I have the Zi8 and are very satisfied. Many nice features. Weakness? Well i don't like the red pilot lamp in the front, every one stiffens up and is taking notice when i am filming. There is no built in stereo mic. At 720 p the camera is slightly wide angle and becomes a small tele equivalent to 60mm on a 35mm camera.

(Not always a bad thing). I whish it had better light capability olthough it's better than teh competition in it's class. I don't like the USB plugg, i prefer mini USB pluggs.

Does the Zi8 record in stereo? I know that Samsung U10 does. It has a nice microphone across the top of camera. Now the ZI8 does have a jack for an external mic which is nice.

I have the older Kodak Zi6. Manual says it records in Mono but It actually records in 2 channel stereo. The Kodak Zi6 has a microphone that looks tiny but picks up sound well.

But the audio from other videos ive seen on youtube (test shots) really have a nice sound among itself, and i couldnt tell if it was stereo or mono audio.

And i cant understand why some guys actually complain about the audio quality and wanting to plug in an external mic when the integrated mic is unbeliveable good!

Im getting a zi8 for sure. If it runs on mono i dont care, the audio quality is more than good enough for me and everyone

Samsung is alright. Photo's aren't really that good quality though.

The Samsung has a nice Stereo Microphone on top of the camera even though it doesn't have a mic jack. I use the older Kodak Zi6 which doesn't have a mic jack . It records 16bit audio at 48HZ in 2 channel stereo. It picks up sound well for a HD camera that has a tiny microphone.

The ZI6 can't record 1080P HD but I found 720P is good enough. Just shooting in 720P is so much better than shooting HQ videos. I don't really care if I can or cannot shoot in 1080P.

ahh samsung i like a few feature like Time Lapse and 10mp still and stereo audio other than that nothing special.. i picked up zi8 still testing so far so good. got 1080p(which is kinda limited,, firmware bug image is cropped) 720p 30 and 60fps..

Samgsung beats them all, does 1080p and 10mp stills...memory SD cards... who cares about flash or lighting, use your own! Add a nice tripod and bang u r set!

because youtube can't host 60fps; i'm assuming that's what you recorded this clip at, so everything is slowed down to 30 fps, slowing down the time of the video to half speed.

ermm, maybe, but actualy, this would be MORE than 60fps, cuz slower means more frames in a second, so they obviosuly dont understand a thing lol

actually, you don't understand that YOU can't record more than 60 fps with these two equipments, and if it took you 5 seconds to record something in 60fps, and using my logic, if that got stretched out because the system only processed 30 fps, that would double the time to 10 seconds, therefore a 5 second clip would play out to be 10 seconds, slowing down the original 5 second clip in half... if you don't understand that, try watching a 2 hr movie at half speed. see how long that'll take you.

yes i get that, but all a was sayin is if you slow a video down the fps gets higher, anything higer than 60fps wouldnt be real time, at least i dont think lol i aint an expert in this shit

no, they're not slowing the video down to get higher than 60fps... what i'm saying is that the process can't accept 60fps but only 30fps, so it's taking in the first half of the 60fps... therefore the video clip is processed @60fp(2)s, or 30fps; the video is just extended because the time got doubled... it's like you can bake 60 cookies in a day but a kid can only eat 30... it would now take that kid 2 days to eat your 60 cookies you made in a day. if that doesn't help, i give up. hahaha
