I I've taken all of the drugs mentioned. One thing about phenobarbital is that the baby can be born addicted to it. Phenytoin causes webbed finger sand toes quite often. I was told that my son was going to have webbed fingers and toes and a cleft pallet. They didn't tell me that until I was 5 months pregnant because they wanted me to not get upset. I was angry and quit the meds.. My son was fine when he was born
Valproic should be avoided, incidence of embroypathy during 1st trimester:
phenytoin 21%, phenobarbital 27%, CARBAMAZEPINE 14%, IT MAKES SENSE IF CABAMAZEPINE IS DOC. The key is mono therapy and regularly monitor of blood drug levels.

carbamazipine is contraindication for pregnant woman because it is teratogenic so we give them phenobarbital as drug of choice in pregnancy.
