This was a great radio station when I was serving my last three years of high school at Wesclin Jr. & Sr. High(1971-1974), in Trenton, Illinois. Eric Claptons' Layla riff was the stations' theme at the time. I am glad that I got to experience this during its' great years.
Looks like a set of ADVENT speakers, can't make out the receiver(Pioneer?)
I remember going down to the station when it was no more than a large brick photomat and knocking on the window and trading joints for albums and other KSHE gear, If you think it's not true go ask J.C he must have handed out half the studio but he always had pounds and pounds of pot when he lived in AUDABON PARK.
@GashR87 Come on, dude, they play the same old shit all the time. Name a popular band, and it's one of 2 or 3 songs they play by them, and that's it... and if hear "golden country" by REO one more time, I'm gonna kill someone... or Nickelback. My God, KSHE sucks. I can't tell you how many songs they've ruined for me because of the repetition.
You know it's true.
And it's such a rare occasion to hear any metal there.. just pathetic... same 'ol, same 'ol...
At least you still have KESHEATER radio. Corperate radio assholes killed KY102 years ago. We used to heckle our friends in St Louis. Truth be told both used to be good radio stations that played local talent and more than just the top tracks. Music industry is a sad sad version of its former self. Hence American Idol crap and 2 or 3 corperations owning most of the radio stations in the country.
KSHE has been owned by Emmis Communications of Indianapolis since 1984, which was around the time this spot came out. It isn't that the corporate owners changed, the way radio does business is (which isn't necessarily a good thing.)
I remember these commercials from when I was a kid, thanks to my parents I grew up with KSHE, have to agree with hendodabest though...sad to say, just a sign of the times.
This station was geat till the corporations took over. Now it is a shadow of its former self. When will corparate america get a fucking hint. You are ruining everything.
I'm looking for the KSHE 95 commercial where you see a woman dancing in the shower with Led Zepp's 'Wanton Song' in the background and at the end of the commercial, Ruth Hutchison peeks out from the shower curtain. HELP!!!
This is awesome! I live in O'Fallon, and K-SHE 95 is my favorite radio station, but since I was born in 1990, I never knew they had a commercial for it in the 80's...
they had two like this one. this one and one that had a grandma in it. can any one tell me who had the furniture store commercials that had the closing line "at ............ theres no monkee busniess "
K-She should go back to the good music! There is too much noise rock now! I consider Nickel Back okay but not compared to The Doors or The Who because they are real legends who's music you wont forget in 3 years.
I understand that the KSHE depicted in that commercial is now being aired on their HD sub-channel...just heard a promo with "Radio Rich" Dalton announcing that fact!
Cool. Anyone remember Ruth Hutchinson? I grew up with KSHE in the late 70's and 80's. I usually only listen the Classics Show on Sunday Mornings. A lot of the music I listened to then is showing up on Sunday Morning. Guess we are all slowly becoming classics.
As a St. Louis radio rat (and former PD at an STL station), I remembered and LOVED this spot...HELL YEAH, BRO'! YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD TO ROCK AND ROLL!

I loved KSHE 95. Nektar, Joe Walsh, Moody Blues, Yes, Mahavishnu Orch.
It was awesome. I got it on old radios with fair-to-bad reception, but I never missed a day without tuning them in.

In the '80s, as a teenager, KSHE was the sh**!!!!
I've never seen any other radio station that had such wild commercials, and marketing, like Tshirts and mugs and stuffed pigs.
Thanks for the vid.
