There'd be suspense when all the lights went out between songs #What songs next ?# . Then in comes Richie like that...!! Younger folk, anyone who tells you that the current gigs are anything like these either weren't there, have poor memories or are doey eyed in love with Jon no matter what he does. Look at the energy here, no one stood around like their feet are stuck to the stage, thumping riffs, a crowd that qued all day to egt to the front-not rich people who paid £250..
I saw this a second time, laurapz, and can see that he clearly could push vocals, at this point, to the early 80's days if he wanted too with very little effort. ...But this is a spectacular example of his transition from the 80's to the MID 90's, vocally.
Hey man, I just realized something - the chorus is done with slightly lower notes, I didn't even notice it until now. Listen to live performances from the 80s and compare to this one, the chorus is different.
It's nice to hear from you again. I agree with you, but this one is quite iffy. I've been listening to this, the original recording, and The Philly Shown from '89. It ranges, as far as the lower notes, and there were, a lot of what I call, "short cuts", as Bono , JBJ, and Nickelback has to use to end their lyrical lines short as to not strain their vocal chords. I'm Really iffy on what you state here, but really respect and understand your pro response. Interesting. I Wont argue though
