TilliWillii, I listen to Metal, rock and stuff like this, but I can still greatly appreciate this kind of music, its just so peaceful, and so beautifully composed.
@kpcart a stupid question on my part. but what is the advantage for say music like thsi using a 7 string versus a 6 string.? i want to learn this, but not many shops carry a 7 string guitar of any kind
@yamahonkawazuki the 7 string is the native Russian instrument, so its more authentic. you can play 6 string too, i play russian guitar music on both.
@yamahonkawazuki i notice you also mentioned you are a watchmaker, my father is a watchmaker (also self taught). This tango is one of my old videos, where i play on a 6 string guitar that i had converted to 7 strings, i had a luthier change the bridge and add a tuning peg for a 7th string (impossible to find a Russian 7 string in Australia). in the last few years, i have managed to get hold of a few russian 7 string guitars, they come up now and then on ebay and other places.
@kpcart yeah. self taught on teh watchmaker part. am going to go take classes so i can tough someones rolex or breitling or the like and not void a warranty. will suck knowing alot of what tehy are teaching. BUT will also be nice to know perhaps better ways of doing things as well. ebay is the place im looking at, my only gripe is i cannto examine the instrument prior to purchase. but if the sellers history is good. im willing to take a chance
hi, im not sure what you mean. but russian guitar is a chordal tuning (G). if playing just chords on this guitar, its typical to see players using left hand thumb (not in this particular piece but).
sounds very nice, and pretty interesting guitar. I understand DGBDBGD tuning must be from high to low, is it? I guess anyway differents fingerings for any tuning you use... And only tune this instrument in G? -nothing else??
its from the highest to lowest. that is the standard tuning for the Russian 7 string guitar. there was a heap of repetoire written for this instrument and tuning in 19th century Russia. the tuning is very standard, some pieces call for the lowest D to be tuned to a C.
oh, thn x my friend for your quick response... I see you have a lot of more videos. All russian music? I should post something folk from here, but im not really into folk... thnx again...
I looked at the original Columbia record of Leschenko and the label says: "Chiornye glaza" - tango. This interpretation has a short instrumental intrusion of romance "Ochi chiornye" in the middle of interpretation. Golubye glaza, tango, is of course something different and also beautiful.
*This video is one of my oldest videos, my playing has greatly improved, so please watch my newer videos!

is the song actually called akh, eti chornye glaza or just chornye glaza i think it might be. there is a similar song called golubye glaza too.
