Coincidences are just...coincidences. We come into contact with so much external stimuli on a daily basis that its hardly surprising that coincidences occasionally occur. There's no under-current force that makes coincidences non-coincidental. I fail to grasp the concept of this video fuckdammit!

This video doesn't make any fucking sense to me. How can the world be holistic with everything inter-related? Science would suggest that the complete opposite is true. Sure, the world functions according to cause and effect so that many things are indeed inter-related, but to suggest that everything is inter-related just seems bizarre. If I take a rocket ship into outer-space, do I magically lose my "inter-relatedness" with the rest of the world?

Then again, I probably misunderstood this vid.

opinion on coinsidence: description for a feeling that is meant for preservation of a healthy mind state, patching the view onto the connections with the subconcious, just one of the self defence mechanisms we have, this one is psychological.

People like to think of coincidence as two simultaneous events that are mysteriously connected, and implicit in this is that they can divine the nature of that connection. Paradox anyone?

Simultaneous events may well be connected, but it's ridiculous to pretend we know why.

And if all events are connected, which is unavoidable if you think that any are, it would mean that any connection between two events is effectively irrelevant.

Understanding coincedence is tricky. Can one read into them so readily? Personally, I believe that some natural forces are at play during our everyday life. When I see them, these signs, George Michael springs to my head and I hear "cause you gotta have faith." And I do, cause if its meant to be, it will happen. Perceiving "coincedence" can be mind blowing and mystical when connecting those proverbial life dots.

Like tree month ago I was studying Hebrew for the first time. I went to a Hindu temple and have a question and took one book to find the answer and said to my self I will look for the answer in any part of this book and I will reading it from right to left. Since Hebrew is read it that way. When I open the book the text said (and this was read from right to left) "beginning from right to left". How about that for a coincidence. I also want to find a job in the boat industry in PR. Peace.

A better title for this video would be "What is the DEFINITION of coincidence?". :)

A coincidence is simply when 2 or more events seem to have a causal relationship. For example, you flip a light switch and a car horn sounds outside. You press the power button on a television, and it turns on. One of these events has a direct causal relationship - the other does not. This doesn't mean there is no connection.. just not a direct, causal one. This video argues against CHANCE, not coincidence.

Yes, but your example doesn't seem to convey that coincidence (to coincide with) has the same meaning as the word correlation. Science is built on coincidence NOT causation. Causation is never observed as it is a temporally spread concept. Any inclusion of causation in a scientific theory reduces that theory back to hypothesis. YOU DO NOT OBSERVE OVER TIME, ONLY NOW. Observing memory is only observing memory, not that which you attribute memory to represent.

Although I'm not a kabbalist, I have to say this; whether or not you're uneasy has no real bearing - the definition of science is actually open to Kabbalah if you grab a dictionary and look up science. As long as it's a body of knowledge with facts that are systematically arranged, and gained through observation or experience then it's claims as science are just.

Now, to confirm or refute it, you'd have to actually lower your gut defenses and approach it with the scientific spirit of discovery.

@SynapseSnap Being uneasy or not is not the whole of the science. You are correct in saying you would have to approach it with the scientific spirit of discovery. My question to you is what other Sciences exist in figuring out how humans relate their creator? With science there is no investment of being right or wrong hence it nullifies the "ego" in the equation. So that being said "knowledge with facts that are systematically arranged, and gained through observation" would be considered laws.
