  • The greatest leadership relation between Britain and the U.S. since FDR and Winston Churchill.

  • @Sumoto999 when the uk was not yet irrelevant in the theater of world politics lol

  • Lol both are bullshitt take cool war one kind of excused and used it to fuck the people and start to private all the government in British an US shut down the union and take over all people benefits and put in on corporation hands that is good deal because after that they pay for campaign lol

  • two horrible anti working class bastards

  • i was a child and knew nothing of politics, and didn't care, i was just a little girl. but even i heard of marget thatcher. all i knew was she was the president of england. so, take it as you will.

  • Say what you will, no one can deny their countries boomed superbly under their leadership.

  • Damn. A couple of third world countries now.

    Keep it up leftists.

  • @Darkrunner1975 Right... But I wouldn't say Third World... Not yet.

  • two of the greatest hypocrites in human history

  • @stefa4k0 : It looks like you enjoyed to the fullest the RED, RUSSIAN OCCUPATION OF YOUR COUNTRY for 50 years, living under oppession from the comunist, with out freedom of speech, freedom of the press and under one political party ( the comunist one ) in wich you most obey their way or be silenced for ever.

So, thanks to people like Thacher and Reagan comunism does not rule easter Europe anymore and millions of people can choose their destiny and not having to live under comunism anymore !!

  • This is the type of leaders that we crave to have these days.

  • Two great leaders. We need more like them today. I love them for their truth and their inspiration.

  • Two of the worst leaders of democratic countries in history.

  • Look what's happened since then. A couple of weakling countries, that people laugh at.

  • die maggie die!

  • Things seemed so much better under the administration of their governments...

  • Vomit.

  • Thatcher and Reagan were the best two human rights activists in my lifetime. They freed millions from state slavery of socialism. So many people have freedoms due to these two peoples brave stands. What an amazing legacy.

  • British & American leaders always have a "special relationship."

  • People didnt like thatcher cause she stood up for the rights of this country she took no shit, unlike all the idiots we got in power now. As for the unions they only had themselves to blame for job losses they got greedy and went to far,by holding her and the COUNTRY to ransom. Like they are trying to do agian now, bout time we had another great leader like her one who will stand up for the people of this country and makwe us great again

  • Can't wait till the day she dies. Bitch.

  • Fuck you!

  • @jbm505rugby She did so much harm to this country. Child poverty tripled under her bigoted regime, destroying entire villages with it.

I have no clue how anyone can glorify her.

  • @llTomlll Poverty stats are a total nonsense, and tell us nothing. Thatcher took over a country that was on the brink of being destroyed by the far left, unions under KGB orders. She failed to cut taxes quick enough and that was a problem.

  • @jbm505rugby NO NO NO FUCK YOU!!!!!!! Sorry, just wanted to respond to your curt retort !!!!! Who was this in response to?? Was it this loser with the "can't wait until she" - whatever line here, under this comment? Checked out his home page and apparently he's from the UK (I shoulda' figured not many fellow yanks on here yanking to the Thatcher.

  • @Annamandabella I forgot how I was going to finish that comment before and accidentally hit enter

  • Ron Reagan and Margaret Thatcher both walked out on the Bilderberg Ruling that is to this day held once a year in Switzterland because the Bilderberg represented back hand dishonest scemes to control the world into one world goverment. and the reason Margaret was bwetrayed by her own cabnet members was because the Bilderberg conspired against Margaret.

  • @petragurney Jesus Christ you're an idiot.

  • Bloody hell shut the fuck up u cunt She and Ron hated the communist. They're my heroes

  • How about that narration: "They share the same RIGHT WING philosophy, a belief in the free market, low taxes, minimum government, and a strong defense." So that's what constitutes right wing philosophy? I dare say that the vast majority of free people on earth share that "right wing" philosophy. Let's just call it what it is, common sense philosophy, simply because it works.

  • @3434arc1 On your comment about Thatcher and Reagan - great one. These libs would call the Founding Fathers right wing fanatics. Everyone except libs seem to have seen where the left wing got Russia, the PRC before market reforms, North Korea, Cuba, Ethiopia, etc. Anglo-Saxons aren't moving in droves to Moscow, Havana, and Poland for a reason; it's the reverse.

  • Bush and Blair OHHHHHH GOOODDDDDDDDDDD don't even get me started.

    The Gipper and Maggie: Remarkable.

  • These two people f*cked up a lot of shit. Essentially their deregulutions contributed to the huge crisis we're now in.

Yet the're gods to some people.

  • @abelmaster BULLSHIT!!!!!!! While Clinton was fending off the inevitable outcome of his infidelities at their height in 98/99 Brooksley Born was trying to regulate the derivatives market so that what recently happened, wouldn't have happened but do to Greenspan Rubin and Summers (law firm?) and the then Chief Executives (lord of liberals himself) the shit was allowed to continue blah blah blah..................you know!

  • @Annamandabella I'm not talking about Clinton. I'm talking about Thatcher and Reagan... I'm not defending Clinton. His economic policies were wrong in many ways, however the economic tide was in his favour. Clinton is a supporter of the neoliberal model, just like Thatcher and Reagan. We need more regulations and oversight, but it's not going to happen with the two-party status-quo in the US. I'm neither a Democrat nor a Republican.

  • Comment removed

  • @abelmaster HUH? If the "economic tide was in his favour" (which I agree it was) then why did he choose or allow himself to be lead into the ebbing of this tide? GREED? BUFFOONERY? INCOMPETENCE? I agree this party bullshit annoys the hell out of me also but what shall we do? What shall we do? Lets give credit where it is due, no matter what these Spitting Image models did then, it begot (or as Ronnie once put it "trickled down") results to these squander-ers of latter times.SHAME ON THEM!SHAME

  • I love Mrs. Thatcher she was a great leader I really do hope that an American woman can do what she did for the UK here in the States she was tough as nails like Indira Gandhi, Benazir Bhutto, Hillary Clinton & Sarah Palin all are my love for Britain is much due the job she did and how she opned up the world to the great people of the country she ruled so well!

  • The Iron Lady---well named!

  • A good clip ruined by the horrifically gay english music

  • What a great posting....

The two of them were meant for their times...and one could only hope that there is some future two that could match their wisdom, wit, and political acumen.

  • i bet you reagan, maggie and reagan's wife go it on.

  • Reagan and Thatcher if we still had leaders with back bone the US and the UK would be untouchable and respected.

  • "The belief in the free market, low taxes, minimum government and a strong defence" - Too many awesome things in one sentence.

  • Here is some trivia.... In 1983, both Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip made a special visit to the Reagan ranch in California too. It rained and poured so hard that Nancy kept apologizing for the mudslides as the Jeep that the Queen was riding in got stuck while going up the mountain.

  • The left is destropyed. The evil of the left, happy to ensure the death of millions in the name of socialism is no more.

Never again will there be millions dying in the name of Lenin or Stalin. The useful idiots can wish our leaders ill but, thank God the socialists will ever be able to act with violence against the innocent people who disagree with them again.

Die Communism but not the useful idiots who supported Lenin's tyranny..

  • post something on some of Hanns Eislers videos of communism,

im sure alot of people would kick the shit out of you for saying this stuff, i never dare to mention conservatism on there or capitalism

  • REAGAN AND THATCHER... hopefully they reincarnate, they were amazing. Recent politics have been much less attractive

  • That is class!!!

They don't make world leaders like them anymore.

  • The two most admirable heads of government of the 20th century (Calvin Coolidge is a very close third).

  • Two utterly BRILLIANT leaders.

  • I think they both are great leaders. God Bless Them Both!!!!!

  • @tell302man Here Here! :)

  • Keep right on, Maggie!

  • Cloe, you're obviously right. It's the rest of the world that's wrong. We all imagined the gap between rich and poor getting wider and wider. We all imagined the yuppies living it up on the proceeds of the flogged-off services. We all imagined the attacks on our health and education systems, and the mile-long dole queues getting longer. The record crime levels, the entire communities wiped out by the savaging of their lifeblood industries. It was all just a bad dream. Thank God for that.

  • I think the heated debate here maybe illustrates what was wrong with her policies. Wherever her name comes up, this happens, at least where people from different backgrounds are able to debate. She took care of the well-off at the expense of the poor, and I've never seen any credible defense against this charge. That's why the Conservatives still can't pick up votes in working class areas, where they need to pick them up if they're to win a majority. She messed it up for all who followed her.

  • So you mean those working class accents we hear today among British CEOs were born well off? LOL!

She messed it up for John Major? Hardly.

Blair WAS a Thatcherite. Gordon Brown is on the way out.

  • Were John Major's policies or Tony Blair's policies really so different from Thatcher's? They have the luxury of inheriting a system she had already fixed through her transitional years, which were painful for some.

Thatcher made the poor well off, and that is how she took care of them. She offered opportunities and incentives to get ahead.

The credible evidence is the vast increase in people who had no home or shares before Thatcher who did after.

  • God, you Tories and your Tax. You benefit from living in a society, whether you know it or not, and the handful of people who should be taxed most are those who benefit most from living in that society. But they shouldn't give much back, save perhaps a few minimum wage jobs. They may milk the rest of all they wish. Perhaps if they want to be rugged individualists, 'I ain't paying no freakin taxes' etc, they should go and live in the woods.

Your cosy world is very different to most people's Cloe.

  • Let's not call them income taxes. Let's call them disincentives to work.

Recently, I was offered a £3,000 pay increase, if I took on some added responsibilities. But after tax, it didn't look very attractive, so I refused the offer.

Have you heard of the brain drain? Does it concern you? I recall that some UK universities refused to carry periodicals that listed jobs in the USA.

If people can't make money in the UK but can elsewhere, there is the temptation to leave. Is that what you want?

  • If those who can afford private schools use them, that's good, because it means tax can be redeployed to where it is really needed.

  • Thatcher is getting a hero's funeral. Most people I know loved her.

  • Ah well, again, it's luck, see. Background, too. Everyone I know detested her, and will protest if they give her a state funeral. Putting that carazy, self-serving megalomaniac any recognition at all would be an insult to the real heroes of this country. There are petitions already to rpevent it. Hero? Zero. Pol Pot was a hero to the people he took care of, too.

Hope your back gets better soon. Your health insurance might run out.

  • You spend too many words vilifying Thatcher and not enough defending your position.

  • My world isn't cosy. It involves long hours and a considerable amount of work. I just happen to be laid up in bed with backache.

Why do you assume that when Tories create jobs, they are low income jobs? It's a kind of slander. Science park jobs are not low income. The programmer jobs I created were not low income, unless you think £50K/yr. is low.

I don't believe that I use more services than average, because I don't have time to enjoy those services (e.g., parks, pools).

  • Assumption? err, I was made redundant 7 times between 1980 and 1987, each time as a direct result of mentarist madness, and each time I got a new job, the wages had dropped. Meanwhile, profits for the privileged increased. It's the real; world.

You're lucky you can afford to have a bad back by the way. that's what it's all about. Luck. Shares? They're your world. You stay in there Cloe. You wouldn't last five minutes in the real one.

  • Thatcher was retooling the economy from one based on wealth confiscation to prop up loss making industries to a "normal" economy where businesses that turn a profit survive, and those that create goods and services people don't want or that are too expensive fail.

You may have had hardships during the transition period, but during the Major and Blair years, you were a beneficiary of that transition. Not everyone feels benefits immediately, but can you imagine a continuation of Callaghan?

  • Thatcher saved Great Britain, unless don't wqnt petrol which was not delivered by striking lorry drivers.

Thatcher saved Great Britain, unless you want your farm animals starving from lack of feed.

Thatcher saved Great Britain, unless you never take the train.

  • The mad cow screwed Britain. She ruined our town and hundreds of others, bankrupting its industry and letting the big guns squeeze the small businesses out. All the corner shops died during her rule. Ironic, isn't it? She sacked millions, and sold everything off for a fast buck for the overprivileged. Jesus Christ, Cameron hasn't got anything left to flog off. What IS that retard going to do IF he manages to fool enough people to get in? Any ideas? Has HE?

  • She starved out healths ervice, closing wards and whole hospitals. Her cuts crippled out schools, increasing child illiteracy to record levels, just like the hyperthermia and malnutrition cases among the elderly due to her robbing them of their pension increases.

A vicious, crazed, fascist dictator loving version of Hyacinth Bucket. A general celebration should be called the day she pops her clogs. May it be soon.

  • The practices that lead to mad cow disease predated Thatcher, and Thatcher enacted laws to prevent mad cow in the future.

Whenever there is change, some towns will benefit and others will suffer. This is normal and will happen regardless of the government. Fortunately, there is such a thing called mobility that enables people to relocate where the jobs are.

Thatcher did not bankrupt industry. She stopped using our taxes to prop up unprofitable industries.

  • What do you mean, "All the corner shops died?" Are you saying that I was shopping at imaginary corner shops in Newnham Villiage, Cambridge? There are a dozen there, virtually unchanged from the Thatcher period.

I don't have a problem with there being a choice between corner shops and Marks & Sparks, Sainsbury's, and Tescos. More choice is not a bad thing.

Ordinary people bought shares of BP, BT, and BA. They went from loss making state enterprises to enormously profitable private ones.

  • 150 pounds was all you needed to buy shares of British Gas. The privatisation advertisements were aimed at ordinary people.

People who had formerly been dependent on the state for jobs and shelter could become property owners. They could buy their council flats. The market economy created better jobs.

  • She flogged off council accommodation to those who could afford to buy, and she did what exactly with the money? Build more cheap accommodation? No, she gave it to the rich in the form of tax cuts, and created nice conditions for private landlords.

You imagine that all 'ordinary' people had 150 quid to buy shares in something that was already theirs to begin with? Yep Cloe, you're gone.

Those blue tinted spectacles might not fit you so well one day. We can all hit on hard times.

  • Well said. The sale of council homes wasn't a 'gift' from Thatcher, they were sold off for ideological reasons. Tory mentality: let the state own nothing. That's it, fundamentally. They'd like our health service to be sold off too, hell, even our Police and Fire Service if they could get away with it.

It's up to 'ordinary people' to keep these buggers out. Never again.

  • So the sale of BT: resounding success then? For whom? Not the customers.

Cloe, you would've learned a whole lot from looking around deprived areas at that time. Hard working and proud people, ruined.

Actually, it's interesting that cloe concedes some areas suffered while certain areas, like

Newham Village, Cambridge, thrived. Robbing Peter to pay Paul, who already had plenty, because he was a ducking, diving go-getter. Yessir. Peter? Bollocks to Peter.

  • Thatcher did not rob Peter to pay Paul. As I already explained, Paul was being taxed to subsidise Peter's mine. Thatcher stopped that. In other words, she stopped the robbery of Paul. She did not rob Peter.

You like to talk about British industry. Is not Chiroscience industry? They eliminate harmful mirror image drug by-products. They grew from nothing in a Cambridge science park, were sold to Celltech. There were so many start-ups that created wealth under Thatcher and after Thatcher.

  • Before Thatcher the North of England was covered with extremely dirty industries. The sky was blackened by soot and smoke. These industries were poisoning our environment, losing money, eating tax, and fueling inflation, because there wasn't enough tax to pay for it.

Your concept of British industry is the smokestack industries making products that nobody wants buy using our taxes to employ workers who like to strike and extort unjustifiable raises. The industries we have now are better.

  • 'Blackened skies' hehe, I think this woman's only ever seen the North of England in a Lowry picture.

  • Blissful ignorance. You have absolutely no idea, do you? 'Of course they can afford shares, if they want to'. If only you knew how daft that looks. There's one thing about that mad old cow: she made the Tory party the unelectable bunch of toffeee nosed twits they are to this day. Precisely because of their selfish ignorance, they were ousted, and they won't get anything like a working majority if they manage to slither past the post ever again.

She's a symbol of the division she created.

  • She's entitled to her view, but my own memories of the Thatcher years are particularly dark ones. I think her relationship with Reagan worried a lot of people, because he wasn't, well, the sharpest tool in the shed, was he? Seriously though, she did divide the country. The 'haves' love her, and the 'have nots' hate her with equal and opposite venom. In that way, she can't ever be seen in the same way as, say, Churchill, whose leadership defeated Nazism. She split the country in two.

  • If Margaret Thatcher divided Great Britain into the haves and the have-nots, why were there so few regional and working class accents in the boardrooms of the City of London before Thatcher? Why are people from all backgrounds now represented among British CEOs?

Thatcher did not divide people. She saw everyone as a potential have. What kind of people live in a council house? The haves? I think not. But those were precisely the people she enabled to be property owners.

  • That rancourous, coiffered old sow gave nothing, and left nothing, unless you include the stinking legacy of a gluttonous uberclass and a pathetic subdivision of arseholes who think they're better because they took their council house off her hands, as she wanted.

When she, hopefully very soon, shuffles off this mortal coil, she should be buried in a compost heap, topped with pigshit and used as an absorption agent in a cesspool beneath a public urinal somewhere in the provinces.

  • 'Most people now own shares' eh? That might be true in your idyllic olittle hamlet madam, but not in the real world. At the end of her disastrous rule, when even her own party could see what a liability she was, Britain became like Germany at the end of WW2 with its apparrent lack of Nazis. It was impossible to find anyone who'd admit to having ever voted for her. She's a vile, despicable, rancid old cow who took, but never gave, except to those who already had. May she rot in hell.

  • Thatcher never lost an election and won with overwhelming majorities.

You might bother to look up share ownership statistics for Great Britain, which tripled from 1979 to 1985.

  • An ad hominem comment, unworthy of a response. Real GDP grew 23%.

  • Most British people now do own shares. They may not think about it that way, but they own shares through the mutual funds in their retirement funds.

During the Thatcher years, share ownership doubled to almost 50%, and it has continued to rise since then. The same can be said of home ownership. The majority benefited under Thatcher.

Thatcher did what was thought impossible, the simultaneous reduction of unemployment and inflation.

  • I have been to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the Lake District, Chatsworth in Derbyshire, Manchester, and many other places. The skies of industrial cities were blackened.

Rather than making a personal attack, why don't you give your opinion. In 1979 do you deny the industrial pollution? If you don't recall, ask your parents.

Dirty industries blacken skies. Now we see it in China. I would rather see Great Britain dotted with science parks than soot.

  • Of course, the state should own as little as is necessary.

If you own your own house, don't you take better care of your INVESTMENT than if you are simply using a state owned house? What I am proposing is not radical. It has been proved by psychological experiments. When housing is not perceived as belonging to someone, it is often vandalised.

Please send me one reference indicating that the privitisation of police and fire is a goal.

  • Before Thatcher taxes were 90%. When taxes are that high, the government can increase revenue by cutting taxes, because a 90% rate is such a disincentive to wealth creation. Back in those days, Roger Moore and many British celebrities would remain out of the UK for most of the year for tax avoidance. Jim Callaghan said, "Sometimes, when I go to bed, I think that if I were a young man I would emigrate."

  • Who are "the rich"? You talk about "the rich" as if they were some fixed group of people, like "the Jews." They were not.

Now one hears so many working class accents among the newly rich, so many Northern accents. To Thatcher, anyone is potentially rich.

Do not ordinary people have televisions and cars? LOL! Of course, they can afford shares, if they want to. And share ownership is up threefold since 1979.

    Thatcher made Britain prosperous.

  • The French hate Thatcher because she proved that their system did not create wealth or jobs.

  • Nah. they hate her because she's a stuck up, stupid, fascist dictator and Reagan loving cow who thinks greed is a virtue. Same as the British do. And anyone who took Reagan seriously...for fuck's sake....

  • Thatcher saved Great Britain, unless you like rats eating uncollected garbage on the streets.

Thatcher saved Great Britain, unless you don't need an answer when phoning 999.

Thatcher saved Great Britain, unless you need to go to the hospital where NHS workers have a picket line you can't cross.

Thatcher saved Great Britain, unless you need to have a body buried.

Thatcher saved Great Britain, unless you like brown outs and blackouts.

  • could anyone please spell me the whole speech made by margaret thatcher at the end of the video? thanks!

  • Pol Pot and Ronald Reagan:

The regime of Khmer Rouge/Pol Pot killed about 2,3 - 3 million poeple 25 decembre 1978 the troups of the unified (communist) Vietnam entered in Cambodia w. the aim to stop this genocide and to destroy the Khmer Rouge. A guerrilla-war between Vietnamese Troups and the Khmer Rouge began for many years.

The USA under Ronald Reagan and the communist China were supporters of the Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge in this long war with arms, CIA informations and support in UN

  • Pol Pot and Ronald Reagan / part 2:

The cynisme of the USA under Ronald Reagan was so horrible to support a primitive-communist fraction which made genocide ...... and why: because of revenge / sentiment of vengeance against Vietnam because of the lost Vietnam-war. And even the CIA created a no-.communist but antivietnamese group which fought at the side of Pol Pot against the new pro-vietnamese cambodian goverment and the vietnamese army ...... 1 million cambodian more died in this war

  • Pol Pot and Ronald Reagan / part 3:

It was Bill Clinton who stopped the support of Khmer Rouge and finaly they lost definitly the war against the new combodian goverment and their vietnamese supporten en 1998.

    Consequence:

Ronald Reagan too is a criminal of war and one of the cause of the genocide in 'Cambodia .

  • youd rather have the communists with their gulags and killing fields runing the world than god decent honest hard working anglo saxons you dirty mold eating french leftist scum

sarko is right you red belt types are nothing but scum

    Sarko sarko vive le sarko!

  • good decent god fearing anglo saxons

  • I'm not a conservative but I can't understand what was wrong with these peoples' views on the idea of the rule of law and laissez faire.

Their ideas are vastly superior to the half-wits and charlatans running their respective countries over the financial abyss now.

I consider myself a liberally inclined pragmatist so if I apply concomitant analysis of Labour today and the Tories then; well the tories win hands down.

PS: fuck political correctness; it is real you wet obscurantists!

  • i consider myself socially liberal and fiscally moderate i think they call it third way or just centrist, at the time i was a socialist and haated them both intensely

i realize now they saved their respective economies/societies from collapse they did what was NECESSARRY

now? yeah i did not vote for obama because i was afraid hed go to far..

hm? maybe once i was right

  • You are. I can tell you with the benefit of a New Zealand perspective: we're much smaller, and we introduced reforms called Rogernomics in the 1980s. It's a political bogeyman to bring up these reforms but they've made our country competitive.

We used to have farm subsidies and a government stores board and ministry of works; people used to say "I came to New Zealand in the weekend, but it was closed."

The labour Prime Minister said our economy was run like a polish shipyard.

    socialism=fail

  • Margret Thatcher, best friend of the killer Pinochet, lost completly in 2008. The Thatcherisme and Reaganomics are dead with the economic crisis, and now we know that all this was a wrong concept.

And Margret Thatcher will be in the hell ..... Ronald Reagan and the mass-murder Pinochet are waiting for her in the hell and Satan too

  • oh here you are you froggie commie

    apologizing for stalin and accusing

    conservatives of being murderers

yeah like che gueverra and pol pot never hurt anyone

  • billysands

    que tu es vraiment stupide

si ta stupidité te faisait douleur

tu devrais pleurer jour et nuit

  • je ne sens aucune douleur. je suis heureux. parce que. je ne suis pas un homosexuel communiste français

  • billysands.

you are realy so so stupid..... it is difficult to meet a person so stupid like you ....... and you do not know my story:

i have been in Afghanistan for 3 months as police support and saw die young french soldiers ........ and you are sitting in your shit and do not know nothing.

P.S.: I am member of UMP party of

    Nicolas Sarkozy and gaulliste,

  • Notre Général did not like american politics in Vietnam and was one of the most important criitics of American arrogance and in 1965 he said to Johnson to stop Vietnam-war because the USA will lose ..... and that was right, 9 years later

  • then stop prasing communists

    bloody french

you know the next time the germans invade you can fight them off with

    baggettes and blue cheese

    ingratefull cheese eating surrender monkey!

  • i adored De Gaulle

  • vive le quebec vie le quebec libre

    vive la canada francais

    et vive la france!

he got you out of algeria he saved france from the nuerotic left

he was god's emmissarry to the French

  • Vietnam? Sacre bleu! You mean the longtime French colony that was colonised an humiliated by the French? It is no wonder Vietnam became communist after French rule.

  • Communisme et liberte? C'est ne pas tout a faire le meme chose. En verite, le deux chose sont rairment ensemble.

  • Two very special great people. I don't understand how two of humanity's greatest leaders end up leading two western powers at the same time. But thank God they did or we would be dealing with fallout right now, the both of us.

  • now thats what we need in the president/prime minister reletionship again! if Regan had said "yo Thatcher!" he'd have gotten a handbag crammed up his ass! a bit of respect of the US for our history and of the UK for the US's strength would do the world a lot of good.

  • your nothing without us NOTHING

    never forget that punk

  • I wonder if they ever fucked.

  • ofcourse they had intercourse

  • the two greatest modern day leaders

  • Agreed.

  • Comment removed

  • They will forever be remembered for freeing 300,000,000 from communism in Eastern Europe. And rightly so. They will also be remembered for restoring hope and pride to their respective nations. America's confidence had been sapped by the debacle of the Vietnam War, and Britain's economic decline seemed terminal, and our influence had waned since the Suez debacle. Both magnificent leaders restored our nations to their rightful place. The world will never see another Reagan and Thatcher.

  • Reagan and Thatcher's role in ending the Cold War are blown up out of proportion. Gorbachev's policies that led to the unraveling of the Soviet Union and its satellites were much more important to ending communism than Reagan. Reagan in fact escalated the Cold War in the early 80's.

  • Wrong, Reagan ended detente, which was a policy pursued for 30 years before Reagan became President. It didn't work, and Reagan had the courage to begin a massive military build up which scared the shit out of the commies.

  • Gorbachev! Sure, he "dismantled" the USSR. No way, jose. Gorby tried to keep that decrepit, corrupt and inept system in place by changing the window dressing from sour-pussed to smiling. If he brought down the USSR why is it that is took an inept coup attempt to push him off the world stage?

  • Good times!

  • Q.Why hasnt Jennie left a lasting impression on the public as an individual?

Anne Sebba.. A."why hasnt she? The idea that she was a half caste and that Churchill owed his extravagant side to her, whereas his brilliance and good connections were due to his Marlborough (father) side.. most Churchill historians have given Jennie a bad press. I think Winstons 1930 memoir, My Early Life, didnt help because he called his mother distant and so she has been criticized for being a bad mother"

  • Whereas...

John Washington - Englishman, Virginia planter and politician, 1st yank president Georges great grandfather, became a successful planter for English in colonies in "america", served in the Virginia House of Burgesses, set up by the Virginia Company of London, adopted English common Law. Washington is buried along with his wife in Thrapston churchyard, Northamptonshire, England.

  • america borrows British stuff... Language - English Anthem - borrow John Stafford Smith British hymn Pastime - Baseball Brits invented for kids Dish - Apple Pie English English Bill of Rights (1689) - america copied Wren's St Pauls Cathedral - america copied dome for US Capitol Wilberforce end Slavery, america copied Pankhurst women Vote, america copied her Lord Kitchener - america copied Music - Beatles #1 in us Book - "Shakespeare Society of america" Film - Hitchcock/Chaplin #1
  • Georgie.. Emmeline Pankhurst one of Time magazine "100 people of the 20th Century" - yanks COPIED her and the Suffrage movement.

I love the name Alfie by the way.. just like the Lily Allen song. classy.

  • haha.. i didnt know that abot Time... thanks for the ammo, also Brit PM Neville Chamberlain agreed some crap with Germans.. then in walked the leader of the free world and the Icon of WWII Churchill and ALONE told all the fascists to get to fuck

The bizarre analogy made me chuckle Georgie.. this was Pankhurst at the end of the century being named in the top 100 people for what she did..her legacy.

  • lolz... Georgie porgie.. you give me chuckles..haha, Pankhurst led the Suffrage... the woman was a revolutionary hence america copied her

On a Sidenote...Swedish chicks are smokin

  • Churchill was such a great leader - the West owes him so much, and those brave members of the military that fought for our very way of life by sacrificing their own.

I agree about Harold Wilson also. I disagree fundamentally with his economic policies (he being from the Labour party) but in many ways, especially with regard to social reforms, he was a good Prime Minister.

  • lol..Kylester

...and what country am i from Sir ??? as it aint Britain, hence what you say instantly is fallacy. I deal in factoids.. only factoids. 1/2 yank.. lol, yeah sure.. thats why america gives HONORARY citizen to FOREIGNERS.. as they did to the Icon of WWII Churchill in gratitude for standing alone against fascism and also leading his men to Victory in Battle of Britain 1940.. saving the West in the process

Britain #1, america dominated by using their stuff.. heres list kylester...

  • haha.. Kylester come into the real world pal..lol. Let me educate you some on GREAT Brits mother..

Anne Sebba biographer of Churchill's mother..quote... "dont forget Jennie really was NOT an American. She didn't speak with an American accent, but then I realizedwell, why would she have done because she was mostly educated in Paris not NYC. She saw herself as a European. All the culture she imbibed in her crucial adolescent years was French"

Frenchie.. who then died and buried in Britain

  • haha.. kylester.. Frenchie (who had zero influence on the GREAT Brit).. bad mother

IF Britain had good weather from Sep-Mar then it would be paradise (it was inside those months when i was there btw)

Everyday i read about another magnificent Brit.. its endless. Just today i read about Explorer Sir John Franklin who mapped almost two thirds of the northern coastline of North America. Yes Britain has more Icons than any other nation.. but still i never cease to be amazed by its brilliance

  • For the benefit of anyone not familiar with Ali74, he's the biggest liar on YouTube. Pay no attention of his failed attempt at histrionics. Instead of factual debate, he sticks his finger up his rectum, and pulls out errr, aaah, facts.

As the old cliche goes, if a thought ever entered his brain, it would die of loneliness.

Okay Alfie, now go sit at the toddler table. You're not anywhere near ready for prime time.
