Het is een prachtig station-alleen valt het me op dat we in Nederland nog steeds niet aan veiligheidsmaatregelen doen.

Ken jij die veiligheidsdeuren die bijvoorbeeld in bepaalde stations in Londen en Kopenhagen worden toegepast ?

Ik vind dat het overantwoordelijk is dat er op drukke stations geen "Platform screen doors" (zoals in het Engels heten) zijn.

Leuk als al je materieel hetzelfde is, wat het niet is in Rotterdam (ruimte tussen deuren, verschillen tussen 5301-5342 en 5343 en hoger, 5500/toekomstige 5600-serie heeft weer afwijkende deurposities)...

Dat is dus een probleem. Verschillen in materieel zijn overigens ook nog eens duurder qua onderhoud.

Valt wel mee: het nieuwe materieel is modulair opgebouwd, sommige onderdelen zijn exact hetzelfde... Overigens, de 22 RandstadRail-metro's 5501 tm 5522 zijn klaar, de eerste 2 moeten alleen nog geleverd worden. De volgende serie (5601 tm 5642 of 5643) is in aanbouw en zal qua techniek hetzelfde zijn als de RandstadRailmetro's, alleen krijgen ze een ander kleurtje.

The station looks like something you'd see in a science-fiction movie. If someone ever wanted to do a low-budget "Star Wars" type movie, filming a few scenes at the station (probably minus the trains, though, LOL) would probably give the flick a sufficient space-station appearance.

Ik vind hem vet!!! Heb een paar jaar in Rotterdam gewoont en ben dagelijks langs dit station gekomen. Verrekt mooi station. And yes, last summer I was in Berlin and the S-Bahn has the same closing signa as the metro in Rotterdam! ;)
