I too am very close to reaching partner status here (I got the invite and didn't go out searching for it). An idea in this video was to reduce revenue via watching the videos through devices that couldn't load ads as to hurt revenue so youtube would take to listening to the voices they where blatantly ignoring. Sometimes attackings ones pockets is the only way to get their attention.

If they are not presents and neither will income be and not listening to your source of income and doing wrong by then isn't good business. People aren't mad that youtube became a business. @landewebshow I've been falsely suspended 3 times on this very account and came back with everything in tact. I know the copyright law like the back of my hand and they have no claims to make. As long as the video pertains to the 5 points of the copyright law and is done in a non profit/ no commercial light that does not depict the used content in a negative light then the person in question may use the material as they please and do not need the permission of the owner nor payment to them.

Royalty-free means you don't have to pay. Sometimes, royalty-free still requires a 1-time payment. Please provide specific evidence of big youtubers using content that isn't their own. Nigahiga has had to take down many videos with millions of views because he used music. He still can't un-private them.
@landewebshow Theres royalty free and FREE royalty free music and there is a difference. The first, which is the one you spoke of requires a one time payment and usually involves buying multiple tracks or a CD from the artist while the other one requires no payment what so ever and the copyright law dictates that under the fair use clause act you are not required to have permission or pay anything so long as your in accordance to the law and there is no argument there.

This you can find with ease by doing any search. The partners practically get away with murder in regards to this and one big channel getting a take down notice with no action against their channel doesn't say much in the grand scheme of things.

Youtube just penalizes blindly using an automated system that scans for ID's to videos and often gets its stuff wrong leading to video tampering, take downs, and false DMCA claims. Youtube doesn't even check the videos. It's all automated and timed based even when restoring suspended accounts and dealing with DMCA claims. It's so broken and wrong that anyone can take down a video (another issue youtube ignores)

You know whats great. The Ads on my videos load 25 times faster then the actual video. Yeah, my Xfinity Ads about how great they are and can look at Youtube videos on a TV can load in 1/2 a second. Yet the video has the nice loading circle on it, makes me feel great!
Because of this I just got adblocker, I'm taking a stand against YouTube/Google. Especially now with those HORRIBLE new homepages. They're taking advantage of us and I'm tired of it. Great vid btw. You need a 2011 version now :)

@KazReckards You missed a minor point at the start of the video. My harsh response wasn't addressed towards people who liked the beta. I even stated that its ok to like it. I attacked the people who had a problem with folks who enjoyed the old layouts. I just changed my browser to firefox and I get the old layout. I tried them both side by side and i get new layout on I Explorer and old layout on Firefox. Dunno if this is just my PC or what. Anyone else get this?

Ummm... youtube is a business. They make money off ads. If you want youtube to die, then go ahead and try to kill all their ads. Would you like it if someone attacked the way your business made money? They need the money to support all the visitors to the site they get every day. Do you want youtube to end?
You should view the video again. I don't want to kill youtube or see its end. Targetting their wallets is the only way youtube will ever listen to its users that constantly attempt to speak with the sites staff. Even when false copyright claims are made (which is done often here and is not legal) youtube will only listen to the affected party via a counter claim, because not attending to those could lose them money. Aiming at their wallets is the only way to be civil with youtube.
Youtube also was making pleanty of money before the ads and the only reason the ads are here in the first place is to advertise to US, the users. If we all left do you think advertisers would stay? No. Ads aren't the life blood of this site, its users are and they should at least have some remote say in regards to their content on this site. Part of it belongs to the users and the site makes money off of us so its only something called fair.
How was youtube making money before the ads? Here's something about the advertisers: They use something called adwords (by google) to make their ads. Google puts these ads WHEREVER they want. The advertisers can't decide. Strategically, google puts ads near relevant websites/videos. The advertisers can't leave. Youtube decides where the ads go, not the advertisers. I hope you understand this. If you want, you can look up adwords and adsense on google/yahoo.
And finally your example doesn't apply to this subject and youtubes business practices. Would you like it if I went to your house, told you I was going to change everything with no option or room for discussion and did it anyways against your will even though you and the majority spoke against such an action? To boot my forced change actually makes your house look worse. Do you think thats fair?
Youtube doesn't care if its fair. It's their site and they can do what they want with it. Maybe they had a good reason to. They have the right to do whatever they want. And if you think about it, the new channels aren't THAT bad. Just live with it.

There has to be some degree of choice. The users have a right. Wouldn't you like some input in regards to your stuff here? The new channels are bad. There are less options, being viewed is actually harder since you can no longer embed 2 extra videos on your channels and the chances of independent channels being seen was reduced again by the beta. I don't mind people disagreeing with me as long as they're civil about the issue, so your welcome.

All the youtube celebrities I know of are youtube partners and they are the ones who make money from the ads. As far as I know the only browser that can block out the ads is FireFox. Plus google has to pay Firefox to put its search bar on its front page so by using FireFox and changing the front page you personally cause google to waste advertising money since they would literally be paying for something that your not seeing and the ad blocker is an extra kick to their wallets.
Well you have to surf the web with Firefox (with the ad blocker already installed) and change the home page of Firefox to your desired website. Then you would be causing google to loose the ad money for the search bar and the ad blocker would remove ads placed on here and all around the web so its like killing 2 birds with one stone, but it can only be done with FireFox.

Correct. See google must pay for their stuff to appear on any browser regardless of whether you use it or not, so changing it only screws them over. Personally its no big deal, but in masses it can gain attention. That's why I've been trying to spread the word about the ad blocker. If used in masses it could really put a dent in youtubes wallet and I believe that they would rather listen to us users then loose money.
That option of reversal has been removed. Sadly the majority of channels have been down graded to beta and theres nothing we can do to change it at the moment.
I'm not sure about IE6 but IE7 and IE8 have an equivalent but seems kind of lacking feature to Ad-Block Plus and that is "Security Zones". On the bottom of the IE window you will see a globe with Internet at its side. Double-click that. This brings up security zones. The restricted sites zone is where you put the ad sites. I use Ad-Block Plus in combination with IE's security zones and get similar results.

I honestly think its due to the peoples collected complaints to youtube in massive numbers. Youtube was about to force an extremely glitchy lay out on the users and they let youtube have it and BIG TIME. lol. How do I know when Ad blocker plus is working... I have managed to download Mozilla and im using it for my internet browsing & when I sign into *GoogleTube* so can I tell when it's working ???
have you downloaded ad blocker plus on firefox? You must have both in order to have everything working. You'll know it works when you go online and you don't see ads on websites, because the blocker removes them. You will also not see ads on partner videos either or ads attached to the right hand side of the site. You basically know its working when you don't see ads.
Yeah im pretty sure I downloaded ad blocker ...that lil square that says "block" up above the right hand side of the video ....what is that?? and do I click on it to block the ads ????
A little box? I've never seen that. Right before you finish installing the blocker it will ask for a filter setting (your country location, and filter level) once you set that you should be on your way. If it asks you if you want to block more stuff (ads) then by all means go for it since it can only do good in the end. Heres a good way to test it as well. Go to the front page of youtube and if you see no ads then you know its working since the front page has a lot of them.

I believe only apples come with FireFox already installed, but it can work just fine on PC and Apple. It doesn't come on PC's so you have to download and install it.

@KazReckards You missed a minor point at the start of the video. My harsh response wasn't addressed towards people who liked the beta. I even stated that its ok to like it. I attacked the people who had a problem with folks who enjoyed the old layouts. This is a follow up video to another one I did and in that video you can see some people just randomly attacking me and others for having a different opinion for no reasons so thats why I said what I said and I still stand by it.

I just changed my browser to firefox and I get the old layout. I tried them both side by side and i get new layout on I Explorer and old layout on Firefox. Dunno if this is just my PC or what. Anyone else get this?

Ummm... youtube is a business. They make money off ads. If you want youtube to die, then go ahead and try to kill all their ads. Would you like it if someone attacked the way your business made money? They need the money to support all the visitors to the site they get every day. Do you want youtube to end?

You should view the video again. I don't want to kill youtube or see its end. Targetting their wallets is the only way youtube will ever listen to its users that constantly attempt to speak with the sites staff. Even when false copyright claims are made (which is done often here and is not legal) youtube will only listen to the affected party via a counter claim, because not attending to those could lose them money. Aiming at their wallets is the only way to be civil with youtube.

Youtube also was making pleanty of money before the ads and the only reason the ads are here in the first place is to advertise to US, the users. If we all left do you think advertisers would stay? No. Ads aren't the life blood of this site, its users are and they should at least have some remote say in regards to their content on this site. Part of it belongs to the users and the site makes money off of us so its only something called fair.

How was youtube making money before the ads? Here's something about the advertisers: They use something called adwords (by google) to make their ads. Google puts these ads WHEREVER they want. The advertisers can't decide. Strategically, google puts ads near relevant websites/videos. The advertisers can't leave. Youtube decides where the ads go, not the advertisers. I hope you understand this. If you want, you can look up adwords and adsense on google/yahoo.

Youtube doesn't care if its fair. It's their site and they can do what they want with it. Maybe they had a good reason to. They have the right to do whatever they want. And if you think about it, the new channels aren't THAT bad. Just live with it.

There has to be some degree of choice. The users have a right. Wouldn't you like some input in regards to your stuff here? The new channels are bad. There are less options, being viewed is actually harder since you can no longer embed 2 extra videos on your channels and the chances of independent channels being seen was reduced again by the beta. I don't mind people disagreeing with me as long as they're civil about the issue, so your welcome.

That's what I think, but you obviously don't want to live with it and you want youtube to give us a choice. I just don't care enough to fight youtube. It's easier for me to just accept it. All the youtube celebrities I know of are youtube partners and they are the ones who make money from the ads. Google puts the ads next to their videos, and they somehow split the profit, so that google and the partners make money.

As far as I know the only browser that can block out the ads is FireFox. Plus google has to pay Firefox to put its search bar on its front page so by using FireFox and changing the front page you personally cause google to waste advertising money since they would literally be paying for something that your not seeing and the ad blocker is an extra kick to their wallets.

Well you have to surf the web with Firefox (with the ad blocker already installed) and change the home page of Firefox to your desired website. Then you would be causing google to loose the ad money for the search bar and the ad blocker would remove ads placed on here and all around the web so its like killing 2 birds with one stone, but it can only be done with FireFox.

Correct. See google must pay for their stuff to appear on any browser regardless of whether you use it or not, so changing it only screws them over. Personally its no big deal, but in masses it can gain attention. That's why I've been trying to spread the word about the ad blocker. If used in masses it could really put a dent in youtubes wallet and I believe that they would rather listen to us users then loose money.

That option of reversal has been removed. Sadly the majority of channels have been down graded to beta and theres nothing we can do to change it at the moment.

I'm not sure about IE6 but IE7 and IE8 have an equivalent but seems kind of lacking feature to Ad-Block Plus and that is "Security Zones". On the bottom of the IE window you will see a globe with Internet at its side. Double-click that. This brings up security zones. The restricted sites zone is where you put the ad sites. I use Ad-Block Plus in combination with IE's security zones and get similar results.

I honestly think its due to the peoples collected complaints to youtube in massive numbers. Youtube was about to force an extremely glitchy lay out on the users and they let youtube have it and BIG TIME. lol. Its still going to be forced, but at least the efforts of the people made the beta a bit better so thats a plus. Thanks!

have you downloaded ad blocker plus on firefox? You must have both in order to have everything working. You'll know it works when you go online and you don't see ads on websites, because the blocker removes them. You will also not see ads on partner videos either or ads attached to the right hand side of the site. You basically know its working when you don't see ads.

A little box? I've never seen that. Right before you finish installing the blocker it will ask for a filter setting (your country location, and filter level) once you set that you should be on your way. If it asks you if you want to block more stuff (ads) then by all means go for it since it can only do good in the end. Heres a good way to test it as well. Go to the front page of youtube and if you see no ads then you know its working since the front page has a lot of them.

I believe only apples come with FireFox already installed, but it can work just fine on PC and Apple. It doesn't come on PC's so you have to download and install it.
