I would use a Soviet pistol, when asked by superiors how you died i would say, previously unknown hostiles hid in a nearby trench line, unknown to us and shot you from the side which accounts for the close range of the shot. The hostiles then retreated to a nearby hill and were out of sight.

rpg can be used from multiple directions... in case of an ambush...its not like that Taliban one only have 1 rpg. If not an rpg another form of a rocket can easily cause severe damage and casualties. Since there was only one chopper involved it was better for foot troops to give chase and the chopper cud keep eyes on the horizon.... in Afghanistan the terrain is not the ideal for chopper combat either.
