I made a connection flight through Frankfurt, Germany in 2003 and the place was almost abandoned! I had to wait an agonizing four hours for my next flight. I wandered up and down the international departures area. It was so creepy. I felt like Jim, the Briton in the movie "28 Days later." It freaked me out to the point that I walked clear across the terminal to the gates and voila! Security! I hung out there until they sent the bus to take me to the plane, which had only 12 passengers!
