C&C:RA2/YR. I played it on-line with people for hours. 10 hours a day easy. So good.

  • I must say you have a very good taste in games. Almost all of those games on both of your lists are some of my favorite, epsicially Medieval II, Half Life and Fallout 3

  • Operation Flashpoint is probably the most underrated shooters out there. Have you seen the videos for OF2? It looks amazing!

  • remember: each strategy/RTS game is not anarchist! ;)

but i'm also keen on rts's. Despite weak graphics, due to it's age, i recommend you "Cossacks", the most playable RTS ever 4 me.

  • F3 definitely deserves game of the year. I was initially disappointed to learn that Bethesda had taken over the franchise but after playing I can say that it blows every other fallout game out of the water.

  • No. Just no.

  • My top five would be

    1. Super Mario 64 (Yeah yeah, shut up.)

    2. Deus Ex

    3. Fallout

    4. Starcraft

    5. Kotor

I really want to play Fallout 3...I just need a PC to handle it, or a 360...I can probably get one of those pretty cheap nowadays.

  • 1) GTA 4

    2) Super Metroid

    3) Doom

    4) Super Mario Galaxy

    5) Ikaruga

  • **"if prices for goods reflected demand and scarcity"**

Heh heh. A lot of games could benefit from that. There's a mod or two for Oblivion that try to enhance the economy, but I don't know of any that have been ambitious enough to truly simulate S&D.

  • I have over 100 mods installed for Oblivion right now that change basically everything in the game.

My favorite is probably Martigen's Monster Mod combined with Francesco's. I also use Oblivion XP levelling, which is a really neat levelling mod (I used to use Kobu's).

  • **"I have over 100 mods installed for Oblivion"**

Heh, ditto. If you haven't tried Deadly Reflex, give it a go. Adds some much needed gore to the game.

  • Tetris, Mario, Street Fighter 2 & Snake are my favourites. Very old school I guess...

  • I suppose I'm a bit 'old school' when it comes to games. Everytime I think of one of my favorite games, it's on nes or snes. :P

    Half-life is always good though.

  • Good list. You seem to be quite fond of story driven games, as am I. I'm also a PC gamer almost exclusively. Since you liked Fallut 3, I really recommend the first two if you haven't played them. F3 is entertaining for sure, but I think the first two are real masterpieces. Also, since you liked Mass Effect, I would recommend other Bioware games, especially the first KotOR. Even if you don't like Star Wars, you would probably like the game because of the great writing and the great gameplay.

  • BadYahweh, yes, the story is generally the most important thing, providing the rest of the game isn't so bad or outdated as to detract from it.

Haven't played Fallout or Fallout 2, though I would like to now. I've played both KotOR games, and they're quite good even though I don't care much for Star Wars.

  • C643, can't believe you didn't mention commando!!!!!!!.

    N64 - golden eye, mario cart 64, F Zero - x, pilot wings.

Amega - street fighter 2, quick money, Chaos engine, silkworm, Newzeland story.

PC - Empire earth, command and Conquer red alert 2/Generals.

Cand C 3 and Red alert 3 are both out within a year of each other.

Never played supreme commander, but EVERYONE says this is fantastic so I NEED it!.

If your up for an online RTS I'm well p for that!!!, it is what i live for!.

  • DAMN, can't believe I forgot unreal tournament!!!!!!.

    ...And croak/frogger for the amiga.

...And puzzle bobble for the ps1.

...And space invaders and bomber man lol

  • I'm not sure I ever played Commando on C64. The only military games I recall having are Beachhead I and II and some side-scrolling mess called Green Beret.

    I too was Frogger fan.

Empire Earth I and II are exellent. EE III sucks epically. I do recommend Supreme Commander if you're into RTS. The nukes are fun.

  • C and C 3 suffers from the same thing that generals suffers from in my opinion and will be pretty fucking awesome when the mod comes out. Zero hour mod with generals was excellent in my opinion, but Generals was poor man!.

there aren't enough maps for skirmish missions and there isn't enough weapons. The tech tree is also limited. You can set the AI for rush, mass attack, defensive etc, that I really like an there are some really interesting unit combination factors.

  • And I have just realized that your talking about empire earth three lol. I have never played it, why do you hate it?

  • **"why do you hate it?"**

Eh, they just dumbed it down to the point of irrelevancy. Most of the epochs were removed, and the research trees were scaled back to a ridiculous extent. Graphics engine is choppy even with a high-end card. It's one of the most boring and sloppy RTS games ever, in my opinion, which is even worse considering the franchise it's part of. I was disappointed, as you can probably tell.

  • fair enough, i have never played it.

  • I've played River Raid before but I'm not sure where. I could have swore it came out for the NES but according to the Wikipedia page it didn't. Maybe it was something very similar.

I liked Total Annihilation a lot. How much better is Supreme Commander?

  • Golden Axe

  • Half-Life 1 and 2 both revolutionized gaming. They were jaw-dropping when they first came out. And Portal is the greatest surprise ever. Assassin's creed and COD 2 and 4 are great too. I also have great hope for Mirror's edge, Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2.

  • I forgot all about Assassin's Creed. It is absolutely amazing in every respect. I too am really looking forward to Mirror's Edge.

  • super mario cart

  • 1. Diablo II

    2. Diablo II

    3. Diablo II

    4. Diablo II

    5. Starcraft BW

  • I still have to play through Fallout 3. I just now got Crysis: Warhead and Farcry 2. I used to spend alot of time on Flashpoint, UT2k4 (more time than any other game too!), and Rome: Total War.

  • I was hooked on RTW until Medieval II hit the shelves. Fallout 3 is great and I think it's going to prove very replayable. I hope they release the editor.

  • 1. Azure Dreams

    2. Disgaea 2

    3. Sonic 3 & Knuckles

    4. Dragon Quest VIII

    5. Final Fantasy VII

  • Chrono Trigger is definitely in my list, just for being so fun and awesome. Though I thought Final Fantasy 7 was way overrated.

  • Definitely, Chrono Trigger is way more awesome, than FF (But Suikoden II still wins).

  • 1. Halo 2 Xbox

    2. Command & Conquer Tiberium Sun on PC

    3. 007 on N64

    4. Caesar III on PC

    5. Gauntlet Legends on N64

  • I have always wondered about the Caesar franchise but haven't tried it.

  • Can you put a link to the vid Lib.

I think I have to respond.

    I'm playing wither, Love oblivion.

  • Danmill, sure thing. It's in the description now.

  • not into the RPGs, but I love UT2k4. As far as empires goes, I prefer age 2. Age 3 was good, but the multiplayer wasn't nearly as fun. HL2 is lots of fun. The rest I've either never heard of or I don't really care for.

  • Great taste! Morrowind and Oblivion rule, I share your initial reaction with the Elderscrolls series - they are almost overwhelming because there is just so much to do.
