  • lol Torley, i bought the SpaceNavigator, dang! i think its like my Third hand while i'm building

  • lol its the force!

  • this will help with those fashion shoots!

  • excellent - glad to hear it :)

  • When will it be working with the Macintosh client?

  • i'm using it now with a macbook pro. :)

  • Really?? Can you explain how you set it up? I am using the "Windlight" beta client.. latest version, which has the controls Torley talks about, but the control panel shows no activity when I move the Navigator. The thing works in GoogleEarth, so I know it is working... Am I missing some piece of set up???? Any help would be appreciated!! Memetic Projects @ SL.

  • i'm using the current rc client (suffering the new ui - ugh!) and the joystick controls are there.

  • Yeah, I see the controls there plain as day, but getting them to actually respond to my SpaceNavigator is another matter. And I agree on the craptacular "candy-like" interface... makes my head hurt... but it would hurt less if I could be soaring with the boids with SpaceNavigator working... but noooooooo. No love. :( I'll bang on it more later I s'pose. Thanks. :)

  • I just uninstalled and reinstalled the RC client, checked to make sure I had the latest drivers installed, and still... no luck. The Joystick Monitor does not register any activity. Yet, I can load up GoogleEarth and it works just fine. Is this supposed to work with both the PE and the SE versions of the SpaceNavigator? I have the Personal Edition. Anyone have a clue?

  • Well, I think I figured out the problem. I did the install on a laptop here at work and it was fine. The difference: my home mac is running 10.4.x while the laptop is running 10.5.x... could it be that the is requiring 10.5??? That is so stupid. :(

  • i'm on 10.4.11 so i don't think it's that - how bizarre!

  • I found the solution!!!! When I first got the SN a few months ago, the only Macintosh solution was to use this program called ControllerMate to hack integration with SL, and it did a crappy job, so I never used it and eventually just uninstalled it. Well, it left bits resident in the system that even after unistalling the program itself, managed to screw with the process of getting it to work with the new SL integration. I went deep and ripped all that shit out, now its working! YAY! -marqueA2

  • I'd rather use the mouse.

  • this seems preety cool, VR is slowly coming to SL!

  • This looks like quite a good idea, although I might guess that it takes a little time to adjust to.

  • the spacenavigator flycam is the best thing in the world for building. However what I gain in productivity is probably lost by lengthy sessions of spacing out and flying my camera all over the landscape (whee). Torley's pretty awkward with it in the video, but after a day or two of usage it becomes second nature. I can never go back to alt-mouseclick camera control.
