Hammam is Turkish my Maghreb brothers, i am from Tunisia and it's true, there are differences between the types of Hammam nowadays, for example we in Tunisia don't have a lot of Hammams with a cold part.

Also the Ottoman Empire is where it originated they brought it to Europe, then it was brought to the Phoenician city Carthage (Tunisia) and spread throughout the Maghreb.

Why try to change history by saying it originated in the Maghreb , it's called a Turkish bath for a reason!

@TH3USUALSUSPECT I'm not an expert but there were already hammams in Al-Andalus (Madinat-al-Zahrâ' in Spain) under the Umayyades when Turkish Saljoukides didn't exist anyway, at the time where Iran and Irak were under the Abbassids during the 9-10th century. thank you for reading ;)

I know we are brothers, and we will always be, but hamam is no Turkish invention, the Romans actually were the first to copy the Hamam from the Berber tribes in the Maghreb, then called ( Mauritania) now Morocco/algeria/tunisia. then later copied by Turks and Arabs.

Le Maroc au contraire de l'Algérie et de la Tunisie n'a jamais été envahi pas les turcs, ils ont conservé leurs propres traditions.

La civilisation andalouse a précédé l'empire ottoman, ce serait donc plutôt les turcs qui auraient copiés les arabes.

Ce débat est stérile car les bains de ce style existaient depuis l'antiquité , les romains par exemple en construisaient partout.

Le hamman est donc bien marocain .

@mduz1982 The word hamam is Arabic.As for the tradition,it's originally Roman and Byzantine.The Turks found it when they came to Anatolia.How can a nomad have such a luxury when he struggles for survival.As for the Ottoman tradition in whole,on it's base it's Perso-arabic with many Byzantine elements.
