i heard a rumor i think about nightwish and tristania and it is i think when nightwish had the world tour with once album tristania playd as a warm up for nightwish and tristania where so good that tarja tuomas jukka emmpu marco got so pissed off that they refused too play the part of the show and took the first plane from london that evening hahaha . proved that nightwish wasnt a perfect band even though when tarja was a nightwish member hahahahahahahahah !!! =)

Moonspell are awesome, they are one of the best portuguese bands but they don't have the same style of Tristania... Moonspell are good and Tristania are good.

Within temptation, Nightwish, Epica and After Forever are fucking awesome and Tristania is fucking awesome.

Arch enemy is melodic death metal and Tristania is gothic metal (they are not the same style) and they are both amazing

Get a cllue, Opera requires the most skill to sing. It's not the opera that's lacking but the usual typical musical arrangement that lacks luster. Thats why I feel that these bands shouldn't be called epic, for aside from exceptional lead vocals, the majority of the musicianship is rather flat and uninteresting, even oft verging on dance-music.How simpleton and highly un-epic.Take Rhapsody for example, now that's composition!

Kamelot's vocalist is an amazing singer. His voice is definitely something special, and he studied opera 3 years, so it's not like he's doing it without technique. And in my opinion his voice is one of the things that make Kamelot's music so beautiful. Can't say the same about Avantasia's Tobias Sammet though.

And Within Temptation...well...if you listen to their latest single, Utopia, it just makes you want to cry.

@Psychopathish Well Nightwish isn't really Gothic music it's symphonic/power metal. But to each his own, Tarja does have a grand voice that melded perfectly with Nightwish's powerful music. Sadly Tristania didn't use Vibeke's voice enough, but from what we are privileged to hear on the albums, to me she's simply the best. She has one of the most stunningly pure and crystalline voices I've ever had the pleasure of hearing.

Tristania's genre is not so simple, They combine symphonic elements, dark melancholy of gothic music, Death vocals and even Black metal influences and vocals (listen to libre or angina) This is what makes them so good and special but their lyrics are always about Darkness and Themes of Macabre therefore better classification would be Goth metal
