  • my camera man in 9 years old!

  • good info!

  • youtube.com/watch?v=9c6cye284Fc

  • Thanks for the video. Helpful info. I just purchased a Glock 34 gen3. If you weren't in competition, would you still make the modifications on your Glock?

  • @PrepperBee If I was going to carry the G34, I would make all of the modification except for the trigger. I would stick with the factory parts.

  • gee your tall. a door frame is 6'6"

  • You should be shooting this gun in ESP, since you use the metal guide rod. You say in your video that you use it because you believe it gives you less muzzle flip, which is exactly why they are illegal in SSP. The members, RO's and Match Director of your local IDPA should demand you remove it or move to ESP. Buy yourself a Jager Polymer guide rod, and use the ISMI springs, they are authorized in SSP, and you can use them at sanctioned matches.

  • @MrGlockster35 I do not use the steel guide rod in sanctioned matches. Only occaisonally in local matches. It's questionable as to whether it tames recoil or not, quite frankly. I also shoot my Glock 34 in ESP more than I do in SSP. I personally think it's a stupid rule considering the fact that an M&P has a steel guide rod and that's OK, but not a Glock? It's a stupid rule no matter how you look at it IMHO.

  • @HandgunWorldShow If you use the steel guide rod at all in any match, you MUST (not should) classify yourself as ESP. Using the steel guide rod in SSP is cheating PERIOD. Glocks were never sold with steel guide rods, that is why they are not allowed. If you think it is stupid, move to ESP or get a different gun. Those are your choices. The rules are pretty simple for Production and SSP. There is no proven advantage to using a steel guide rod in a Glock.

  • @MrGlockster35 So if there's no proven advantage in using a steel guide rod as you say, then why is it a problem shooting this in SSP? See what I mean by a stupid rule? If it doesn't give the shooter an advantage and it's banned, then it's a senseless rule. If you'll notice my comments, I shoot ESP most of the time anyway. In sanctioned matches I switch back to the stock guide rod. IDPA is just a game anyway. It's a sport. No sense taking it too seriously.

  • @HandgunWorldShow The reason it is a steadfast rule is because if they allow one simple change (as you see it), then where how can they ever draw a line? I understand the use of a metal rod in a gun for carry, I do in my carry glocks. The rules are there for a reason, to provide a level playing field for everyone. If you read the rule book, they explain all of this in the writing. In sanctioned matches, in ESP, there is no requirement to change the rod to stock. It is a game, so why cheat?

  • @MrGlockster35 I've heard that argument many times and it doesn't hold water. IDPA allows the sights to be changed and the trigger parts to be changed out and grip tape added. None of which come with the Glock in stock configuration. So they established the guidelines and people live by them. Why couldn't they do that with the guide rod? IDPA can simply state what's allowed and what's not. That's where it stops. They could do it, but they won't.

  • @MrGlockster35 I do not use the steel guide rod in sanctioned IDPA matches. I normally shoot ESP with my Glock 34 anyway. It's also very questionable as to whether or not the steel guide rod tames the recoil or not. It's not an issue because I usually shoot ESP. It's a dumb rule though because the M&P has a steel guide rod and that's OK with IDPA but not in a Glock?

  • I realized after I made this video that I realize the steel guide rod is not legal in IDPA SSP division. Stupid rule, but it is the rule. I use it in local matches, but in sanctioned matches I switch back to the stock guide rod;spring assembly.

  • Hi, I just wanted to let you know that the guide rod is not legal for SSP in IDPA . It is legal if your shooting ESP with you guide rod set up. You can use what whatever recoil spring you want in either class. Thanks 3 gun IDPA Master

  • nice vid....no stiff gun belt?

  • @K1ngJames25 Yes, I forgot to talk about the belt. I use Wilderness belts and kydex lined leather belts, very stiff.

  • Excellent video Bob. If someone were to ask me what gun I would recommend they get to shoot in either IDPA or USPSA it would be the Glock 34 without a doubt. It's highly competitive in both SSP and Production division. For the new shooter or seasoned competitor, you can't go wrong with the G34.

  • Safariland .... it's on my list now. Do they make IWB with a combination of Kydex and Leather?

  • @lhusby I don't know, check their website, good question.

  • ill check out those holsters, thanks for the info

  • do you shoot with gssf

  • @glockman0499 Yes, a little bit.
