  • You are the best!!

Though I don't regard the quality of this drawing as excellent,I guess that nobody watch such a making style.

    Thanks.

  • I don't want to sound mean or anything, but... Why copy someone's art?

  • @HanakoFujita さん

It was only accidental occasion.I've been drawing with my own original frequetly.

Anyway, some people are apt to underestimate copying or imitation.Certainly I regard copying as valueless work, but the most important thing is showing techniques.

  • wow O.o

  • @Maritime631

    I see,boy,

    your comment is just jealousy.

  • awesome!!

  • @Sawitteeさん

Although the quality of my drawing is far from (the quality of) digital making, anyway I've been having confidence in analogue making.

    Thanks.

  • AWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESOOOOOOOOOOOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • @Adarinneさん

Analogue drawer is able to express such a taste in spite of no digital drawing.

    Thanks.

This picture was quoted from official guidebook of Queen's Blade.

  • @masataka880 thank you

  • i hate this song

  • @Pandanimelover

I hate a viewer who don't talk about drawing.

If you feel bad,you should watch without sound.

  • Really nice drawing! i keep on going and hope fully i will be as great as u! <3

Although I'm often overestimated this video,I have confidence in other drawings except for this.

    Thanks.

  • @masataka880 Well this drawing is way beyond my level in drawing soo it's a big deal for me! :D

    You're welcome.

This time, the quality of coloring was not good, but line drawing was beautiful.

    Thanks.

    What does it mean? Strong?

  • That really must be time consuming....

  • @iWANsweet さん

Yes,the latter part of making, making illustration with screentone or overlay is especially consuming work.

  • how do you create the darker shades using the overlay? is it you add another layer of darker color on top?

    Nice question^^

I added the darker shades with not overlay but monochrome (ordinary) screentone.

There is a black color as a sort of overlay, and black color overlay will be shade instead of monochrome normal(common, ordinary) screentone.

But I usually express shades, light and darkness with ordinary screentone(we can gain easily) because (IC excel)overlay is quite hard to use due to strong power of adhesion.

    Thanks.

  • nice draw check my channel^^

If you require advice about drawing, you can ask me.

    Thanks.

  • @masataka880 Ok,Thany you Sensei^^

  • this is the first time i see a colour screentone. O.O nice btw

  • @MoonPrincesses さん

Maybe all visitors have never seen such tools.

    Thanks.

  • wonderful picture. you are great, but that music is discusting !!

Yes,once one visitor said the same thing...

Anyway,I was drawing this picture with listening such game music.

  • wtf!!! man! this is god art!

    Nice work man!

    Except for drawing skill,

the significance of this video is introduction of coloring with genuine Manga technique. In analogue style, basic behavior as coloring pictures is just "painting".But by nature Manga style is not "painting" but "sticking" with film.

Needless to say, generally, illustration of analogue Manga style is monochrome as a rule. But I can show colored illustrations with analogue Manga style, sticking with film.

    Thanks.

  • @masataka880 wow, that's really impresive man.

i wish you the best of luck with your work.

And thanks for the Feed-back info.

    You're welcome.

  • simply spectacular !!

    According to my thought,

maybe drawing with analogue(handwork) technique is more suitable for making attractive movie than drawing with digital(PC) tools. This is one of the significance of analogue style.

Frankly speaking, quality of illustrations by analogue technique is truly poor as compared with digital painting, but a scene of making illustrations is vivid for many viewers.

  • hy there,

the colour looks really amazing but this overlay thing is not really my thing, to me it isnt really coloring... it's like a computer color that you can always do fals things again...

haha hope you understand a little... my english is not the best :D

dont know if others sayd it before but for my taste are the eyes a little too far apart

and either the belly is to short or the legs start too early xD^^

but i like that you show the sketches at first <3 you hav a nice styl =3

    well done <3

  • @Sakuranii さん

I'm glad that your viewpoint or comment is superior.

First of all,one of the significance of this video(my drawing style)is just realization of expression like digital coloring without dital coloring. As a rule,it's almost impossible to express like digital drawing in spite of analogue style.

If visitors can't understand that significance, they never understand my esthetic.

By the way,I didn't make mistakes about drawing her body. All I failed is coloring.

    Thanks.

  • @ArtistKeipi さん

    Thank you very much.

But,I basically feel that almost sentence with automatic translation is not understandable for me.In a word,I'm afraid that I suggest,if you want to talk with me,you should speak in English.

By the way,I was referring to difference between Manga/Anime drawing and portrait(realistic drawing with pencil&sketchbook) in my video"What is Manga/Anime drawing?" recently. If you have an interest, check it out, please.

  • @masataka880 Ah, I'm sorry. Yes, I will look at your other videos. You are very talented.

  • LOL. DMC music. BTW AMAZING ARTWORK!!!!

  • @GAMERANIMEJUNKIE さん

Wow,I'm glad that you found out this is from DMC.I often listen DMC when I draw characters.

    Thanks.

  • WOW

  • truly amazing job :D your talent is overwhelming for me as a student, so amazing :)

    You're welcome.

But this time I'm not satisfied with expression of coloring, although I think drawing with pencils or pens was enough.

Perhaps some viewers feel unpleasant by my comment, but to be frank with you,

somehow this drawing is praised frequently and view-count of this video is increasing by degrees recently, but it's not superior drawing for me compared with my other videos! The significance of this video is just showing very rare&unique tool or technique.

    Thanks.

  • Ooo thats ok if u are adult ;3 i understand from ur talk u are big girl and yesh u are Girl cute ;3 im girl too by the way and i adore anime xD im 16 years and i wanna back young too i dont want to be big more ;( so i wanna ask u littel Qs if u mind ;] Mmm whats ur name ? and were ur from ? Dear ^-^

If I'm 16 years old,I wish to be 20 years old because drinking is necesarry for me.

My name is Masataka.I'm Japanese, and I live in Osaka.I'm not Mangaka.I usually translate from Japanese into English without automatic translation.I'm fighting every day.

  • Aha ^_^ so u are more than 25 ?? why u think it is shamed ?? ._. thats ok say ur old and thats mean u are not intersted in anime so much? ;( but u look like Artist to me u should work in this ^_^ good luck in ur life Dear

Well, the reason I don't like answer about age is that my feeling about age is alike female.I hope to be young.

Sorry,in fact I don't know Anime/Manga works & I'm not interested in Anime/Manga works very much.In a word,I usually draw Anime/Manga characters in spite of indifference to Anime works. So some criticisms about it are inevitable.

    Thanks.

  • You're very good at drawing what you see. It looks like the exact same thing except bigger!

Strictly speaking, this drawing is not the same as model, slightly different.I don't regard this drawing as exact. But I don't think this is not failure because I have confidence this drawing looks as good as model.

The important thing for me is whether picture is good or not good as compared with model. It's almost impossible to draw the same picture exactly because human being is not copy machine after all.

    Thanks.

  • wow wonderfull how old are you ?/ how u learn to draw amazing like this? i hope im u ;c

I started Manga drawing since 2000.autumn,but I won't talk about my age because it's ashamed for me personally.

From 2001 to 2003,once I was enrolled Manga/Anime college and I learned some Manga technique there. But I didn't learn in earnest because I was a delinquent student a little. So perhaps Manga school is not related to my development very much.

I usually regard practice, theory, method as important. In a word,I don't depend on my natural born talent.

    Thanks.

  • Sugeeeee! You starting drawing from the eyes O_o sugoiii! Fantastic technique!!! Are you a professional artist, Masataka880さん?

  • @Suzukisenpai さん

    Sorry,I'm not professional Manga-ka.

Although I don't draw Anime/Manga characters for living,I wish to master drawing because I'm interested in challenge to my possibility.

  • wow really good *-*

    You're welcome.

  • -_- japan comes up with all the good stuff

  • @SkullyGibs さん

Excuse me but,I truly say this tool(Excel overlay)is too troublesome and difficult to use,so I don't think my work is easy.

    Thanks.

  • @masataka880 I apologize if i made it sound like it was easy, i was only saying that because of the hard work this takes it comes out looking better than you can do with say markers, from my perspective at least.

  • @SkullyGibs さん

    Oh,sorry...please allow me XI

Sometimes I quarrel with visitors for thought about drawing. If I'm grown-up person morally,I'm able to controll myself with my reason. But I'm far from such a person. This is my biggest defect.

Although I'll quit drawing for some time recently,I'm glad that you enjoy watching my drawing videos.Thanks.

  • @masataka880 As long as your doing what you love nothing else should matter.

  • that overlay stuff is cool! when i color my drawings i use colored pencils cuz i dont have anything else but i cant get a solid color from them >.< maybe i just need better pencils

Needless to say it's a common way to color with pencils, pastels, brushes or marker pens.

(I'm afraid my talk may be difficult)as a rule,it's almost impossible to paint or color just like Anime pictures because it's difficult to paint with complete uniformly tone.

But the important thing is the pursuit significance of coloring with pencils, pastels, marker pens.Fundamentally, uniformly coloring has no warmth.Coloring with pencils can express warmth.

  • @masataka880 How long have you been drawing manga/anime for? I am only 12 and have been drawing since about 4 or 5. Also, do you have any tips for correct proportion of the body? I'm having trouble with different poses. Arigatou ^ U ^

  • @Txurniul さん

I've been drawing characters with Manga technique for 10 or 11 years, but there are a lot of blanks among my career, maybe it's substantially 6 or 7 years.

Well, about proportion of body,it will be desirable to make reference to some materials(books) for drawing character's body.Drawing character's body needs to grasp with rough sketch beforehand.

  • Amazing! I really love your traditional approach to the artwork, using tone sheets. xx

  • @Nadyusha さん

Colored screen-tone(OVERLAY) is very very minor style,so it's quite unique style. But it's also truly authentic way as a way of making Manga picture because using screentone is just characteristic of Manga style.

  • @masataka880 Yes! I have learned a lot about traditional way of creating manga, including the right inks, screentone, etc. But now it is not very common that people use this technique. Very nice work! xx

  • @Nadyushaさん

Perhaps nobody can watch Manga/Anime drawing video with colored screentone everywhere, that is to say, this is one of my significance as a Manga drawer indeed.

Anyway, all I have to do is just showing high quality drawing. It's a duty(as a unique drawer)rather than my individual desire. Therefore I must improve my skill in earnest from now on.

    Thanks.

  • i love alleine

  • @ManolisLitsiChania さん

ALLEYNE, a battle instructor ,was designed by illustrator Matsu-ryu.According to Anime Queen's Blade, characters were created or designed by various illustrators.Especially,I'm fond of design by illustrator Akaga.

  • Thanks for sharing your art piece. Excellent! Looking at your work makes me very happy.

  • @Akaliko さん

    You're welcome.

However, recently I'm becoming a unapproachable person because sometimes I quarrel with viewers about drawing or making. One of the factor may be based on my over-estimation.So I must abstain,I'm developing now.

    Thank you for your encouragement.

  • @JohnsonOyeniran さん

Please send me your comment before your one-sided commercial.

Please be careful, that behavior is rudeness.

  • You're a leftie! YAY! XD

  • @LittleSugarFairy さん

    Yes,that's right.

  • eh its just a copy, anyone can copy :/

Although this time I was copying by chance,I usually draw without copying. Those are my own original drawings.

Even so do you think you can draw just like this without digital tools?

  • @masataka880 ehh i dont really want to? digital is much easier/looks better/cheaper in the long run....the tool just looks like a different type of screentone...

First of all, making illustrations without digital is the esthetics of craftsman.I'm afraid that I think...people who can't understand this esthetics or philosophy don't have the right to talk about technique of analogue style.I'm glad that if you would understand craftsman's spirit.

I dont get what you're trying to say at the end...but maybe its cheaper to do this, uh analogue style for you, but for people that live in america its alot harder. do you know how hard it is to find any manga materials here? do you know what they used to fill in traditional anime style? (before digital) with ink and paint. so yes, it can be done without analogue....

Sorry,I don't know about such circumstance because I don't live in America...anyway,I got angry at saying anyone can copy.Copying is not easy and it is underestimation for me.

Fundamentally I always regret my drawing, but I also have a pride because my character is nearly craftsman.

If you ask me some questions about drawing,I answer in earnest. But I don't accept abuse.

  • @masataka880 your character is nearly craftsman? o.O does that mean you THINK it's a masterpiece? XD and yes, copying IS easy. I dont have respect for copyers because anyone can do it...also making a comment on YT is not abuse...its just stating an opinion if you're offended by something so small then you dont belong on the internet, PERIOD. Good day sir. (dont bother replying because If i see its a comment from you its going straight in the garbage)

    It's certain that I don't think a masterpiece.Fundamentally I'm always dissatisfied with my works.

Sorry,to be frank with you,if you want to say copying is easy, you should improve your drawing ability at once.I've never seen a person who can copy truly exactly, let alone beginner.

  • actually i like more this style than the digital something in digital isn`t good and some elements and hardware and software are too expensive like a wacom in this style too but is more easy find chinese ink than a big touch screen and nice drawn keep going

Sry for some translate errors i use google traductor.

  • @MrGamersoul さん

Sorry, somehow it's useless to use automatic translation. So I can't understand these Japanese sentence. Therefore I usually don't depend on automatic translation service...

According to my thought, digital tools can realize almost everything.Illustrator can express almost everything. In other words, though everybody can realize high quality making,it's hard to make a difference in quality between other people. In analogue style, difference of quality is so clear from poor to supreme.

  • @masataka880 XD sorry for the translation, you`re right the original way is the true enjoyment of the soul and mind thx masataka880先生

    You're welcome.

  • omg!this is so awesome!! awesome!! :D

  • @TheCutesherry さん

    You're welcome.

  • your drawing is really great! awsome! but i want to ask you something, what do you find the most important part in a drawing that an somewhat-above-avarage-beginner should pratice to master that would increase his drawings quality? i hope this makes sence (what i am asking is, got any tip on how to get better at drawing..wow i should just said this instead...much shorter..)

According to my experience,I began drawing Manga(Anime)characters since 19 years old(it's late)and got into Manga/Anime college. But I didn't study in earnest at Manga college.

Fundamentally I didn't make much effort to learn drawing for a long time because I was interested in dressing(clothes)from 2002 to 2009.Recently,I make effort to master drawing.

Btw,maybe my how-to video"How to draw Manga/Anime for beginners" will be helpful for improving drawing skill.

I'm glad to receive your comment because this is the first time to receive a comment in Chinese.

  • i am totally jealous! good job!

    You're welcome.

Except for whether my drawing is good or bad,

    in the analogue style,for instance,coloring with COPIC,pastel,brush,

it's impossible to color with complete uniformity tone just like Anime pictures.

The significance of my drawing videos is to show make illustrations with coloring complete uniformity tone like Anime in spite of hand-work.

  • by the way also, where did you purchase those colored screentone things XD i cant seem to find them anywhere

I usually gain "IC EXCEL OVERLAY" at the stationery store "Tools" in Umeda(Osaka)station or make use of DELETER online shopping.I'm afraid that I don't know how to gain it in foreign countries.

Anyway,in analogue making,it's almost impossible to paint(color) with uniformity tone completely. If people make use of PC(digital painting),it's easily possible to paint with uniformity tone like Anime pictures. But if I make use of OVERLAY,it will be possible to express like Anime.

  • I didn't know that there was such a thing as overlay. Thank you very much for the video, sir.

  • @Klebkatt さん

    You're welcome.

It seems like avant-garde style because this style is quite unique, but this is the authentic Manga style because OVERLAY is a kind of screentone.

Well, recently I've joined in facebook,I'm going to send information & associate with foreign people from now on.

    Thanks.

  • This is amaazzing(: ichi-ban ^_^

  • @PersiannRoxxas さん

    You're welcome.

I often challenge the quality of illustrator in spite of analogue style. My series"Drawing like illustrator",those works will be better than this time.

  • your inking is so clean D:

  • @kratosrules13 さん

    You're welcome.

Frankly speaking,I think that..the scene of inking pens or tracing lines by COPIC DRAWING PEN is apt to make some viewers dull.So I often insert explanation about my thought, policy, philosophy when I show the scene of tracing by pens.Anyway,I'm glad to pay attention to the scene of tracing or inking.

  • amazing!!

  • @RockbottomRamzez さん

    You're welcome.

Somehow this video is increasing view-count well, but I have some videos which is the same quality or better than this drawing.

  • what did you use for the line art/inking?

This time, probably I used ink made from PILOT.Please make reference to my video"Introduction of my tools",if you have interest.

  • Pff only 10233 views...You deserve way more sir.

and I love how you interact with all of the people who comment :)

    Please, don't ever stop!

  • @JVHQ さん

OMG,you said "only" 10,233 views, but 10,000 views is top of the views in my many drawing videos! And you said "you deserve more",I really think so.I always think I don't be estimated in Youtube at present and I'm disappointed fundamentally. But,recently foreign people estimate me by degrees. Therefore fundamentally I'm fond of foreign viewers lately.Thanks.

  • @masataka880 no problem mate :), but with only I meant that you could, nah, must get more views.

more people need to see your talent.

  • @JVHQ さん

Well, apart from whether I have a especial talent or not,it's certain that viewers can't watch such technique or tools except for my videos.Thanks.

  • @masataka880 :) you´re welcome mate, keep it up!

you are an amazing artist! Thank you for the videos o(^▽^)o I want to be able to draw like that when I grow up.

    You're welcome.

My style is quite unique style so it may be quite difficult for other people to practice at the same way.But anyway,

whatever way of making, masterpiece or mastered technique is worth admiration.

  • hi! , in first place , sorry for my english is very bad XDD , i live in latinoamerica , argentina

well , o love your drawings , and i want to ask you , how many pencils you have and of what mark of pencils do you use?

No problem,or rather,I suppose your English is very understandable for me.

I have some excellent pencils,Parker,Waterman, but these pencils are for appreciation.I usually use same pencil.

Please make reference to my video"Introduction of my tools" if you don't mind.

  • @masataka880 tanks you very much :3

  • psh! you think you can escape if you disable the ratings, ill just fav it

Why I usually disable the ratings about my some drawing videos is due to I can't know why I was under-estimated.Nobody tell me why he/she estimated me bad(good). Therefore I can't reflect my failure and setting the rating is not useful for me in fact.

Certainly I often escape by hiding the ratings, but I decided to hide the ratings for some individual circumstance.

    Thanks.

  • Now do it without a reference and or change the pose

  • I have used that tool! But never got to practice too much :/

    Great job btw! ^__^

  • @AleKaiLin さん

    Really?

    you've got OVERLAY once?

I don't know how to gain that in foreign countries,so I'm interested in your talk.

  • @masataka880 yeah, my manga teacher in Chile taught me once, such a shame I don´t really remember how to do it anymore :/

And finland doesn´t really have good teachers >_<

  • @AleKaiLin さん

Once I was enrolled in Anime/Manga college, you too?

However I didn't study in earnest in those days because(somehow) I was crazy about clothes or dressing.

I don't know about Finland very much, but I know the level of education is quite high.

    Thanks.

  • @masataka880

It was just once a week for 1 year, I´m too young for college xD (i´m 14)

But my teacher was really good and he knew many tecniques, sadly I couldn´t continue going to classes, but yeah i really want to go to art school when I grow up :)

  • very nice artwork!! if you don't mind i would like to ask you for tips on manga drawing. I'm an amateur in manga drawing. Every time i draw something using pencil, i will leave a lot of erasing traces. Also, the line are not smooth and clean. It makes my drawing look dirty/messy. But I can see from your video that you left no such mess when you draw the girl using pencil. How did you do that? The only solution that i can think of is to not erase anything at all from the beginning..

  • @eizrarin さん

Well, perhaps it's more desirable that you should make reference to my video"How to draw Manga/Anime for beginners" than I write &show here.If you have interest, please check it out.

  • wow screentone looks awesome!! good job

  • @sharingangal さん

Screentone is suitable for picture which tastes Anime because coloring of screentone taste inorganic essentially.

  • What manga is that? o-o

    That is QUEEN'S BLADE ,sir.

  • hi! i really need your help! for years i been trying to buy the best things to color my drawings but i cant buy copic markers cause they are too expensive, i dont want to use colored pencils, and i cant buy sakura koi either..i was wondering where can i find color screen tone?? i been searching for them but i cant find them are they expensive?

  • @TohruNoOnigiri さん

    Hi.

Frankly speaking,I think using screentone(both colored screentone and normal screentone)will spend on much money than using copic,,,because screentone is just expendable supplies. For example,I usually spend on 4000~5000Yen(60~65$?)every month.

And I'm afraid that I don't know how to gain colored screentone in foreign countries.

Maybe details explanation is already shown in this viedo,so would you like to refer to this video?

  • @TohruNoOnigiri that sucks...well thanks i guess i will stick with trying to buy copic markers anyway you have beautiful drawings!!

  • @TohruNoOnigiri さん

Perhaps,to realize such high quality in spite of analogue work is due to tools"overlay".

By the way,I regret this work because coloring of green protector is immature.

    Thanks.

  • @Aoekusatan

  • @Aoekusatan

  • How does the overlay work?

    Great by the way

  • @Kithieri さん

After all, that work is the same as normal(monochrome)screentone fundamentally.

I promise you, perhaps you'll never watch overlay working before or since.

  • What kind of pencil and pencil lead are you using here ?

  • @AicentBlaichezさん

That mechanical-pencil is made from STAEDTLER(Germany) & pencil-lead is 0.5mm HB,made from STAEDTLER.I'm not particular about pencils especially.

Why do you ask me such questions, you are a drawer too?
