  • Hey Ron, I have a 97 powerstroke and i think the ebps might be bad but im not sure, when i give it idle at a consistent rpm it sounds like its building preasure in the exhaust or the turbo and it wont stop unless i give it more gas or completely let off, i really am not sure what to do, i pulled the ebp tube off and it was cracked and the sensor was filled with soot but will that fix my problem if i replace it? if you could let me no what you think thatd be great. Thanks

  • thanks for tip just fixed my problem and was very helpful,100o/o dead on

  • That crayon trick works, Thanks

  • Having the same problem with my 2001 F450 , When its cold it starts the same way as in this video, idle lopes and injectors clatter/knock , then after 15 seconds the idle lope goes away, and it idles rough, no power when cold cant barley drive it down the street, once temp gauge goes up above C and warms up truck has power and smooths out, I have no Service engine soon light, truck has 140K miles, I dont have any codes, so can this valve cover harness come off and show no codes or SES light?

  • @TechAutoSport Did you ever get this fixed? My 99 F350 has nearly the exact same issues. It seems if I have the block heater plugged in the truck will run fine. I changed out my HPOP oil and thought that had fully resolved it but the problem came back shortly after changing the oil out.

  • Wonderful tips. I shall hold these in high regard when I downgrade to a Ford lol

  • @Begbucks Then why "downgrade"? Are you being forced? Should I call the police?

  • @DieselTechRon Well is essence yes. You see, Being a Mopar fellow (9-9.8 mpg highway '92 Dodge b350, 5.9 gas 253k) & into the van/bus serial roach mobiles, but now seeking more affordable alternative fuels like (filtered) veggie oil, motor oil or tranny fluid, Dodge sadly lacks a creation in that chassis in a diesel, therefore Ford 7.3 shuttle (about scrap value) is the next viable option, along with the sloth of quirks, leaks & rattles that accompany...

Btw your take on the homemade fuels?

  • I never thought of the candle/crayon. Good tip

  • @virris88 Thank you. I was trying to think what to do if you had no tools and I can't say to touch it. At least not on tape. wow just showed my age now I have to explain what tape was?

  • great video!! Thanks!!! wish I had of watched this before i took the valve cover vent off allowing the gaskets mentioned to expand!

  • Very good info!! I've repaired quite a few 7.3's using the quarter method, and it usually works perfectly!
