  • If you find this song because it is on Scrubs then at least dignify the band with listening to some of their other music. Search for it. The reward will justify the effort.

  • its a good song, but a pretty weird video.

  • Whats scotland gt to do with it ? theres plenty of drugs and violence everywhere else

  • Good Song

  • If he'd done some songs about drugs and violence (lets face it there are plently of both in Scotland if he'd needed material) he would have been a much bigger hit in the London jibber-jabber salons where they decide these things.

I find it hard to swallow that the likes of Spandau Walleys and Duran Utans were actually more famous than these guys! Then again, half the population of any nation are below average IQ.

  • This is from a great album, bought it years ago when I lived in London. Still a great listen!

  • Search some of Del Amitri's other songs they are amazing!

  • SCRUBS!!!

    Love this song.

  • why do any of you care how you heard this song its good thats it

  • Comment removed

  • i have NEVER heard this song on the radio. ever

  • pretty good.but i already knew this song before it was on scrubs!!!scrubs is still good tho

  • scrubs brought me here! xD but hey, i love it, cant deny it. brilliant stuff..

  • Something made you listen and enjoy this song. For a lot of us, me including, it was Scrubs that did it.

  • I also heard about it on Scrubs.

  • actually, i heard about it because of Julia Nunes...

  • There's nothing wrong with hearing a song, and being able to relate to it then seeking it out to listen to it. It's fanboys like you that are what's actually sad. How is anyone to find out about artists without hearing a song of theirs somewhere. Be it radio, a friend owning a CD, a Television show, stumbling across it over the internet, supporting locals at a music Cafe.

  • i actually thought elliot was hotter before her makeover

  • tell her something in my mind needs her more than even clowns need the laughter of the crowd.

  • i get this feeling when i hear this, because it was part of this phase i had.

    that makes me happy.

  • If he shaved his sideburns back a bit this guy might look a bit like Jeff Buckley.

  • yeah i saw that scrubs episode. They always use the best songs for the right part.

  • when elliot breaks it with .d s2 ep11 18:39-19:50 minutes in.

  • I got to this song because of scrubs to. =D Scrubs brings us together

  • Yes it does! Thats why its the best show ^__^

  • 'if my heart could write songs they would sound like this"

(its a scrubs quote :P lets see who actualy knows there scrubs well enough to know were its from)

  • From what episode you mean? The one where his brother starts seeing elliot. im not an scrubs addict or anything tho ;p

  • Yes, it's when Dan is in Elliot's place, and J.D. is talking about the DIDO c.d. , so what do we win lol !!!!

  • Fail.....My Sex Buddy ending...

  • oh...wait i thought you ment the song....

    i Fail

  • it´s the episode where alied is havin a realationship with jd´s brother... in the end jd steals the dido cd and says this sentence to alied^^

  • woot!

you all win my permission to go watch scrubs for many a hour.. gawd i love scrubs......

  • scrubs rock!

  • nice song. scrubs play some good songs

  • YOUR SIDEBURNS ARE MINT

  • first public version of the world wide web went online in 1988. factchecking is great before you post that "the internet didn't exist back then"

technically, a government only version of the internet existed back in the late 40's and 50's at the earliest stages of what is now known as a computer

  • actually the internet did exist when this came out, I remember looking these guys up online back when I first heard "Driving With The Breaks On" in 1995. I used to go to my dads office and check on bands and such.

  • this is amazing ha ha my teacher showed me this song but its totally dirty sooooo

  • beautiful song * listen interested *

  • A bit Peter Gabriel isn't it? Love this song.

  • the one where elliot and JD break up

  • I heard this a while back and liked it then...but since seeing THAT episode of Scrubs I can't help listening to it in full every time I see that episode.

  • what episode of scrubs?

  • sex buddies thats the name of it I think

  • Its my sex buddy,sorry

  • man, i cried when i heard it !

  • 231,378 views for this.

    over 1, 100, 000+ for Avril lavigne's Girlfriend.

What is wrong with the world when that happens...

  • basic math xeca, the average youtube visitor is 17 or younger, plus newer videos as a whole will be viewed more than old ones. if avril was from the 80's and Del Amitri just hit the scene with this song as their hot single, it would crush avrils songs in total views.

  • so?

Im 17 and i know the difference between real quality and rubbish like Lavigne.

The fact is, is people if they had good taste REGARDLESS of age, would watch this, and this would have over 100 million views like it deserved/

Its a matter of taste .

Or the majority of the publics lack of it

  • you are missing the point.... sure this is a great song but it came out long before internet was around. kids today look up the songs they hear on the radio and see on tv, not a random song from years ago that they've probably never heard of. this song is a hidden gem, enjoy it rather than worrying about what highschool girls like to listen to.

  • omg i love this band!!!! they are fabulous!

    the songs are amazing

    =]

  • I adore this guy and this song, but jeez - by the end of the video he looks like someone out of a cheesy 70's werewolf movie! I mean that in the most loving way...

  • Heard this on scrubs it really goes well with the scene, great song, great lyrics. Enjoy. x

  • This song makes me feel...it's extremely personal sounding and underrated, simply amazing.

  • Gives me shivers thinking of how it's used in Scrubs. Beautiful.

  • i love scrub ... much better that friends

  • I also found this thanks to scrubs, id forgotten how good it was. Plus at the end of the previous episode was Dreaming of you by the Coral which is a equally brillant track.

  • Yes it was on E4 this very evening. Scrubs always seems to find the perfect song to match the moment.

  • i found it on scrubs tonight it was perfect for the moment i agree. i found so meny songs from scrubs its the best show ever

  • Ahhh Mr WaffPulse.. I have just watched that very episode of Scrubs which included this song to.......... so good

  • on E4? I just watch it aswell, really made me wanna listen to this song!

  • Brilliant episode, brilliant song, brilliant show! Scrubs has one of the best soundtracks on TV! Hands down!

  • Thank you Scrubs for introducing me to this song and this band :D

  • love this song...i dedicate it to the love of my life...she knows who she is....my lady "m"..i`m sorry for any hurt i`ve caused you.

  • Whoa it's sensitive Dave Mustaine!

  • there mutton chops

  • those things are called bugger grips lol, great song

  • That guy has awesome chops.

    Great song.

  • What are those things on his face?! Sideburns! Cool song though.

  • julia nunes!

  • Just how fookin' good were Del Amitri? Of course i knew them when they were Derek Amitri . . hehe.

    Seriously top tune, great band.

  • haha

    im stealing that

  • Steal away matey, I did! I believe it belongs to Mike Smash - one half of Smashey and Nicey - Not arf!

  • hes ugly lol

  • He looks like he's in transition from human to werewolf.

Still though the mans a legend

  • such an underated band.

  • I agree..but this is awsome too

  • I looooove this song.

  • he's actually DAVE MUSTAINE!!

  • after watching this i am considering getting my self some mutton chops

  • I don't know why but in the beginning he looks really drunk.

  • wonderful.

  • dude looks like dane cook... sucks

    great song

  • Heard it on Scrubs, loved it ever since, x

  • same here!

    its a great song!!

  • yeah that was a great ending.

  • Thats the magic of synaesthesia

Everytime you will hear this song you will automaticly feel the mood of that scrubs episode

That's what happens to me if I hear the fray - how to save a life

  • This is a brilliant song, love Del Amitri! even when people called me uncool.......15 I was when I started ha ha! better than the rubbish that was out then and now.

  • haha good god those are some bitchin mutton chops

  • lmao bitchin chops

  • I also enjoy Julia's version better, but this is the original, which means that it was the way that it was meant to be heard.

Julia created her own version and used her own creative license to make it in her great ukulele/melodica style that we love.

  • such a realism in all their music <33 xxx

  • Adorable song =]

  • awesome song !x<3

  • the most beautiful lyrics sobbing

  • Both this and Julia Nunes' version have their good qualites. One for julia is that she doesn't have those freaky sideburns. Both are great imho.

  • they r freaky- they almost have wolfish characteristics

  • why don't you listen to music instead of worrying about outward appearance, or are you that shallow

  • Oh hey, have you heard of that great new thing called a joke?

    I hear they're pretty funny.

  • this sucks i liked julia's ukelelee and melodica, the accordian is all messing this up for me and at lest julia doesnt have those annoying sideburns, GAHHHH I WANT TO SHAVE THEM OFF SO BAD!!! ITS ANNOYING ME! GAH!

  • julia nunes has ruined every song for me

  • How so?

  • You must be a bit slow if you disliked the first song but kept on coming back to listen....wow dude

  • yea, i'd have to say Julia Nunes bettered this song, along with all her other covers.

  • I found this via a cover by Julia Nunes, great song

  • Great song, painfully terrible video!!

  • i love this great song (never liked the video tough)

  • I so in love with this song

  • simply wonderful!!!!

  • oh yes

  • they should call this video "that song from scrubs"......sigh........

  • haha

  • This song is beautiful - I love the words and the meaning behind them...

  • this song is on scrubs,

    i love it =]

  • i dont understand why people care what the band thinks. if you enjoy the song thats all that matters.

  • Truth.

Also, I can enjoy the song without even thinking about the meaning. It's a bit generic, sure, but this song is sad without being too depressing and is moreorless exactly what I'm feeling right now. So I'm enjoying listening to it.

  • This is one of few songs which I call perfect. Perfect voice, perfect lyric, perfect melody, perfect title. So I decided to use it in my clip because it fits perfectly, I hope its ok

    ;)

  • it really is perfect. =]

  • sehr schönes lied...

  • it is one of the best songs in the world. :)

and when it comes to the outfit - it was one of their rare highlights. :)

  • I don't care if thats their best Song, but i hope for them, that it isn't their best outfit. :S

  • this is the sweetest song ever written.

to imagine this is what a guy would wish he could tell a girl is amazing del amitri is such a good band

its too bad theyre not as well known.

  • i ve been listenin to Del Amitri since i was wee

god they are great Roll to Me is my fave song

  • Same here, I have listened to these since I was about 5. Brings back lots of good childhood memorys.

If only people made music this good nowadays...

  • The band actually doesn't like that song and refuses to post on their myspace. I was a fan of it...but their lesser-known songs, I think are FAR better....more soulful.

  • I think the band likes the song very much - and you are talking about Roll to me, at least this is the track they refused to post on myspace.....

  • That's the song the original post was referring to, yes.

  • If there's one thing I hate its bands going back and trying to erase work they've done. Like be thankful you've written something that so many people love. If it was good enough for you then, why not now...it seems a bit pretentious, like oh we're SERIOUS now la-dee-dah. I saw the "sickeningly mainstream america" comment on myspace last night, gotta say it's changed my opinion of them, in the negative.

  • So many bands are told by their labels to put out a "mainstream hit" to get us to buy the album and hopefully enjoy the rest of the music. It sucks for the band and the listener - mostly for the band. The listener doesn't know the true band and people who would otherwise be fans, have no idea what they're missing because the single sucked in their opinion. Easy to see why the artist would be bitter. It didn't work for this band - they're known as one-hit-wonders even though they're still around!

  • Doesn't really wash with me. If you wanna stay true as a band then it's argued that going to a label in the first place is selling out. Basically they shouldn't have written the song at all if that's how they felt. I appreciate that you're a fan and you'll defend them anyway, but look at from my side...I've just discovered these guys over the past two years, & now I'm learning that songs I thought were great, in actuality the band don't (never did) believe in. Leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

  • About 80% of my albums are of indie artists & I hate people who sell out - that said, no matter what independent artists may say about not ever selling out...most of them are dying for a contract so their music is heard more places.I'm just stating the facts. I've been in radio 5+ years and it's just the way it is. Most of the time, these things are in fine print and songs the band WROTE and believed in at one point but did not want on an album are forced onto an album.

  • I cant think of any bands that I like that have turned their back on material with such venom: "sickeningly american". i love the boys tho, i think they are incredible - i just think they could have maybe leaned a certain way as opposed to completely turning their backs on it. i dont buy the fine print argument, what about live gigs, label cant force them there. i also dont consider signing with a label as selling out, i just dont think u can have it both ways.

  • I'm just saying how it is with bands. The label is ALWAYS at live gigs - they ALWAYS send a rep along with the band. I'm not excusing it, just saying how it is.

  • But I'M EXCUSING IT, 100 per cent EXCUSING it!!!!

  • That wasn't my point, the point is the label have no say over what goes into a band's setlist. You said the only reason big mainstream hits make it onto hit collections is cos the label MAKES them, and its in the "small print". I'm just saying 98% of the bands I see live still sing their biggest hits. Therefore its safe to assume they never wrote, recorded, performed, promoted material they didn't believe in. Whereas Del Amitri did. Just to reiterate before I get trashed - I fuckin love the band

  • I didn't say they make them play it, I just said that when an artist is signed, a rep is always at shows. I didn't mean they're MAKING them play hits, but they're monitoring the. That said, it is ultimately up to fans. Since what you hear at a show is really what the fans want to hear, the hits creep in...otherwise you have disappointed fans and in the end, no one wants that. I totally get where you're coming from though...let's end on - the band has talent!

  • In addition, it doesn't take a mainstream hit for me to take an interest in a band. I own countless albums by artists who have never had a hit record. Nor do I think it "sucks" for a band to HAVE to put out a mainstream hit...their pay packets might have something to do with feeling that way.

  • He has such a gorgeous voice its instantly recognisable aswell. This song is beautiful.

  • Reminds me of shaggy from scooby doo

  • He looks like a blonde Wolverine to me.

  • NO he looks very much like Jeff Buckley

    he is also not drunk

  • i found this on scrubs

he looks like a drunk blonde dane cook...

  • me too!
