I'm writing a novel now too. I've been working on it since I was 14. I'm going to be 20 soon; and I hope (as a long-term goal) that I have a literary agent by 23 and get published by 25! .-)
You should have made an incredibly long video of you reading the door...just sitting there...staring at a piece of paper...never mind. That would be too boring to watch. Well maybe it's a short contract. But probably not.
I DO THAT WITH MY STORIES AS WELL SO MUCH PAPERS!!!!!! lmao hey, that s what makes a good story you have to go through many dfarfts and some peer edits -for some people- before they think about ever publishing their work :)
I am so reading that book. It sounds really good. *I looked it up.* Have I subscribed yet? Hmm, I'll have to.
I love writing. My dad says that you have the spirit of a writer when you have an idea and you just have to write it or it won't go away. Just like you, apparently. I usually don't keep my writing, cause I don't like it, but I guess I should start...
Ah! How can you not keep writing!? I keep all my terrible, unfinished stories! I have some from 5th grade, a journal halfway filled with short stories! The one that I remember most is "Guidance of the Arctic Wolves".
lol i got a huge idea for a book wen i was watching this... lol strange.... fate works in funny ways.... luv Bran Hambric Kaleb... i was honestly one ofthe best birthday gifts i could have gotten
dude i know what thats like, in 2002 after seeing lord of the rings i came up with an idea, over the course of 7 years i come up with the plotline, characters, creatures, magic, places.
i think the first thing i come up with was the main character, after a science project on the Orion's belt, i thought, Orion, good name, so i stuck with it, then another idea hit me last week, i thought descendant Rion, good name, i mean its tough to write it, but its awesome to finish it.
Writing is something that EVERYONE is capable of. If there is a book that you are wanting to read, and it hasn't been written yet, write it yourself. Remember, a book is not pages full of words....it's pages full of dreams. Ask Kaleb, writing is NOT easy! Get ready for some tough work! But it'll be fun. Don't write to get published, write to have fun. "If you are writing to have written a book, give up. The greatest part of writing, is the writing part" -Stephenie Meyer!
Thanks so much for making videos about your journey to become an author. It really inspires me to finish of the rest of the novel I'm writing and I really appreciate the videos. I suppose I'm living my dream through you because what you're doing now is something that I have wanted for the longest time.
Anyways thanks and keep making videos! Last night I finished a chapter with breaks watching all the Bran Videos! :)
I'm a young writer, 13, I have written 4 books already and hopefully one day (aiming for 19) I will have my books published...and no my mind doesn't operate like a normal 13 year old...how many of you loved Erich von Daniken and dream about the Aztecs?
I've said this before, many times, but I only have four heroes when it comes to writing; JK Rowling, Stephenie Meyer, Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, and you, Kaleb. You've inspired me to follow my dreams and write my first book. Thank you for everything, Kaleb!
This is sure inspiring to all of us "aspiring writers" out there! "If Kaleb can do it, then surely we can!" :P Totally kidding. Congrats on the pre-ordering craziness by the way. Very nice. ^^

Most 11 year olds can but it won't be extremely good. Develop as a writer first and work on your craft as much as you can. Also, never throw away what you write. It's the bridge you can use to get back into childhood when you're 20!
I'm only 14, and I have been writing since 6th grade (I WAS SO HORRIBLE BACK THEN ;D) but I have all my stories that I've ever started typing saved on my laptop. Even if I don't rewrite them it's fun to look back at my old ideas.
This is Gothhic Goddess- I wanted to say how very happy I am for you! I actually have some tears in my eyes for you. You have worked very hard for this, and it touches me to see your dreams coming true. Congrats!
Bran Hambric was found locked in a bank vault at six years old, with no memory of his past. For years, he has lived with one of the bankers, wondering why he was left behind- until one night, when he is fourteen, he is suddenly confronted by a maddened creature, speaking of Brans true past and trying to kidnap him.
So out of shear curiosity, did you have an agent when you were trying to get your book published, or did you go about getting it published on your own??
That was very interesting! Kaleb, your parents must be so proud! I especially loved the part about Shambles because reading the first few chapters, he's already my favorite character.
There should be more teenagers, like you were, writing books and posting videos of their success. Im 14 and writing a pirate story and would have given up ages ago if not for inspirations like you. My parents just say go be a
teenager and im sick of them atronising me. I'll prove them wrong. Keep up the good work!
YAY Kaleb!!!! I agree, I'm also writing a book right now although I just started it last september and am only 4 chapters in I cannot wait until that joyous day comes when I can go into a bookstore and see my book siting on a bookshelf. Im prolly gonna be one of those writers that move w/e book is in the window and make it mine *shifts eyes back and forth* well maybe lol Congrats and cant wait to buy and read it!!!!!
ILuvRobPattinson on this one... I can't believe the amount of drafts you've done for this book! :O Boxes full! I'm yet to get quite that far, although I honestly can't wait til I do.
Well done seriously on signing your first book deal! :) I can't wait until my turn comes!
Hey, how did you find a publishing company? I keep looking, and can never find anything. They're all either print-on-demand, historical fiction or nonfiction only, or those "none without an agent" ones.
Now I feel bad. Not because of you but just seeing how much you've put into your book makes my work seem like a grain of sand. Of course I haven't faced revision yet. But I think I needed to see this. Thank you. Best of luck in your sales!
that's amazing! good luck for your book, and I'm hoping that it will be in Amazon so I can be able to buy it! it seems like a pretty cool story. I was on your website and I absolutely loved the soundtrack!
Oh, you gave me the light that I needed. I was writing a story too, but suddenly I stopped writing. I'll get back to it and try to finish it.
Darn, dude. You've earned some of my respect. I really enjoyed watching this video, and looking at all the work you've had to put through on creating your own story. The plot doesn't sound bad at all, and I might look forward into reading your book when it comes out. Good luck in the future!
I'm an aspiring author myself, I've had the same idea spiraling around in my brain for like three years, and I'm currently blocked at about 34000 words in....This semester I haven't had much time to work on it and I just felt like I completely lost where the story was going; but it was so awesome to see you have the thoughts and feelings I hope to have one of these days that I feel inspired. Congratulations! Can't wait to see it on the shelves. :D (and thanks)
Oh no! The same glaring mistake yet again -- and twice this time!
I feel so sorry for you. Here, let me help. I've blocked your comments so that you don't make a fool of yourself again. I understand how embarrassing it must be, not able to write a decent sentence above 3rd grade level intelligence.
yeah i could never be a writer cause i dont have the patience for it i have all these cool ideas (well i think they are cool) but i stop about an hour after i start. I love your vids they are awesome and i will buy your book when i comes out
I will promote your book with my 7th graders---know they will LOVE it! Give yourself a BIG treat and WATCH by "Lisyaoran23" the book trailer called "The Changed"--written by a gifted and talented 14 year old girl--btw, I'm her teacher and editor!
wow, that's all i have to say, you probaly get this alot but i am writing a book also (more like 7) well trying away, lol and i'm 11, yes 11 and i'm trying to get a book published =P wish me luck, and btw i love your vids
Bed is where I get most of the ideas for my stories. I type and write my stories. I'm working on my some originals now. I hope I can get this one published someday but I doubt it'll happen. Congrats. I'll be looking. I got a poem published but I want my story published too. I don't think I' very good though. It's a vampire story and it's just kind of weird.
hmm ... My story isn't in notebooks...it's all written on looseleaf paper. Actually, at the moment one copy is on my computer, one on my flash drive (oh God, actually, my flash drive has, like, five different copies of my story...), one is sitting in a drawer in my bedroom, covered in proofreading and editing marks, one is in ANOTHER drawer in my bedroom, also covered in stuff, and one is on the floor next to my bed waiting for its proofreading and editing marks.
i woke up with a sentence in my head the other morning and i felt the exact same way you did. it's something that's going to change me. i'm totally subscribing!
This video is going to keep me from throwing myself into the abyss. Just knowing that those dozens of notebooks and hundreds of sheets of paper actually can lead to a book deal. Good luck, Kaleb! It's really incredible to see all the work put into the book before seeing the finished product, and I already can't wait to read The Farfield Curse! Kudos! - Glenna
I needed to see something like this. Even though you're a stranger, seeing your success is so encouraging to me. Thank you for adding to my already feverish passion to get where you are with my own writing.
Who is the publisher who sent the contract? I hope they are paying a good %, sound like you worked real hard. I hope things work out for you, wish you the best!
wow ur awsoem!! any one who writes books,, is awsome,, probly would make u my idol if i had never heard of, oh whats her name,, somthing Ling,, chinese 12 year old who wrote a book series,
I'm 13, and I have this one story in my head that I created from different ideas I had when I was younger. Most were happy stories, but one idea I had wasn't so happy and stuck to me. It became the prequel to the ultimate story idea I came up with.
I'll buy your book when it comes out. :) I promise.
Hey there. I'm fourteen and havent got that killer idea yet (or have I) but I've been writing for as long as i remember. This video makes me feel hope
Did you know, you've inspired me? Writing is my life...it's the one thing that I know has to happen to me, the only thing I can ever see myself doing. So seeing you, with this book deal in your hand...it feels like it could really happen, you know? Thank you for this, Kaleb dahling!
Congratulations!!! I'm writing a novel too. I had the exact same feeling that you did. I knew I had to write it, becasue I have always been gifted with the ability to write. It's amazing seeing someone that has gone through the EXACT same thing I am going through right now.
What age were you when you thought of that? lmao... im like 13 and have had hundereds of ideas for storys...and if i didnt have a computer, i would have lots and lots and lots of pages and boxes and boxes with drafts in them... and i only started writing... about 8 months ago... lmao!
This is inspiring... I'm still in the "ideas" stage of my story, where everything just kind of gets reviewed, whether it can fit into my book... I feel like I'm interviewing the world, lol. But yeah... I hope to start writing soon. This was great to watch, it felt really relevant and exciting.
Congrats! Is there an excerpt posted on your TwilightGuy Web page, or another web page, or is the company not allowing you to post anything especially now that you've signed? It sounds interesting. :D
it's crazy that what you're describing is what my closet is full of! notebooks upon notebooks, and i have a sort of mini-library/collection of notebooks growing in my walk-in. and yes, since a young age (I as well!)
Was it planned that since your book came to you on 3/3/3 that u get it pulished by 9/9/9?

Oh no! The same glaring mistake yet again -- and twice this time!
I feel so sorry for you. Here, let me help. I've blocked your comments so that you don't make a fool of yourself again. I understand how embarrassing it must be, not able to write a decent sentence above 3rd grade level intelligence.
kalebnation 3 years ago
LOL!
Trust Kaleb XD
RawrrxProductions 3 years ago
Hello sir,
I just want to help you a bit, so you do not continue to embarrass yourself. See, you said
'your gay'
In this case, the word 'your' is possessive, and incorrect, as no one can own an item called a 'gay' to my knowledge. What I'm assuming you meant was
'you're gay'
as in combining the words 'you' and 'are'.
I hope this spelling advice helps you in the future. We wouldn't want you to be making an absolute and utter fool of yourself.

HaHaHa! You are soo funny. That was too good.If you notice the mean people are usually the ones that are jealous.

Bed is where I get most of the ideas for my stories. I type and write my stories. I'm working on my some originals now. I hope I can get this one published someday but I doubt it'll happen. Congrats. I'll be looking. I got a poem published but I want my story published too. I don't think I' very good though. It's a vampire story and it's just kind of weird.
marissajfox 3 years ago
*sigh*

This video is going to keep me from throwing myself into the abyss. Just knowing that those dozens of notebooks and hundreds of sheets of paper actually can lead to a book deal. Good luck, Kaleb! It's really incredible to see all the work put into the book before seeing the finished product, and I already can't wait to read The Farfield Curse! Kudos! - Glenna

I'm 13, and I have this one story in my head that I created from different ideas I had when I was younger. Most were happy stories, but one idea I had wasn't so happy and stuck to me. It became the prequel to the ultimate story idea I came up with.
I'll buy your book when it comes out. :) I promise.

This is inspiring... I'm still in the "ideas" stage of my story, where everything just kind of gets reviewed, whether it can fit into my book... I feel like I'm interviewing the world, lol. But yeah... I hope to start writing soon. This was great to watch, it felt really relevant and exciting.
I'd love to read your book one day.
