Last time I checked, Vettes and the like are ROAD CARS, not full out race cars. And, since ya wanna talk about american cars...the ZR-1 vette in STOCK FORM with STOCK TIRES posted a time of 7:26 around the nurburgring...faster than a ferrari 430 scuderia by well over a second...faster than anything porshe brought...whatcha gotta say about that ???

Road cars yes, but the engines in the corvette are hand built and are capable of being driven on the track. So in a sense it is a road and race car.
