As for Final Fantasy USA that game was called that in Japan because Mystic Quest was a game made in the USA lol. Honestly, I don't understand why everyone hates the Super Mario Bros. movie so much, although I can understand they wanted a closer adaptation of the games. It would be boring if it were too close to the games. I saw the movie two years ago and I thought it was pretty cool. To me, they took the basic "save the princess" storyline and took it in a unique direction. Even the Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto was appreciative of the film to a certain degree.

Sorry for adding a lot info in your inbox but I have a new idea. I believe that:
1.) Japanese did knowingly cause they are fucked about it when comes to this
2.) When Super Mario Bros. 2 was first produced, the workers had no idea they probably used the descriptions and easy-translated it.
3.) USA got the news somehow and censored Birdo as female giving it female voice actresses, etc.

Honestly, I don't understand why everyone hates the Super Mario Bros. movie so much, although I can understand they wanted a closer adaptation of the games. It would be boring if it were too close to the games. I saw the movie two years ago and I thought it was pretty cool. To me, they took the basic "save the princess" storyline and took it in a unique direction. Even the Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto was appreciative of the film to a certain degree.
