A comment I posted on Linda McMahon's Youtube Channel.
"Just like Dodd and Blumentha, Linda McMahon will be another vote for Obama's tax payer bailouts". I'm a Peter Schiff supporter, and I approve this comment.
Im from the UK and Im not on the side of left-wing/right-wing politics since its become painfully clear that the only differences are based on who put money into them and what they want in return for that money. But surely LIndas campaign will last only until this schiff guy starts pulling out all the dead wrestlers from her closet. Even if you dont believe its the WWE's fault just the association is enough in this day and age of mudslinging to ruin her chances
What this ad dose not mention is that linda was standing up for herself when she kicked that dude in the sac. And who is peter schiff? serously, primarys are in a week and first time i ever heard her name, or is he a dude? i cant tell.

I think this will do some serious damage to Linda for sure, but if the problem is people simply don't know Peter, than how is this going to do the trick? You only saw him for a split second at the end. Isn't there one other guy who's on the primary?
Normally you lead with introductory ads before going negative but if this can work in the final week it will have to simultaneously pound McMahon and raise curiosity about who Peter is. Then, with the voter base burning with curiosity about him and eager to knock McMahon out of the nomination, an introductory ad in the final days might work. It would be an upset for the record books if it works.
This ad is effective in addressing those with a short attention span who haven't followed the race very closely. That is, the vast majority of the public. It could gain votes from those who are moved by the liberal angle and from those who might want a more dignified stance in their Senator than found in Mrs. McMahon's history. Unfortunately, U.S. politics are not on a higher level - if they were Peter Schiff wouldn't have to do any commercials and would easily be elected over Linda McMahon.
All the people whining about "Omg it's an attack ad! Omg Peter is playing their Washington game!" are utterly clueless. Get over it. This is called running a campaign, what the hell do you expect? Go after her, Peter. If anything, the ad is too tame.
Peter Schiff is playing it at their game. While the ad is not all that great. It is meant to sway the voters who are looking for an alternative candidate. The average TV viewer aren't like the rest of us who can use the internet and read. Some people are too lazy to read. And therefor, need a flashy attack ad. After all, that is why most of the viewers watch TV. Mostly for drama, action, and comedy.
Thank you Linda! You and your Irish prick of a husband are destroying WWE. I hope you get your ass kicked in the election. Maybe then WWE can stop being all about these snot nosed little bratty children!
I'm glad I don't watch TV, I like Peter but I hate this ad. Peter is supposed to be a breath of fresh air like Ron Paul, this ad does not reflect that, it's the same-old same-old BS..... Oh well. America is doomed.

Linda McMahon is not a free market capitalist like Peter Schiff. Many of her supporters just don't know any better. Linda has said many times that the bailouts were necessary. If you believe certain corporations are too big to fail then Linda McMahon is the candidate for you.

In your ads, let us know more about your positions, and how you've been relating them over time. Also, let the public know that they can find you extensively on the net!

Also, it's not really a 'negative' ad in the sense that it's untrue. It gets even worse for Linda when you look more into it. The most harmful thing in the ad for Linda is Peter's name at the end.
He said that he was going to tear her down then build himself up. He's going to let the facts speak for themselves. Our federal government has been overtaken by actors playing the part that the globalists script out behind closed doors. Obama deserves the Academy Award for his role in The destruction of America. Perhaps this kind of campaign is necessary, but I think it is unfortunate. It would be better if politics centered around promoting your ideas, instead of showing how bad your opponents are.

1) States your current job and how you plan to utilize your comprehension of economics to help America.
2) Let people know how they can learn more about your, like your books and your video blog here on You Tube.
3) Realize that you don't have to point out your opponents weaknesses - you simply need to show your strengths. From that point on, the people will choose the best person for the job, if you help them get to know you. :-)

@AlexanderHarcourt Perhaps you are right about the attention span of the average voter not being that long to be able to listen to Peter's stance on the issues and that they would vote for him because he spends his campaign contributions trying to discredit his opponent. But I respectfully disagree. I think the best way to win a race is to be first by beating your opponent with your skills, not by slinging mud. I've won dirt bike races by being better, not by spraying my competitors with mud!
Peter, this ad does a GREAT job dissuading people from voting for Linda but this isn't helping your cause. This media buy needs to focus on what a great job YOU can do - not what a horrible job Linda can/will. You aren't branded well enough to be running an attack ad with a small snippet of you at the end endorsing the message. Your teams needs to rethink their strategy.

i love this ad but it does not say what peter schiff stands for. the average voter wants to hear the peter schiff message.
i think it would be a good idea to simply put together a collection of peter schiff speeches from youtube and put them onto a dvd. make millions of copies of the dvd and give it to every home. each dvd costs a few cents to make.
a person can watch the dvd on their tv at home. make a good cover for the dvd so it looks like a movie.
i was gonna suggest JUST that to the schiff's, cause on top of the u-tube videos one could make a very nice INTRO which would REALLY DRAW the viewer into watching MORE + additional info and contrast on opponents (like this current add) but the schiff''s egos got in the way and they refused to listen LoL probably havent even read all the comments on the past v-logs LoL
@hyylo This is his only 'negative' ad, and its not really 'negative' (as in unfair) because it is true. SHE WAS FOR THE BAILOUT. Also, voters wont be turned off by it because most of them don't know who Schiff is. People will want to find out more about him and they'll see he is not just another dirty politician. Also, it helps with media. McMahon wont do a counter-ad, but stories have alread been written on it. It also emphasizes McMahon's problems with winning the general election--SHE CAN'T
@hyylo - It costs more than a few cents per DVD to make a million, plus no replication facility would be able to turn out more than 50,000 or much less half a million DVDs before August 10, plus Schiff couldn't get them all mailed out that fast. It might have been a good idea a few months ago. But all his videos are available online and DVD would be too passive an approach and I think a lot of people would never look at it.

1) a single dvd = less than 1 cent in bulk
2) you dont even need a replicator company, Only 1 copy needed, have ISO copy on the website for d-load then the schiff's volenteers could simply make copies for themselves (many should have DVD writers) and deliver them to conneticut voters's homes (like flyers)
3) almost EVERY HOME has a DVD player TODAY, people will have the convinience to watch it WHENEVER they want
@dudebud007 - not really... I mean, maybe outside the use you can buy blank discs for less than a cent in bulk, but the replication and creating a glass master and printing labels on the disc is where the real cost comes in.
And very few Schiff volunteers are going to be willing to make ANY DVD copies at home with their own time and expense. He's having a hard enough time getting people to make free phone calls, much less burning out thousands of discs and handing them out.

and do realize how long it takes to burn out a DVD that's only even half-full? If a volunteer tried to burn out even a 100 in a day using Toast or Nero it would take them all day long using one burner.
@dudebud007 - Right, 5 min. with one burner is about 12 discs an hour - so assuming they sat there all day (like 8 hours - a whole work day) that's about 100 discs - assuming they don't stop to eat or do anything else.
Look, my all I'm saying is - yes, a few months ago I think it would've worked and helped out. And, if someone living in CT want to make as many as they can (a million not being possible) and give 'em to potential voters, then that's cool.

@hyylo The reason why we have an income tax is that we the people have to back the interest on the debt created. Money is debt. We pay income tax to pay for the interest on the debt. Do away with the Federal Reserve and have interest free money, there will no longer be a need for the income tax. Precious metals will have to inventually play their role in the monetary system, but at least interst free money would be a great start. Kennedy tried this.
@hyylo - That's 3 of 450 people in this legislature that would support 0 income tax. I also ask what would replace income tax? Protectionist tariffs that severely damage trade on both ends? Consumption (Value Added) tax? When you tax consumption, you get less consumption, from MP3 players to autos to new homes.
We need ZERO tax on income. America became rich because people could keep their income. Now America has huge dept and high taxes becuase of stupid governement.
@hyylo - do your research, America's explosion of wealth came AFTER the introduction of the Income tax, and after tariffs stopped being the primary tax of the United States. Income tax was started circa 1905, at the rate of 1%. It was around 1910 that income tax became the primary tax revenue source of the US. Look at the GDP then versus the peak in 2008, adj for inflation, and you'll see the GDP is much greater than before the income tax.
@Slipknotyk06 Mm, true, though you are leaving out that without income tax people would have more money to spend on consumption and according to the arguement it better than balances out. A consumption tax only affects you as you spend so you'd still buy what you would normally and keep the rest, while income tax you lose money whether you buy anything or not. But yeah, good luck finding anyone invested in the system to agree to getting rid of the income tax because it would mean less spending.
@MaurDL - Much of this hinges upon the rate. If the Consumption tax was perhaps 10%, I think you may be right. However, if it's 25-30%, it would be a tax that is punitive in nature for taking part in the economy. I don't trust tax rates to remain low, no matter who is in power. A consumption tax of 30% would be disastrous for the economy, and I do foresee tax rates going that high albeit very slowly.

However, here's what I see: a flood of government entitlement spending, an additional entitlement, and reform that in effect nationalizes entities of the Government's choosing. People wean from heroine easier than entitlements, and Greece is my proof. The left is going to argue that taxes must go up to pay for the programs, and they're arguing consumption tax in addition to income tax, which would shift tax burden to nearly 70% and demolish the economy.

Good ad. I think it's one flaw is the lack of Schiff name mention. Even a little caption in the corner that says "Schiff for Senate" during the McMahon bashing would have helped a bit

Also, it's not really a 'negative' ad in the sense that it's untrue. It gets even worse for Linda when you look more into it. The most harmful thing in the ad for Linda is Peter's name at the end.

1) States your current job and how you plan to utilize your comprehension of economics to help America.
2) Let people know how they can learn more about your, like your books and your video blog here on You Tube.
3) Realize that you don't have to point out your opponents weaknesses - you simply need to show your strengths. From that point on, the people will choose the best person for the job, if you help them get to know you. :-)

Peter, this ad does a GREAT job dissuading people from voting for Linda but this isn't helping your cause. This media buy needs to focus on what a great job YOU can do - not what a horrible job Linda can/will. You aren't branded well enough to be running an attack ad with a small snippet of you at the end endorsing the message. Your teams needs to rethink their strategy.

i think it would be a good idea to simply put together a collection of peter schiff speeches from youtube and put them onto a dvd. make millions of copies of the dvd and give it to every home. each dvd costs a few cents to make.
a person can watch the dvd on their tv at home. make a good cover for the dvd so it looks like a movie.

Also, voters wont be turned off by it because most of them don't know who Schiff is. People will want to find out more about him and they'll see he is not just another dirty politician. Also, it helps with media. McMahon wont do a counter-ad, but stories have alread been written on it. It also emphasizes McMahon's problems with winning the general election--SHE CAN'T

@hyylo - It costs more than a few cents per DVD to make a million, plus no replication facility would be able to turn out more than 50,000 or much less half a million DVDs before August 10, plus Schiff couldn't get them all mailed out that fast. It might have been a good idea a few months ago. But all his videos are available online and DVD would be too passive an approach and I think a lot of people would never look at it.

1) a single dvd = less than 1 cent in bulk
2) you dont even need a replicator company, Only 1 copy needed, have ISO copy on the website for d-load then the schiff's volenteers could simply make copies for themselves (many should have DVD writers) and deliver them to conneticut voters's homes (like flyers)
3) almost EVERY HOME has a DVD player TODAY, people will have the convinience to watch it WHENEVER they want

@dudebud007 - not really... I mean, maybe outside the use you can buy blank discs for less than a cent in bulk, but the replication and creating a glass master and printing labels on the disc is where the real cost comes in.
And very few Schiff volunteers are going to be willing to make ANY DVD copies at home with their own time and expense. He's having a hard enough time getting people to make free phone calls, much less burning out thousands of discs and handing them out.

and do realize how long it takes to burn out a DVD that's only even half-full? If a volunteer tried to burn out even a 100 in a day using Toast or Nero it would take them all day long using one burner.

@dudebud007 - Right, 5 min. with one burner is about 12 discs an hour - so assuming they sat there all day (like 8 hours - a whole work day) that's about 100 discs - assuming they don't stop to eat or do anything else.
Look, my all I'm saying is - yes, a few months ago I think it would've worked and helped out. And, if someone living in CT want to make as many as they can (a million not being possible) and give 'em to potential voters, then that's cool.

@hyylo The reason why we have an income tax is that we the people have to back the interest on the debt created. Money is debt. We pay income tax to pay for the interest on the debt. Do away with the Federal Reserve and have interest free money, there will no longer be a need for the income tax. Precious metals will have to inventually play their role in the monetary system, but at least interst free money would be a great start. Kennedy tried this.

Consumption (Value Added) tax? When you tax consumption, you get less consumption, from MP3 players to autos to new homes.

@hyylo - do your research, America's explosion of wealth came AFTER the introduction of the Income tax, and after tariffs stopped being the primary tax of the United States. Income tax was started circa 1905, at the rate of 1%. It was around 1910 that income tax became the primary tax revenue source of the US. Look at the GDP then versus the peak in 2008, adj for inflation, and you'll see the GDP is much greater than before the income tax.

A consumption tax only affects you as you spend so you'd still buy what you would normally and keep the rest, while income tax you lose money whether you buy anything or not. But yeah, good luck finding anyone invested in the system to agree to getting rid of the income tax because it would mean less spending.

@MaurDL - Much of this hinges upon the rate. If the Consumption tax was perhaps 10%, I think you may be right. However, if it's 25-30%, it would be a tax that is punitive in nature for taking part in the economy. I don't trust tax rates to remain low, no matter who is in power. A consumption tax of 30% would be disastrous for the economy, and I do foresee tax rates going that high albeit very slowly.

However, here's what I see: a flood of government entitlement spending, an additional entitlement, and reform that in effect nationalizes entities of the Government's choosing. People wean from heroine easier than entitlements, and Greece is my proof. The left is going to argue that taxes must go up to pay for the programs, and they're arguing consumption tax in addition to income tax, which would shift tax burden to nearly 70% and demolish the economy.

Too much going on in here. Although I am not familiar with the local politicians, I needed to watch this video a few times to even get the point.
You are saying that Linda supports Democrats right and is therefore bad. Why not say that once or twice clearly and not 4 or 5 times vaguely.
But I am not sure at what demographic this add is aimed. It does nothing for me. Seeing you in 2 milli seconds hurriedly authorising the advert makes you come across as insecure and shy. I know you are not.

@APRtunedAudi wrestling is pretty much UFC with a soap opera behind it.
There's no "fake" to it, it's the same shit. If anything, wrestlers have to go through more athletic rigors than MMA fighters. I've never understood why people try to hold WWF/WWE over Linda's head like it's a bad thing, and I hate WWE's PG programming nowadays.
