  • Hi Justin, I think you're a good guitar teacher and nice one too. You make students like me feel at home right away! anyway I'm a Filipino (Philippines) and I play guitar in a military band. Are you from down under because of your English accent? just curios! anyway thanks for the lessons I'm really learning them articulately fast!

  • hey man!!! can you tell me by MP or here whaat kind of strings do you use??

  • hi justin, im a real fan of your lessons, i know them all. didnt you say in "you shook me all night long" that the sg was not yours?! XD. its a joke, very nice lesson, dude, keep going, you play very good and you know how to teach your skills very well!

  • Thanks for another very useful lesson, it's not to see a different take on pentatonic stuff Justin.

  • Hi, Justin!

    A great lesson again!

I'm a beginner, but one day I want to be on stage with the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton ;-). Your lessons are very helpful on my way to Rock'n'Roll.

All we are saying is : Justin for President!

  • Hey Justin, great licks ;-) I would be interested to learn more about the way to use the pick to get more velocity... Thanks for your good job.

  • Copyrights for guitar licks now that is sick. OK a few months ago I thought about starting a chocolate biz. The next thing I see walking in a farmer's market is someone selling chocolates exactly the way I was thinkinkg. Now if that isn't intellectual property theft I don't what is. Can anyone say e-mind reading?

  • All Gibsons fail in the third string tuning!!

  • Geat lesson and teacher!

  • i realized he was british when he said flick offs instead of pulloffs lmao

  • @gloriousimpactmusic Actually I believe he's Austrailian.

  • @tyrantsbane6 Nay, he's English; hence, from England.

  • @camlpg he's from Australia, moved to London since1996 :D

  • great job, very informative, thanks.

  • Whoa, watched this 6 months ago and said, can't do it. Just 15 minutes ago I learned the 5 Pentatonic Scales and watched this through once and got it all. You cover everything necessary to let me play how I want while using multiple skills to achieve it!

  • 0:00 Incase of ads

  • flick off's...

  • Hi Justin do you supply Tab for all your instruction vid's...

  • LOL PAul Gilbert owns a note!

  • That's a Paul Gilbert lick from his second teaching CD. Maybe a coincidence. It is a nice pattern.

  • excellent lesson, very good to understand. from OZ.

  • Are you angliche ?

  • thanks justin this lesson really help me

  • thanks for the studio line silk and gloss adds google..... Just what i am looking for when i search for guitar tips....

  • ich liebe dich man, i love you :) from germany

    thanks for this great video

  • the website is full of malware

  • is there a hammer on and oull off lesson. im sure its on the website but i cant find it gaaaah!

  • if you need a tab for this go back to guitar hero

  • i see you have a bass trap and a diffuser! what kind of bass trap is?

  • Great playing, but I can tell you don't like using your little finger :)

  • hey justin , i just cant find the tab at your site about this lesson, i looked at the lesson index and its missing

  • @kamenospoli - ok - fixed that - the link is now in the lesson index.

  • @JustinSandercoe

    thanks a lot

  • HEY JUSTIN! One thing is niggling me.. When You do those hammer-ons and pull-offs with Your 3rd finger do You also move Your 2nd finger intentionally (put it on the string)?? Putting it another way: do You use Your 2nd all the time or add it only to bend/vibrato at the end of these licks? I think it's important when it comes to gaining speed. I'll be grateful for Your feedback. Greetings:)

  • Great Job, Pull offs, Hammer ons and Vibrato are how you will get your soul into your playing.

    Justin rules

  • really usefull lesson, it gives instant aplication for soloing

  • I just figured this out on my own today and THEN I find this video. Great...

  • paul gilbert pentatonic lick!!!

  • Paul Gilbert is the MAN! So are you, Justin! These licks are awesome!

  • Thanks for sending Justin. Jacob.

  • Dude your vids are awesome! You really are fantastic at teaching, Please! keep them coming! mucho appreciated!

  • Nice lesson. I do lessons as well but only approach 1 millions views so kudos to you. What camera/mic combo do you use for these HD vids?

  • opening licks a very paul gilbert-esque

  • This IS a Paul-Gilbert lick.

  • Excellent lesson. Thanks very much!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm probably a little late here, but you and Paul seem equally laid back and outgoing so as long as you don't pull out a green Makita I think everything will be cool

  • Turn your microphone up a little bit, because your recordings are way more quiet than the rest of the things i listen to on the same volume

  • Keep the video up of course! These are pentatonic patterns, lots of people have probably come up with them. Paul is a cool dude who probably gives you a lot of respect for teaching this kind of stuff, and guitar in general. You could toss in a link to his lessons to give him credit or something if you want to, but definitely keep this lesson up :)

  • its nice to to see your lessons again

  • 1st part sound like paul gilbert

  • @JustinSandercoe I'm sure Paul wouldn't mind at all.

  • Hey Justin! Did you finally cave and buy an SG??

  • @Ramones1234100 Kind of, I got given it for doing the AC/DC competition :)

  • @JustinSandercoe Wow! You got a Gibson SG for a competition?! Good on you!

  • 5 Stars

  • Keep the video up. There's probably a dozen similar lessons out there. Let the viewer choose which they want to learn from.

  • @JustinSandercoe I reckon you should keep the video up, coz in the end what matters is that people learn guitar whether it's from you or someone else. You can give credit to Paul so everyone would be happy :) Thanks for the wonderful work mate!

  • Great lesson as usual! Who cares about the pinky deal!! To each his own! And who's Paul Gilbert anyway? Is he a cool dude giving fantastic free guitar lessons on Youtube regularly and deserving all of his viewers' respect, tolerance and appreciation for all the efforts he makes for us to improve our skills?Do we really need to tell Justin,he's not the inventor of a pattern and that he needs to use his pinky, or just shut up and practice being thankful for his help?Do I need to answer this here :)?

  • @oaker80

Who's Paul Gilbert? Please tell me you're joking. He is a GREAT guitar teacher and he is considered as one the best guitarists of all time. Watch his lessons on youtube. His videos "intense rock 1 and 2" are one the best instructions on picking.

  • leave this video up ur just giving good ol' guitar tuition that many great guitar play4ers have replicated over the years it doesn't matter who "invented" them...the notes were alr3eady there before the player realized they work good together

  • @JustinSandercoe if u didnt purposely copy paul, dont take the video down, licks will repeat themselves, especially when they r good licks, multiple people will come up with them, all thinking its their own

  • Thank you for another quality lesson

    You kick ass!!

  • that is a awsume guitar Justin . did u just get it? :)

  • you are a good person doing free lessons

  • @JustinSandercoe Give him credit where credit is due.

  • @SteelSkin667 Uh, my comment was incomplete, I was to say that I did see the video, and you get a bit more in the details in your lesson. His was aimed at more advanced players.

  • @JustinSandercoe leave it up...you can give credit to paul gilbert but it's really good and helpful.

  • FLICK OFFS!

  • Thanks... this is real good stuff.

  • flick offs? creating your own lingo ayy???

  • Justin why does the patern change when you moved down a whole step in the patern? Im not getting that concept. Is it cause your in the key of E and that is part of the extended scale?

  • @blink2wice79 yes, you are exactly right. The scale repeats the same notes but further up the neck, which ends up changing the pattern. Check out Justin's blues series to understand better.

  • @JustinSandercoe leave it up. who knows who once taught paul gilbert these licks =)

  • Justin why does the patern change when you moved down a whole step in the patern? Im not getting that concept.

  • @JustinSandercoe Well those patterns are really common and probably on 100's of records, I would leave it up.

  • @JustinSandercoe we love your vids justin..leave it up

  • Hey, of course concepts are going to get repeated. I say keep it up. Pay respect. Even though, who knows who really first came up with it.

  • Leave it up.

  • @JustinSandercoe I wouldn't worry about it.

  • @JustinSandercoe I remeber doing this pattern somewhere before too. 'Tis very Gilberty to be sure... Great lesson exersise tho. Wonder if it's from an old Total Guitar....

  • @JustinSandercoe: Just give credit and leave it up. It's a credit to the guy that his lessons are being repeated by other people :)

  • i think you should just give him some credit...

  • @JustinSandercoe Don't pull this down, your lessons are so great!

  • loving these new HD videos justin. keep up teh good work!

  • Thank You for all of your lessons and help. I am always on your website for one thing or another. out of all the lessons/teachers on Youtube, you are my fave and the one i learned the most from.

Keep up the good work. :)

  • Justin, do you like Paul Gilbert? ;)

  • Hey that's Paul Gilbert's lick ;)

    It's really a good lick

  • I just love your accent and voice :))

  • I broke my D string yesterday

First time I've ever broken a string that wasn't the tiny e string. Weird.

  • why dont you go ...um, peel some carrots, sufferd, u egg

  • I think your B string is a little bit flat, don't know, it might just be youtub. Great lesson though, definately talented in teaching guitar.

  • @nickter Youtube*

  • I ilke the licks as always, but I really miss the "proper" use of the pinky in a lot of your vids. I do understand bending is easier with a finger instead of the pinky, but pinky is very usefull for the fourth position notes.

  • @Sufferd666 they are just choices - my pinky is real little so I don't use it so much... it's up to each player to decide what works for them as far as fingering goes... I thought i was quite good in this and mentioning the little finger options even though I don't use them, no??

  • @JustinSandercoe I understand completely and again really enjoying your helpfull vids. But I also think a pinky should be as important as every other finger, that's all. If you have em..use em :)

  • @Sufferd666 maybe that's the problem for me, I never really got a proper little finger, just a stump ;)

  • I suffer with the stumpy pinky syndrome, really hard to follow some of my friends, without adapting style.

Same issue with stumpy thumb syndrome, can't wrap my thumb over the top like some people do.

love your tutorials, and thank you.

  • @JustinSandercoe & Sufferd666

Clapton doesn't use his pinky when he's soloing or improvising either.

    watch?v=-IZS20ekQmk

  • @JustinSandercoe It's kinda like teaching my kids vegetables are healthy, but not eating vegetables myself at dinner time.. ;)

But hey, I will quit whining about your pinky, you are teaching us some good licks and that's most important!

  • @Sufferd666 but music is art - and therefor originality and being unique, creative and making ones own choices is to be applauded... but teaching your kids to eat healthy is a whole different thing, it's a no brainer.

  • haha first view ^^
