The Dominican seems pretty, but unlike Quintana Roo, where I once went, it is apparently very unsafe to travel into the towns, such as actual Punta Cana (my friends said they would never take more than $20 CAN and wear no jewelry)... did you guys find this so?

We went into Las Galeras (Samana Area) on a regular basis, even to a Cock Fight. It was great and like going to any other town/city, except that unfortunately for us, we didn't know Spanish. I would guess that like any city/town, there are certain areas that one should not go into. Even our city is like that.

If it is so, it should be public. In Venezuela there is no private beach. We can go through every beach we want without paying, beaches are public places.

Joe was at the Bavaro Princess in December and the beach was busy. Many resorts all congested in that area. We were at the Barcelo Bavaro Casino. I didn't find the beach that bad. There were spots that had more people than others, but we could also walk to beach that was completely without people. I liked that best. just got back today, had an amazing time, the weather is very very hot bring lots of factor 40, little rain but during night the odd rumble of thunder but by morning its hot and sunny again. Bavaro beach in Punta Cana is really lovely. Some tips for you, bring plenty of toiletries and sun lotion as its a fortune there $33 for small sun lotion, toothpaste $5 etc everything in hotel shops is mega money bar of chocolate is $6 rediculous prices.

P.S if you do any day trips make sure Saona Island is the one you do, forget catalina island Saona is much more amazing, u go by speed boat like miami vice to the island, stop off at the most amazing shallow waters pure torquoise to swim with starfish, then onto a private beach 4 BBQ, deffo bring the camera, then back by Cateraman, fantastic day out, i booked with RUTAS Tours thru hotel $90. Guide was Papa Tito - great guy. Safari tour or jeeps is good too, Santo Domingo was boring. Enjoy x
