Well the hit was clean, he used his shoulder and upper arm, not the elbow. Hitting has always been a part of the game and Bell was just doing his job: finishing his checks. That's what he was hired and paid for. It may not be nice, but hockey involves contact. Yes people get hurt, but the injuries are far worse in Football, and you don't hear people saying that we should take the hitting out of that sport. Alfredsson deserved what he got, especially since he doesn't respect the "moral contract".

There was a time when "playing spoiler" meant just winning the game and knocking a team down a spot or two in the standings. Now it seem to mean injuring key players in order to screw up playoff bound teams.

So what do you want Bell to do in that situation, hes a scrappy player and had Alfie lined up for a big hit. A player like Bell and Neil and Tucker are payed for finishing their checks. If you look where on Bell's arm he hit him, it was right on the 9 where you are supposed to hit from.

Fans were cheering more because of Tucker and Heatley were almost fighting, not because Alfie was on the floor.
