Zinnia: You are making an assumption that people give any regard to logic, reason, truth, substantiation, evidence and the like. You assume that people will listen to you when you use "soundness" or appeal to reason. A case in point is when one clearly states that they do not believe in any gods and that a bible means nothing to them other than being an old book. So often, the sole counter argument (and I use that term very loosely) is the citation of a passage from the bible. Should we bother?

second, we shouldn't feel comfortable stooping to their level. in an argument, both sides SHOULD always respect reason and truth, but they don't always do so. doesn't make it any less important to be morally correct in argumenst. that way, if the person flat out ignores reason and the argument turns out to be fruitless, you can still be satisfied by your own validity. its a gratifying feeling
I enjoyed this video. I'm quite good at arguing as well, but you showed me some tips and guidelines to avoid some mistake I do when having a discussion with some one else. @FilmPriest There is a difference between "sex" and "gender". "Sex" is solely to do with your genitalia while "gender" on the other hand is a mental thing. If one is born with a non-matching sex and gender, you will get people who are physically male yet are mentally female. @FilmPriest There is a difference between "sex" and "gender". "Sex" is solely to do with your genitalia while "gender" on the other hand is a mental thing. If one is born with a non-matching sex and gender, you will get people who are physically male yet are mentally female. He's not dressing like the opposite gender, because his gender includes feminine characteristics. I'm not sure how he identifies himself, but I'm pretty sure he's dressing to what feels right in is his mind.

"Presidential" style debate procedure:
1) Poison the well with impossible to verify/falsify claims.
2) Construct and maintain straw-men of your opponents if you can get away with it.
3) Make consistent logical fallacies as long as they are subtle and the audience you know will be cheering for you is too stupid to decipher them.
