  • I am getting obsessed with this record, so clever and what a testament to Debroy Somers Band for excellent musicianship, one play is never enough, I find myself humming it at work, in this tempo!

  • There was quite a debate in the 20s and 30s about "jazzing" the classics - some were quite definitely opposed to their priceless symphonies being mucked about with. This one isn't so much jazzed up as cheered up!

  • I love it!!! Thanks :) I can't stand Wagner, but this one is great!

  • besser als thielemann.

  • Wagner could do with a bit of cheering-up, except he might not have had an ironic sense of humour.

  • Wagner turn in his grave, if he hear this :P

    Great!

  • I know!!, but isn't it a GREAT record!!.

  • Yes and I hope he turns.

  • Wonderful! I love Wagner and I love this.

  • A musician of the 1930's told me that Debroy Sommers Band was liked by elderly people.

  • I should probably say yes to that as Somers records cover light classics, music from shows and Military Band selections as well as popular dance music of the time. Something for all tastes and ages.

  • I,of course completely agree with the above!Amazing to think this works so well as a dance band arrangement, suits Somers style very well.

  • The most unusual Tannhäuser version I've ever heard, incredible!

  • I see a few on here rate this fine British band very highly, and i have to say i agree totally!!Very glad such a good 78 is in such safe hands!
