I had a run-in with similar thugs. Luckily I had a mate who owned a flatbed truck. We got the car onto the truck, drove it home and removed the clamp at our leisure. I then called up the clampers and let them know there was a fine for leaving their clamp on my car, and that I was holding their clamp until that was paid. Additionally there was a £15 storage fee for each day they didn't pay the fine.
In the end I gave it back after a few days free of charge, but it was a fun exercise.
