  • Are these being sold in the USA? I think I'd like to have one, but bigger than this in the video.

  • oh.. dragon ball

  • @toyokouhei Haha Exactly what came to mind

  • Capsule corp. in real life.

  • is there a full version of this in english somewhere? i've only been able to find the full version in japanese.

  • @LordEnigmus

    i-domehouse. com

  • holy shit. dbz. lol

  • what happens when there's a flood, hurricane? bye bye styrofoam.. what about a fireplace, or stove, bathroom?...

  • @csabafat Holy shit. It's a 23 second video. When there is a flood or hurricane, judging by whatever variant of polyvinyl coating they sprayed onto the concrete which was applied to the stryofoam framework I'm guessing the domehome would remain while all other convential wooden frame houses would be gone with the with the wind, or water.

As for the fireplace, stove, and bathroom I'm going to take a wild guess and say those are on the inside of the home? This is just the shell. Understand?

  • @csabafat .i-domehouse. com

  • this house called named iglo

  • This Is Only Good For 'Super Kawaii' FanHeads And The Homeless (I Would Donate These If They Were All Under $5,000).

  • No waste wow, a 100% efficient process from beginning to end, is there anything those Japanese can't do ?

  • styrofoam dome home in Rome with a chrome gnome outside on the loam, Jerome!

  • It takes a bit more than just "no waste" for it to be good for the environment.

  • @markhinr styrofoam = not environmentally friendly

  • @TheOneAndOnlyMichel It is when it's reprocessed polystyrene.

  • I have calculated it should be possible to make a regular house (no dome) with about 130 cubic meters of styrofoam. At a a density of 30 Kg/m, it would barely weight about 4 tonnes. Styrofoam costs 1200 dollars per tonne, raising the cost of the house to about 5000 dollars, not including plumbing, electricity or gas lines. It should be possible to assemble it in a day.

  • @Favel22 We don't need no square home.

  • make them shaped like titties, im a nature lover.

  • A good wind would make it a UFO....

  • DBZ anyone?

  • Way to go on helping to save the earth; keep up the good work!

  • @MrShamonyu How exactly does this save the earth??

Saving the earth is a feel good meaningless psychotic fantasy.

Save the earth from what? I agree that we should not destroy the natural beauty of the earth or polute it, that is only common sense.

  • @PORTUGAL1010 It's true, we can't "save the earth" nor destroy the earth, but since we live on it, we should keep it clean out of our own self interest.

  • @MrShamonyu oh good now the earth has been saved what next

  • @datzfast teaching whales the subtle art of the hackey sack, obviously!

  • the price is 30 000 S !!!! what a fuckin rip offf!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wouldn't buy it for over 200 eur

  • Comment removed

  • tell me iour price for iour house...plizzzzzz..jabaspost"yahoo.de

  • GO TO HELL AUTOPLAY

  • Yeah and how did they anchor it down so that a firm breeze dosen't blow your home away? This may work as temp. home in cases like Katrina but really wouldn't it make a hell of a racket in the rain?

  • It would be perfect for my dog!

  • DRAGON BALL Z HOUSES xD

  • oh i feel like living in one i think its less money

  • Not very safe for the hurricanes and tornadoes. Sure it can withstand the wind, but not a 2x4 or tree blown into it like a spear.

  • @dontlikenumbers thats a good point, but it could be a fantastic solution for homeless survivors of such disasters.

  • Absolutely @jacoby308, but what would be awesome is to build in the dome shape, use re-bar and cement and you would avoid homeless survivors because the home stands up to it. Even earthquakes. It is also easier to heat and cool a dome.

  • @dontlikenumbers exactly what kind of house can withstand that? lol

  • weres the shiter?

  • @Omega3chimp In the center of the house, you can shit and worke from the same chair :D

  • Dang! Now, I can live like a 5'11" Hobbit!

  • Dumbass, it more more nature oriented because it is Styrofoam! The only good use for Styrofoam is insulation.

  • Okay, you're argument just runs in a circle with mine. Polystyrene is made from styrene which has been linked to NUMEROUS adverse health affects. Production of polystyrene pollutes the air and creates large amounts of waste. It's like any other plastic and made of petroleum. Obviously not sustainable. Our landfills are being filled with Polystyrene (and any other plastic for that matter) and for those reasons, many places have banned polystyrene (thailand, portland, orange county, etc)

  • Oh, and by the way, name calling gets you no where...just like your "rebuttal".

  • Better for the environment?! It's STYROFOAM! It's ideas like this that give me little hope for a sustainable, more nature-oriented future.

  • Looks like Tele Tubbies just got ripped off by the japanese.

  • heheheheh great comment

  • @Michael7477 REALLY?

  • how much do they cost if u teid to get one in new mexico

  • Except that air currents wrap around the buildings due to their aerodynamic properties. They'll probably outlast a typical home in a hurricane.

  • this wouldnt get blown away. its designed to withstand typhoons and its streamlined to basically let wind blow over and around it, and also to withstand earthquakes

  • I wan't to live in a house like that. I do not need anything else. That is simple and friendly for the environment..

  • For some reason I have an itch to punch a hole in it.

  • ahhahahahaha

  • hahaha

  • hahaha i want one! they are so cool...mmmm igloos

  • They should build these 4 the 3rd world countries.

  • This sort of reminds me of the Capsule Corp. Houses from Dragonball, like the one from the 2nd Episode.

  • surrounded by cancer and styrene, mmmm... fail... Might as well get a tipi, yurt, or cabin

  • I'd throw gas on the iglo's and watch them melt or do what he said!

I see Dodd and Polohsi sit in there tripping out on the hot burning plastic drip noise's....LOL... BURN IN HELL POLITICIAN'S!!!!!

  • COOL!

    nOt a first though!

I would like to put the US politcians in a Japanese made Styrofoam one room Iglo on the national lawn with 2 solar panels and 2 batteries so the whole nation can see how happy they will be "Living Green"!!

  • Do what I tell you not what I do :)

  • i want one

  • whats the largest you can blow these sections? just wondering as you can build a sound 40' dome from regular 4 x 2, covered with 1/2" ply and fibreglass for about 25k.

  • doesnt styrofoam emit carcinogenic fumes over time ?

    many plastics do

  • And it burns quite nicely too

  • Yes I heard these cost 25k A ecodome shell would be under 5k you could straw bale the exterior to provide great insulation even make the exterior shape differnt. Shape to place solar collector, solar oven have deeper windows, make it look like a castle bio mass bales could be made of almost any dried material. Sure this is a good idea but so is keeping 20k for other uses.

  • I really want one of these. In fact, I would love to put several on a piece of land and start a little community. Too bad they aren't in the US yet. :( Monolithic domes are cool too, but I love how simple these are and the shapes are so beautiful and versatile.

  • Cool. I would love to have one.

  • I want one! <3

  • I would love a dome home. Ponder this... Arrange a circle of small dome home 'rooms'for your abode, leaving just enough space to invert one in the middle of the rest, as a SWIMMING POOL! Additional supports would probably be needed. Windows could be installed where the pool meets the supporting rooms. I imagine steps circling the interior of the pool to provide a comfortable shallow area. The pump could be hidden in the spaces between the domes. Stack one on top for indoor pool!

  • North American domes may be slightly different but I believe the Japanese models could be modified to meet our "archaic + Prehistoric " building codes... Leave it up to the Industrious Japanese to come up with affordable, low cost housing... years ahead of us in North America.... With climate changes and the housing markets becoming "unattainable for most, ... "it's time we took off our blinders and started to keep our narrow minds in sync with our technology" ... thanks for posting this...

  • This is an amazing idea. The energy efficiences of foam, tight air infiltration, noise reductant, great against seismic activity, moveability, light weight shipping, easy installation, little upkeep, does not get moldy or eaten by insects, and designability/customability make this by far the most intelligent building design I have heard of. Wow Japanese are smart.

  • Curious to read more about these, I found in a search (Aso Farm Pink Tentacle)that there is a place in Kyushu, Japan, that has 480 of these structures! It is the Aso Farm Land Resort and they use them for lodging, shops and resort facilities. Also, the floor space in the basic unit is 475 sq. ft.

  • I checked out their website (google Japan Dome House or International Dome House), and these look to be cleverly designed. I like them. If Japan brought us a reliable, reasonably priced car in the Toyota, perhaps they can also make a good house.

Note to company. When you get around to taking videos of model interiors, please film the beautiful dome shape of the interior ceiling. I find that a lot of companies fail to do this, and the ceiling is the most beautiful part of a dome.

  • i saw another example of this, but it starts out with an inflatable dome, over which they place a geodesic steel cage, then pour on the concrete. Then they deflate the mold and do the inside.

It could be used in the future, as a form of low-income housing (better than trailer parks). In a state like Florida, these might be a good idea as they're said to be hurricane resistant. You'd still have to put in the plumbing.

  • Monolithic domes (such as the ones made in Italy, Texas) are great, but this modular system has some distinct advantages. Good insulation integrated in the panels, for example. I like the design of the window and door openings too.

  • its only 41,000! dollors

  • it looks like the teletubbies house

  • haha awesome!!

  • watch?v=1UEOZGFzPas

  • Yes Sub 4 sub !

    Yes Sub 4 sub !

    Yes Sub 4 sub !

    Yes Sub 4 sub !

  • for crist sake, someone tell me where they are made

  • japan

  • Does anyone know the cost of these things? They are so cute. I think they would be great for Africa.

  • @oliveberri about $41,000 .U.S. each

  • looks like those houses in dragonball

  • lol

  • I was thinking the same thing!

  • Looks more like the little houses on Tatooine.

  • toilet? kitchen? plumbing? electricity? gas?

  • @mtolives All inside around a central island

  • @mtolives all wireless.. lol

  • @mtolives oh!, burgoise commodities!, :p

  • @mtolives batteries sold separately. ಠ_ಠ

  • I MUST live in one of these. But I live in Florida and even the slightest winds would demolish this thing. If a trailer can't handle it, a Styrofoam house def. wont.

  • actually it can handle typhoons, so most likely it can handle hurricanes. They're the same thing, just differant classification based on location. Also heard these withstand earthquakes and fires hahaha weird huh?

  • Because theres no corners for the wind to catch onto domes are not affected in high winds.

  • A styrofoam dome house covered with an inch or two of concrete would be be able to handle a storm better than any conventionally shaped house. The wind just slides off the round surface of a dome.

  • Kool cool very koll & cool :)
