It's an Origin story. It takes place BEFORE every single Devil May Cry game. It's within the same universe. By the end of this game, or the end of this new series, we'll see the Dante we know and love.

I'm a major DMC fan and at first hated the idea. But honestly after thinking about this, the change isn't so bad. This could be Dante as he was when he thought his name was Tony Redgrave. Could be Dante's son, or Nero and Kyrie's and they name him after Dante in gratitude. But I digress. The point is the game isn't even out yet. Judge it after you play it, this could become the best DMC game ever. Even better than 3

@LeoNeo07 Also. I don't think it takes part in Britain at all. The English flag on his coat may be due to Ninja Theory's company based in England. The place Dante is in, is probably it's own different place. Also, I kind of have a feeling that there's some inspiration and concept of Dante's Aleghieri's The Inferno for the game. Maybe Limbo City is where we'll start out and as the story build we get closer to the deep end of the levels of hell? Who knows.

I've never played any of the previous DMC games but when I saw this trailer of the new Dante I was highly intrigued. I don't know how the old Dante was like but to me this younger version of Dante seems more badass. He gives this sort of nonchalant, Devil May Care feeling when you watch him. Comparing clothing style and hair, young Dante is stylish but his style is simplified whilst his older counterpart looked like a Fashionisto with the penchant for the dramatic. Personally, this is just a DMC version in which it features a punk kid in another part of the WORLD, not universe, who shows aptitude to be an agent that dispenses with evil like the original Dante did. So, it is plausible that at some point, all these Dantes will meet and intertwine somehow. At least that's what I think.

Okay, apart from some of the signature moves and the name this has nothing to do with the DMC universe. They tried a half-a**ed reboot last time which backfired miserably cause they gave us a whiney kid, now they make a completely new game with a smoking punk, give him a name we all know and hope that the fans accept it as DMC 5. Cap should have just had the cochones to bury DMC and start a new series, cause that is what it is. This is a bargain buy at max for me.

The place Dante is in, is probably it's own different place. Also, I kind of have a feeling that there's some inspiration and concept of Dante's Aleghieri's The Inferno for the game. Maybe Limbo City is where we'll start out and as the story build we get closer to the deep end of the levels of hell? Who knows.

I've never played any of the previous DMC games but when I saw this trailer of the new Dante I was highly intrigued. I don't know how the old Dante was like but to me this younger version of Dante seems more badass. He gives this sort of nonchalant, Devil May Care feeling when you watch him. Comparing clothing style and hair, young Dante is stylish but his style is simplified whilst his older counterpart looked like a Fashionisto with the penchant for the dramatic. Personally, this is just a DMC version in which it features a punk kid in another part of the WORLD, not universe, who shows aptitude to be an agent that dispenses with evil like the original Dante did. So, it is plausible that at some point, all these Dantes will meet and intertwine somehow. At least that's what I think.

Okay, apart from some of the signature moves and the name this has nothing to do with the DMC universe. They tried a half-a**ed reboot last time which backfired miserably cause they gave us a whiney kid, now they make a completely new game with a smoking punk, give him a name we all know and hope that the fans accept it as DMC 5. Cap should have just had the cochones to bury DMC and start a new series, cause that is what it is. This is a bargain buy at max for me.

Its pretty lame that the game actually looks promising, yet they made Dante look like the biggest douche of all time. I really like the darker tone they seem to be going with and everything. But Dante just looks like a total fag. Im not against them changing his character at all, as long as its for the better. But instead he just looks gay as hell. This game is going to tell us EVERYTHING we need to know about his past and even some more about His mothers death and what happened to Virgil after they were split. Dante thought for years that Virgil was dead along with his mother. The first DMC book gives you a lot of back history, This game will fill in the players who didn't read the books. In Dmc3 he fixes his hair because he likes it that way, he doesn't hate Dante lol

The issue I have is that if they reboot and change everything radically, then they should have the balls to ditch the name too. This isn't Dante, no matter how much they want us to believe it. Secondly, this Dante is the same Dante from the same mythos. If you look at his past (mother being brutally murdered, Vergil missing-at the time also presumed dead) he has a shit amount of reason to be pissed off. Also, his hair is prolly dyed as his roots are white. Same Dante.

Ok... my thoughts. Dante Didn't need Changing but sadly enough it happened. Theres no going back. Since this is a whole new World and stuff. He is now British, looks emo as hell but has tons of battle scars. hell beaten out of him. good look. shows i have little to live for. If he is still the son of Sparta Great! If they just changed his look and minor story parts i think its ok. Him being a psychopath though does sound cool. I think this may not be as bad as people think. Game wise.
