  • I'm either to old or too young to see the humour in this excerpt. Convinces me that comedy is truly subjective.

In the days when the daily newspaper was a major cultural resource, I would surprise myself reading the daily funnies. Day after day . . . every strip anticipated and savoured. Loud, healthy belly laughs. I loved the funnies! Then without warning, one day the entire two pages of funnies would fall flat. Not funny fall flat, just fall flat.

    Very subjective, I think.

  • that was sooo funny,.....ahhh, i have SUCH a big crush on laurel......

  • We'll never see their like again, unfortunately. Stan was born Arthur Stanley Jefferson in Ulverston: then Lancashire, now Cumbria and I've been to see the house where he was born. It has a brass plaque on the wall. I've heard tell that he was the original 'little tramp' - later made famous by Chaplin - when working for Fred Carno's circus. The guy was a genius.

  • hahahahahahaha....thanks

  • Pretty sure God directed and produced Laurel and Hardy films.

    SUCK IT HAL ROACH! (r.i.p.)

  • Aaahhh, The good old days...

  • POLICE BRUTALITY AT 2,00

  • Dear Lord Jesus,

I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave to give me life. I know You are the only way to God. So now I want to quit disobeying You and start living for You. Please forgive me, change my life and show me how to know You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

  • @bass109 I'M CONFUSED BY YOUR COMMENT, BUT I'M JUST THINKING THAT IF YOU OBEY INSTEAD OF DISOBEY THEN WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR OWN FREE WILL AND THE CHOICES WE MAKE

ANYWAY I THOUGHT THIS VIDEO WAS ABOUT COMEDY AND NOT RELIGION , GOD BLESS YOU THOUGH

  • @MYBIGKINDHEART God bless you too, Make Jesus part of your life. call out to Jesus everyday, Jesus love you!

  • @bass109 i dont know why you find it necessary to try and save souls ...this is a comedy vid man....cant you take that stuff somewhere else?

  • soooooooo good old but still funny!

  • Look at the tiny 1920s non-genetically-modified apples!

  • It's actually called "Hoosegow", without "The". This early talkie was produced before the days of regular underscoring. Hence, there are a lot of moments with virtually no sound -- certainly no music, which became the standard habit a little later.

  • IRRIPETIBILI!!!!!!!

  • This clip needs to be two minutes longer. The part where the prison guard throws one of the apples over the wall...

I came to youtube to search for that part. The escape scene is amazing.

  • simply good stuff, pure brilliance! they always make me laugh XD

  • No words can describe fully how amazing and ahead of their time Stan n Ollie were

  • Where the fuck did the apple go?!?!?

  • hahahahahahhhaha so funny!!!!!!!!!! :D :D one of the funniest things in L&H

  • hahahahahaaghhaha so funny!!!!!!!!!! :D :D one opf the funniest things in L&H

  • Its THE single funniest piece of film EVER - PERIOD. Just gotta love it!!!!

  • Fab have not watched laurel this duo in over 30yrs best ever LOL

  • the noises the he makes in the films make the scenes even funnier they just crack me up....XDDD

  • ♥ .

  • That made me laugh.

  • This is one of, if not the, funniest thing I ever watched. It breaks me into a belly laugh every time.

    What geniuses, unrepeatable, pure gold!

  • :D hahaha one of my fave Laurel and Hardy moments, gets me everytime too. Hope it made you giggle ;) xxx

  • i can tell you this back them days they had nothing like our days xD

  • They didn't need rude stuff and foul mouths to make people laugh...just pure comic talent :D and thats why so many people love them, they were funny xxx

  • Aww bless! I also agree with Maglahee, we DO seem to desire tragedy with our comedy! lol I want to give him a hug sometimes too. Thanks for posting! Brilliant vid (again lol)

    xx

  • Yeah, it makes it more funny to be honest, something can't be all laughs and smiles. Stans crying is a big part of their appeal, as is ollies twitching, tie twiddle and cheeky shy laugh :D Thanks Torres x

  • Gotta laugh at Stan's clumsy maneuver, but he sure is the sympathetic type isn't he? I mean, it's a heartbreaker seeing what he goes through. Yet somehow this makes the scene all the more funny, as if we desire a little tragedy with our comedy, something these two guys were top-notch at delivering.

  • yes I agree, sometimes I want to reach out and cuddle him (lol I know I can't)- but 'Laughing Gravy' when they fell out with eachother nearly had me in tears, my lip was quivvering hahaha. Yet I think the his personality and whimpering only makes L&H more special, unique and hilarious. Thanks for checking it out xxx
