his drawings look a lot like Dubai..... i think these types of buildings are here now, just not not in concentrated centers.... the key is start with a fresh plot of land to start on... as far as the robotic building part... im not beleiving it. So wherever health is left in the hands of the free market, millions of people die, and infant & adult mortality is high (US). Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US. I'm sure you've already felt the pressure of an over inflated and stagnant economy. You must increase profits while cutting costs by any means necessary to survive. This could include using cheaper lower quality goods. You might be talking down about other businesses regardless if you know anyone who has used their service. These imaginary machines don't exist on market yet because they undermine the established labor and profit society. Great patents are shelved to ensure profits.

I use the "chicken's philosphy": Chicken pecks away in the barnyard and comes to a big rock...pecks and finds it to be a rock, so it move on to the next spot...but the chicken never stops pecking, nor does it remake itself into a sow. I don't sacrifice quality for price, I offer superior customer service, and establish relationships with my customers. I started from nothing, let's see the Venusians do that. Greenland is open, so is Antarctica. Pick an empty spot and have at it, I wont stop you.
Of course the only two places in the world with too little resources to support a civilization without the help of other nations. I've said in the past that the Native Americans had the closest thing to the venus project before they were corrupted. Their biggest problem was they were divided into tribes. For the venus project to work everyone must be willing to help each other and monetary system doesn't allow that. We can't snap our fingers and everyone is taken care of, we all must build it.

There is absolutely nothing stopping believers in this collective "project" from buying an island somewhere and doing this on their own. That it can't be done without taking from existing societies or feeding off them tells me it's no more than another form of communism. Go do it. Don't tell us stories, just go do it. You're wrong on both counts. Most of Antarctica is "uninhabitable", but noone owns it. None have absolutue claim. Not big oil, not anyone. Greenland has plenty of habitable terrain. If the Inuit can live in the Arctic, and the Bedou in the Sahara, Venusians with their vastly superior intellect should be fine there. You want Venus, that's what Obamanomics is. Of course he's only destroying America and our Allies...If you want the entire world, I suggest you start with our enemies.

I've reinvented myself half a dozen times in the last 10 years. I've started from nothing more than once. I've dealt with being undersold by shopping clubs. I work to earn my living. But, OK Venus Project, Take Care of me...Now! Take from everyone else, and give me my share. Where's my "Venus Machine" to pick resources from the ground and give them to me. What part of this "project" as proposed is detailed? All I hear here is sweeping, generalized BS. It sounds like "Yes We Can" to me.
A difference between Capitalism & Socialism is in Capitalism you have opportunity to produce & accomplish as much as your capable. With Socialism everybody is treated equally & ability doesn't matter.

There is enough food for everyone...but It's not up to the enlightened to see that they get it. Let's be equals in Freedoms...not Slavery. I say make men equal that way. We are over populated now so many will starve while climate change will make it increasingly more difficult to grow enough food. We only have the food now because of massive agribusiness and fossil fuels. I agree that technology can solve problems but only if we don't create them at a faster rate than they are solved. The Venus Project is techno anarcho-communism. It has a good intentions but is mislead on the cause of the problems and ways to fix them. It's plans are physically impossible and self contradictory. On one hand he states that there are limited precious resources going to waste, on the other hand he states that we ought to create a world of abundance so high that no one needs to pay for anything meaning you would have to produce things wastefully. How can you reconcile these opposites?

I am fascinated by the ingeniousity and cleverness of his technical solutions and visions of future communities. However, I think there is a missing link that he lefts out purposely. It is the governance structure. Fresco plans to leave all decision making to smart computers, but that dehumanizes not only the work but also the society at large. Fresco's ideas would work perfectly with a humane governance system, without elitism or politics, where humans have a voice and not computers.

his drawings look a lot like Dubai..... i think these types of buildings are here now, just not not in concentrated centers.... the key is start with a fresh plot of land to start on... as far as the robotic building part... im not beleiving it. And with all the new ways of harnessing and recycling energy to meet our daily needs (solar, wind, wave, geothermal,etc) the amount of energy is endless. What we have under capitalism is manufactured scarcity. The market is incapable of providing food, clothes, and shelter for everyone because there is no profit to be made out of such a process.

keeping numbers more stable (i.e. not trippling in one lifetime) would give us more chance to adapt to eachother & for everything else to rebalance.

So wherever health is left in the hands of the free market, millions of people die, and infant & adult mortality is high (US). Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US. Wherever theres a nationalized health care system, mortality is down (Cuba, Canada).

If current trends continue, humans will one day master all planetary resources to the point of ensuring security for everyone for a very long period of time, if not forever. Peak oil is not a threat since we have clean renewable technology (solar, wind, wave, geothermal) which can recycle energy.

Any industrialist can profit by creating devices that save consumers money on energy.
the Monetary system figures out for us that using existing energy store [oil] delivers much higher quality of life than renewables (which we all like) ... *but only while it lasts*

This planet currently has enough resources to feed 40 billion people according to the UN, and with all of the new advancement in renewable resource technology, the level of resources that the planet harnesses is extensively vast. The only reason why people still go hungry these days is because we live in a monetary/capitalist economy where the means of subsistence are produced solely for profit, not for human need.

Communism is the last stage in which we have a purely egalitarian, classless society where every individual can express their full capabilities because all planetary resources are freed up for free acquisition. My argument is that a Resource Based Economy and Communism have lots in common. But there has to be a way to get there, which the VP remains reticent or nebulous in explaining how to do.

Probably the biggest problem is the cost to learn and live. You need to have the money to be eligible for anything. Only the best of the best of gifted students get scholarships that pay more than pocket change. You have to pay for lodging, food, utilities, health insurance, car insurance, home insurance, tuition, loans and taxes. It's easy if you're born with a silver spoon but millions never make it out of the mud. We don't care who we step on as long as we get everything.

I'm sure you've already felt the pressure of an over inflated and stagnant economy. You must increase profits while cutting costs by any means necessary to survive. This could include using cheaper lower quality goods. You might be talking down about other businesses regardless if you know anyone who has used their service. These imaginary machines don't exist on market yet because they undermine the established labor and profit society. Great patents are shelved to ensure profits.

Of course the only two places in the world with too little resources to support a civilization without the help of other nations. I've said in the past that the Native Americans had the closest thing to the venus project before they were corrupted. Their biggest problem was they were divided into tribes. For the venus project to work everyone must be willing to help each other and monetary system doesn't allow that. We can't snap our fingers and everyone is taken care of, we all must build it.

You're wrong on both counts. Most of Antarctica is "uninhabitable", but noone owns it. None have absolutue claim. Not big oil, not anyone. Greenland has plenty of habitable terrain. Tens of thousands of people go to bed hungry while tons of food is tossed out everyday. If hungry kids walk into your store with no money and want food what happens?? So no, the job of selling food would no longer be relevant. Does selling food define you as a person? If you were no longer selling food would your life would be over? Of course not. You could find new and perhaps more fulfilling things to do. Try thinking about it along those lines.

That's an interesting phrase. I will have to look that up. I wonder what starving people would think about that. No free food for you because you will waste it, so it's better for you to starve. Anyway, the idea is to educated people to use resources wisely. Really, at this point what's there to lose. You said that This Great Society would suck based on what proof? It hasn't been tried. I say the one we are in now sucks and the proof about that is obvious and well documented.

There is enough food for everyone...but It's not up to the enlightened to see that they get it. Let's be equals in Freedoms...not Slavery. I say make men equal that way. No system will do that, and dictators wont ever stop starving their people. I work...I eat. Thats the best system in the world and its already in place. Even Freeloaders eat in this country. Stop perpetuating the myth of enlightened social engineering. How many billions died because someone had a "better Idea"?

I work, I eat is the best system in the world? That is just stupid. What about the people that want to work and can't get it or if the money they get isn't enough to feed their family. Are they suppose 2 go hungry. I have heard some dumb things before, but that takes the cake. We are suppose to work to make things better not sit and say it can never be without trying. Thats like saying don't bother tryin to find a cure for a disease because you won't find it. That logic is stupid. PERIOD

Funny you mention finding cures...You can forget about things like "finding cures". That will evaporate with everything else in your soft tyranny. Look around you and wonder at the modern conveniences that the Free Market, and Capitalism have provided for you and thank God those who came before didnt "engineer" your personal existence away. Unlike some, I realize some of our conveniences come from poor countries that work like slaves to produce for us. Nice try to support your argument because I used the word dumb. Would you have felt better if I said silly or weird instead? That is just theoretical, because the wealth is not distributed on the basis of how much we work or what our contribution to society is. Much more important nowadays are the location you live, your family, your skin colour etc. If everyone could succed by hardwork, yes, capitalism would have been a very good system, but that's just not the case.

Tyrant? lol Interesting. J Wilson died in 1798. You took a quote from a man that lived over 200 yrs ago and think that it applies to today's world? Interesting. His understanding at that time would be vastly different in today's world. An engineer of that day couldn't get a job today with the knowledge of that time. Does that make any sense at all to you? Where in my statement do I presume to be superior to anyone. If you think that I believe that I am smarter then anyone because I made a statement saying what a person 200 years ago thought impossible could be possible today, then you my friend are the twit.
