  • Welp, that did the trick. Thanks.

  • 386 MB for my 15 second sample video lol..but great instructions, though..have to try the encode now to see the result

  • its 2012... why am i still coming across files in 4:3 ratio !!!

  • Thumbs up if you are watching in 2012!

  • I'll be trying this tomorrow, thanks. =)

  • btw mine says wen i enter an avi that it cant locate decompressor for format xvid unknown n then says it requires a video for windows (vfw) compatible codec to decompressvideo what do i do about that

  • this is crap, it supports barely any formats!

  • thank you! ><

  • Wow that was wasy, thanks!

  • <3 thank you

  • It doesn't support mkv file then whats the use??

  • WOW!!! This Helps me a lot, Thanks!!!

  • you the best (i actually needed something smaller not bigger :D but it helped and nice music

  • only works on avi files ,if your tryin to crop a mpeg dvd ,forget it ...Virtual dub will just reject it

  • @phantomempire: Try using Virtualdub-MPG2. It'll accept mpeg but convert it to avi

  • Orrr yt:stretch=16:9

  • When I have done this operation, I have got my video size increased from 2 to 75gb :D. Why?!

  • thank you so much!

  • VERY SLOW IF YOU CONVERT 30 MINUTES VIDEO :(

  • what the hell? My videos were shot in widescreen. If I convert them to avi, that goofs them up and puts them in fullscreen. I thought the point of this video was to show how to maintain widescreen in converting...

  • gayest song ever!!!

  • Awesome dude, you're a lifesaver!

  • Thanx it helped!!!!

  • how to you get it to be full screen?

  • Awesome tutorial buddy, simple and effective as few. It does require some technical knowledge to make the encoding to work. I suggest using the "codec friendly" options in the resize menu in order to export correctly to DIVX.

  • I just tried it. Great tutorial! Thank you.

  • uhm...what about the other way around <:/ ? i have a vid thats been distorted into 169 and i need to unstretch it

    plz respond

  • ITS GIVING ME AN ERROR PLZZZ ELP

  • Oh, thanks for this tutorial. The result is GREAT!!!

  • was 15mb, now 36.4gb, lol

  • download a program callled handbrake its a great compressor

  • Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial, Excellent work! keep it up,

  • When I click File > Open video file, it gives me an error message. It says:

MPEG Import Filter: invalid pack at position 3: marker bit not set; possibly MPEG-2 stream.

Any help? What should I do? :-(

  • THANKS!

  • @aubney I already did it with Corel.

  • thanks for the tutorial bitch

  • @cokidvd How to you use the winFF converter, everytime i use it Virtual dub won't let me select the converter vid. I converted it to .avi and tried everything i think

  • Yeah! Converting to 16:9 or to an HD format will make the size of file bigger. It always happen.

  • @rapturedpassage use camtasia studio 7 click zoom n pan then right click on the video then click snap to video edges

  • @rapturedpassage

well i converted a movie to 16:9 and it turned out 89gb .. original was 1,6gb

  • @RECUTMedia Do not convert a 4:3 video into 16:9 aspect ratio. If its only has a 4:3 aspect ratio, then let it be.

  • @rapturedpassage

i had to so i could watch it on my tv :) i just encoded it later so it turned out around 1gb .. x264 codec :))

  • Very nice! Thanks!

  • you made this easy. THANKS!

  • I have to agree with the all users.

Thanks for movie! It realy helped ;)

  • it says i need VFW codec..

even after i converted it with that converter..

  • Not Good , if you use "crop video" you cut out a portions of video... Infact in the encoded video you lose the heads of man! You have to work only with Aspect ratio!

  • Great stuff, thanks for this and you're clear explanation! Btw. it DOES also work with other footage than just AVI, you don't have to convert your footage to AVI first! I did and just saved as AVI, as instructed in the software and it works fine! Yes, the files are larger then, but I don't mind! I have 16:9 ratio footage now without loss of quality or strange deformities! Hooray for you and VirtualDub!

  • is there a way not to loose fps on the video (Frames per seconds)

would love to get an answer

  • I did this and the result was great. The only problem is the end video was 2GB big. I'm a computer noob but I know that 2GB is TOO big for a 3 minute video. What did I do wrong?

  • @prandabear

As I mention on the video description, you've to compress the video with xvid codec or another one you like.

  • Does it trim the video?

  • Thanks man.

  • cool cool :D hey what is the song called i really liked it alot

  • Thanks for this tutorial, it was very useful. I've used the letterbox option, instead of crop.

  • @cokidvd lol, show off

  • Hey is there anyway of making the video HD like 1080p?

  • @RubiksCuber1000

To make it 1080p, it should be 16:10, right?

  • @ASHOGACarlosPaz

    Not always.

It has to be 1080p to be 16:9 Ratio

  • GRACIASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS !!! TE PASASTE, ESTUVE ANOCHE BUSCANDO LA FORMA COMO HACER Y JUSTO ME ENCONTRE CON ESTE VIDEO HOI !!!!!!!! Y LO HICE Y ME SALIO PERFECTO !!! MUCHAS GRACIAS !!! TE VOI A Poner puntos si !!! te amo yo tb =)

  • :[] you still have Tiny bars lol

  • wow !

the size does matter.. any suggestion to reduce the size ?

  • @azachan91

Encode it using xvid, the link is on the video description

  • This tutorial seems to be interesting... even though, I haven't downloaded the program. yet... I just want to be sure of something... can I crop a .vob file, which originally has 16:9 dimentions but in the 4:3 frame, and export it as a .vob file again??? I just don't want it to lose the high quality that a .vob file has... thanks.

  • @Amethyst96

Yes, it's possible, same procedure, but enter 4:3 instead of 16:9 on framing options->crop to aspect ratio

    thanks for watching

  • Really thanks

  • woww i love you!! i have been this issue for a while now, its making me crazy. thanks for the video!

  • everytime i do this i still get the black bars on the side. can anyone help?

  • thanks alot for this! really helped me out :)

  • u rock

  • I absolutely LOVE YOU !

  • thanks!!!!!

  • vlws !

  • .avi fuck that the video size will be massive and take 4ever to upload. u need mp4

  • @1acidboy or mov

  • I can't thank you enough for uploading this.....now I finally have a way of doing this, thanks SO much!!!

  • Thank you for watching!

  • After converting a few videos, I realized that this program is CROPPING the top and bottom of the 4:3 video, that's how it's doing it - it's not stretching the video, which is the effect I really wanted.

  • Ayye Thanks Foreal

  • Thanks! My videos really suffered with the bars.

  • thanks alot man 5 stars

  • thank you. You are the best, it took me weeks to find a way to do it. The soft is good and your advice as well. First i used Sony vegas 8.0 but it was not very effective.

  • @bravohexavac

    Thanks!

  • thanks mate

  • Will this distort the video quality? Also, I use a regular handy cam for my recordings, in the description it says that this only works with AVI video, would my camera's video qualify as AVI?

  • Ok I'm confused, I followed the video but my output file is gonna be 182GB from a 700MB avi. Where did I go wrong?

  • That's because you have to compress the video using xvid or the codec of your choice

  • Will this affect the working of the DVD menu? Caus at the minute it's working fine

  • I don't know, I haven't tried this with a dvd

  • y is the ending file size so big lol?

  • That's because you have to compress the output video using xvid or another codec

  • Haha yeah I realised that just after I commented.Thanks.

  • Thank you

  • Thanks for watching

  • Cheers Man for the info! have a Merry Christmas!

  • thanks for watching

  • thank's you so much!

  • thank you for watching

    Thank you so much

    5* and i subscribe

  • Thank you for watching!

  • Hey...i finished your step..but it save 3gb for my 80mb of movie ! any idea what happen?

  • Yes, you have to go to the video menu and select Compression, then you have to select xvid codec, then configure the codec to the maximum quality.

    That's it.

  • The bad thing i dont have the Xvid Codec! how?

  • That's because you have to install it first!

Download it from the link that I've added on the video description

  • Ty man.. hey mind subscribe me?

  • you could have put this info in the video....

  • Yes, you're right, but I forgot to do that when I was editing the video

  • why are the edges cut off like on the bottom for mine, it really sucks cuss i record fps's :(

  • thanks mate, great vid, it saved me lol

  • the song is by lilly allen right?

  • Yes, it's The Fear by Lilly Allen

  • Thanks Man! It Works Great.....

  • THANKS!!!!!!!!

  • very thanks!!

  • god job cokidvd....but i should tell you that wmv doesn't works too

    bye

  • You can use WinFF to convert your video to avi first, and then you can use this method!

Use the link i posted on the video description to download WinFF.

  • Hey, MP4 doesn't works :-(

  • No, use only AVI files

  • yeah i used the xvid codec and it made an avi file with audio but no video? oh well i guess i'll keep looking :0)

  • nice tutorial i can now fix my videos cuz i hate it when they get pillarboxed or letterboxed

    chek out my callofduty videos

  • tymv m8 iv subed

  • Or you could resize it to 853.3 (If its a widescreen DVD movie that has been ripped to a 4:3 frame and therefore squished inwards) to get back the proper aspect ratio

  • thanks men

  • there are a bunch of links on the site. which is the right one? please reply

  • oh my god this is so easy! i think im gonna give it a try w/ my next vid

  • Easy Like eating peanut.

  • thanks!!! very helpfull tutorial!

    5/5 :D

  • this was helpful, but it took away my audio!

  • This method just squashes the video. I would think cropping would be better to prevent the distortion.

  • It actually does crop the video not just squish it.

  • Thanks alot!

This guide was very helpfull :D

    5/5

  • Thank you for watching!
