I can inprove this idea infact i created somethign like this back in 2003 I took a bisicle tire rim coated it with plastic on the out side edge where the tire tube is supose to go. then where the spokes of the bisicle tire were i replaced it with a low grade copper wire. Ever notice that the rotor in these "motors" is never connected to an axle? This is because it won't work mounted on an axle. The magnets do NOTHING but hold the rotor upright. Correct. The only reason the center magnet thing spins is because the ring is not stationary, nor is the center magnet thing.

The only reason it spins is because it takes a varying magnetic field to keep the device spinning. That is accomplished by the wobbly hub device and the movement of the ring magnets. If it were all made stationary the device would not work.

There are no aliens involved. The "trick" (to call it that) is that the upper magnetic ring is hand held. Thus it always moves at least a little, and thus its magnetic field moves.

It's not 'virtually free'. This is an incomplete attempt at an AC motor. It won't work without an alternating current to rotate the rotor. The rotor will stop without any other work being done.
