Dragon Age: Origins, is nothing like Baldur's Gate in the least! It may have a few RPG elements similar to Baldur's Gate, but it's nothing like BG really..

@fatface haven't tried dragon age, but not really motivated to since baulder's gate was one of my favorite games of all times, and every game bioware has released since has never been close imho. The only game i've played since BG1 that even felt remotely close in scope and open world and fun was oblivion.

That's exactly how I feel! Every game since the BG1 and BG2 games I've tried, just cannot compare. There's something magical about them for sure. The story and music, even the gameplay is simple and easy once you get into it! It's totally awesome.

I know this comment's so old that people doing each other when you wrote it 9 months ago are having babies now, but I've gotta say, you are 100% correct. You simply can't beat that atmosphere. I've spent probably upwards of 50 hours of my life (and I may be grossly under-exaggerating) simply walking through the world with this music playing in the background. Heck, I even have it on my iPod now and I listen to it while I'm walking through the real world. This music has become part of my soul.

Planecape is definitely worth buying. It's even superior to BG in some ways: atmosphere, script, story.

Well KOTOR 2 would have been better than KOTOR 1, except LucasArts was being impatient and didn't let Obsidian take their time to finish the game. But at least we have people making the completed version. I've downloaded some of the content they restored and I must say that KOTOR 2 would have been the best RPG if it was finished.

Ahhh, Baldur's Gate... I'm surfin' through a lot great game music videos right now (KOTOR 1 & 2, Medal of Honor, Baldur's Gate...) and it just makes me quite melancholic... Baldur's Gate was a great experience for me, far more than I expected when sitting down to "just another game" - y'know, it's just not "yet another game" at all.

a party of 6 is much more of a challenge. if you solo you might as well be playing a first person shooter. Imoen's not too bad if you don't have a thief in the party, dual her at level 9. A lot of the missions involve the NPCs in SoA, but I take it you don't like them?
