  • THE fuck off TV theme tune-just edges The Sweeney. That is all.

  • Wasn't Cowley supposed to have been an ex-SAS Major?

No wonder Bodie and Doyle had so much respect for him.. that dude could've whipped both their arses single handedly :)

  • One of my favourite lines from the show was when they were at a bowling alley, a black guy started on Doyle so while Doyle was kicking his arse another dude asked Bodie what was going on, he replied, He's making a Jig Saw!! lmao the PC brigade wouldn't allow them gems these days!!

  • I heard John Thaw, well mainly Dennis Waterman dissing The Professionals, basically calling them pussies. Regarding them as more middle class where as The Sweeney (Regan and Carter) were more working class... Fuck all that, Bottom line.. Bodie would bus'up Carter and anyone who looks like him. Dennis Waterman is a trapped in the past bigoted dick'ead!

  • @designeranoraks Dennis Waterman was a very good amateur boxer in his younger days, and it shows when he throws punches in The Sweeney fights :)

  • epic groovy theme tune is epic and groovy indeed :)

  • I still want a MK11 Escort RS 2000.....just love them :)

  • @LANDYMAN090

Did i miss something, they drove a Capri.

  • @designeranoraks Doyle drove the Escort...in the early episodes he drove a MkI Mexico but then changed to a MkII RS2000, it was Bodie that drove the capri. If you find the episode that the comic strip did of the Professionals then that was a 3L atuo Capri.

  • @LANDYMAN090

There ya go then, mans got knowledge :)

I was only little, didn't know much about cars, still don't.

Cos it was on late Sunday night, we had to have bathed and had our jarmies on before we could watch it. Then we had to be quiet while it was on :)

  • Me and my brother used to joke about going into Cowley's coat at the end of the title clip. LOL

  • what s the song name?

  • forgot the original....thanx for the reminder.

  • He was in Upstairs Downstairs ( original series.) Hudson the butler, he was top class.

  • They can't make shows like this anymore. -Everytime they try they FAIL, Lamely; No one knows why.

Whatever it "was" Has been lost.

  • My name is Mike from LA Although there busizz4me.info

  • wick a wick chow oooh

  • Hull vikings!

  • Best program ever on telly.

  • this tune and the show rock!!

I used to watch it over my Dad's shoulder on a Saturday night when i was but a boy. It's cool to live in London now and watch re-runs - puts the show in context!

  • So glad they made another version of this tune, this one sounds like a school band having a go!!!

  • The Music sucks !!!

  • Best tv theme music ever, and 30 years later I still fancy Lewis Collins !

  • This song is just too pimp :)

  • BEST british serial ever!

  • @RedSunCZE Disagree. Much as I am a huge fan of 'The Professionals,' being an avid Capri fan & owner, one series knocks the lads from CI5 clean out- 'The Sweeney,' vastly superior series in terms of gritty realism, storylines etc.

  • Some serious wakka-wakka wah wah

  • gordon Jackson got the camera in his nuts right at the end.

  • The drums are absolutely crap!

  • As a schoolkid I remember not liking the way Cowley's crotch came out of the telly at me at 0:44.

  • what the fuck is this shit

  • @nerdflanders8710 The greatest "Shit" ever known to man.

Clearly you weren't around in the 1970's/80's.

  • hthis show was a m a z i n g

  • Man this just screams 70s.

  • @Linscape99 Errr,,,thats because it is....1977-1982

  • Been watching the repeats on ITV4 - interesting to see parts of London as they were 30 years ago before they got 'regenerated'.

  • no political correctness on their manor!

  • Bodie is master king

  • who does tht song , who is the artist ???? help plz

  • @1thenapster: Laurie Johnson.

  • Did they pay Issac Hayes royalties?

  • @Chuckhm: Watch yer mouth! Never heard of Laurie Johnson?!

Thee music man of 50s, 60s & 70s brit TV shows?

Way before good ol' Isaac and as good as him in his time! ;-)

  • Now that is one snappy peice of music! ;D

  • Bonehead & Foyle

  • This is my new ringtone.

  • @RichyJ91 oooooo what a great idea! Might have that myself!! lol

  • Dear eezy1972, I did used to have the cd with this song and it is correct suprisenly.

I have to say what a great show, even though it was just before my time, I have it on dvd. I have also met Lewis Collins a few years ago in a theatre in Stevenage, and he was an amazing performer and a very friendly guy.

  • That's not the original theme!

  • gordon jackson r.i.p

  • Yes, the lads always stole the show, but I have always thought that Gordon Jackson gave Cowley a fantastic style that made him such a believable character.

  • lewis collins was in the TA also. even applied for selection but got turned down as he was to famous.

  • whats name theme song ?

  • lewis collins was a hairdresser b4 the programme lol who would had ever thought that

  • Whatever happened to Lewis Collins??

  • I believe he is now living in America but according to the official Professionals website it was Lewis Collins lack of interest and wanting a change that saw the series come to a timely end in early 1981.

Gordon jackson and Martin Shaw were both very willing to continue with the series which during it's original airing was extreamly popular.

Can anyone tell me the full registration of that Ford Consul crashing through the glass at the begining of each episode.

  • this show left a big mark on me. There was nobody cooler than Lewis Collins!

  • Comment removed

  • Greatest TV theme ever!

  • not quite, i,d put the themes to department-s and hawaii 5-0 above this, but still a pretty decent effort :)

  • Not the greatest acting or the greatest story lines but it was funny

  • Brian Clemmens is a bloody genius.

  • What can you say? pure class!

  • Mark 2 Granada, surely. Fanatastic show. We will never see the likes of it again.

  • That Mark 1 Granada going through a plateglass window has to be one of the greatest intros ever. You knew this was something good. Always big Fords in this as they had the image and the presence, somehow Bodie and Doyle in an Austin Allegro and Cowley in a Maxi would look stupid. The original series did use a Triumph TR7 and a Rover SD1 but they were so unreliable the producer requested Fords afer this.

  • I havnt seen this in donkey's years

  • One of the best tv shows of the seventies an eighties, lets have a remake, Jason stathan and Clive owen would be cool. Lewis collins could take the role of Cowley.

  • brilliant idea, but i,d put sean connery as cowley....the grumpy scot would be great given his latter yrs and his pre success as bond, it would add a certain grevitas to the role

  • Brilliant. lots of smashing glass and car chases.

  • Was there not an intro scene with a rolls royce being driven fast in this series?

  • Yes during the first series the Rolls Royce and assault course was used only twice that I have seen in the episodes Klansmen and When the heat cools off, the commercial break CI5 logos were slightly different as well as a long shot of the London by the Thanes for the closing titles.

  • Yes, in the first series, but the early episodes were refitted on later re-runs with the familiar Granada window version!

  • Saw an episode of the New Avengers on the TV the other day and guess who were starring in it ?

Bodie & doyle ( though not as Bodie & doyal ) as a couple of bad ass dudes.

  • your kidding, do you know what episode??

  • sorry no I dont all I know it was on tv approximately 10 days at night around 11 # 12

Sorry I cannot be of any more help.

  • i uploaded part of that episode with bodie and doyle..:-)

  • it's the episode named "Obsession"

  • @tompo010101 The episode was called 'Obsession', from the second season of The New Avengers.

  • @tompo010101 this is such an old comment its barely worth me replying, but the episode is called obsession and it is the 5th episode of season 2

  • @mrhomerbojangles yeah i have uploaded a segment of that

  • @mrhomerbojangles

The Professionals as it was actually the Avengers creator Brian Clemens idea for a more up to date cop type show along the line of the US shows running at the time, and that episode of the New Avengers is the very reason why Shaw and Collins became Bodie & Doyle, Clemens notice there natural on screen chemistry and the rest as they say is history. A fantastic show which I still love all these years on plus it reminds me of what London was like back when I was a kid.

  • This was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. Don't make em like this anymore!

  • Fuckin' great tune !! Laurie Johnson fans you will love my short movie for sure ! You will love Jours sans amis 2 ( ... Hawaï ) for the score ....

  • Never heard the full tune, very nice.

  • Gordon Jackson..

I once saw him on an awards programme and he's opening line was....

' Would anyone like to hire a butler that can shoot a machine gun.' Brillaint actor very talented and played his part really well in the professionals.

    Thanks for sharing

  • LOL i liked that comment... he was a very powerful character in the series. liked his malt whisky too!!...lol

  • good show !! not like todays shit !! on TV

  • brilliant show. not like crap on today

  • @1WHATSUP1 no it wasn;t it was shiiiittt. have you actually watched the show???

  • The only thing I'll listen to for weeks. Months yet if it lasts. :)

  • YEAH..Gordon Jackson..cool as a fuck!!!

  • damn right

  • We miss him so much! Imagine a well-manned old gentleman who loves to put those punks to school.

    RIP Gordon Jackson

  • I meant mild-mannered

  • The wah wah defines the 70's.

  • It is full theme ;) In short TV version it was cut out!

  • whatever it sounds like its flippen tough
